      You may want to educate yourself on what happened to the last guy that predicted 'the coming collapse of China"
      His name is Gordon Chang. He made the prediction in the late 90s and wrote a book about it.
      What happened? The Chinese economy grew from USD$ 1.3 trillion in 2001( When the book "the coming collapse of china" was published) to USD$18 trillion, as we type.

      @@shiulai5804 DId I type that the US has no problems? I am sorry but I made no such argument.
      I am not making an extreme argument that China's economy will collapse. My expectation is that growth will deteriorate and come very close to the 2-3% level over the next decade. There's definitely issues that China will have to deal with such as the demographic issue, the desertification of land, growing debt, issues in various corporate sectors such as property, the diversification of trade away from China etc (again I am not saying the US doesn't have issues as well but just focusing on China for the moment).

      @Stravanda The growth of the GDP in the United States over the past four years has been achieved through the act of printing more than nine trillion US dollars to stimulate the economy, and such growth is unsustainable.
      In 2021, with the exchange rate as low as 1 US dollar to 6.45 yuan, China witnessed a growth of three trillion US dollars in its GDP. A 5% growth rate indicates that it has surpassed the GDP growth of any year other than 2021 and that of last year. If calculated based on an exchange rate of 1:7, it would be equivalent to an annual increase of 900 billion US dollars. This demonstrates that China's proactive countermeasures are taking effect. For example, China is accelerating the development of high-tech industries, optimizing resource allocation, adjusting the export structure, seeking more diversified international trade partners, expanding domestic demand, strengthening educational capabilities, encouraging childbearing, installing robotic arms and industrial robots, stimulating consumption, and improving the medical, pension, and income distribution systems.

    • @Stravanda
      @Stravanda วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@后宫后 I think the US stimulus was about $5 trillion not 9. It's quite complex to say how much the stimulus explains from the US GDP growth. I don't know if there's been any research quantifying it. Either way, the growth sustainability of the US could also be contested. I can definitely see risks due to growth stemming from government spending rather than private sector growth. I am not saying the US will have it easy going forward.
      Nor am I saying China is not taking action to help its economy. But it is clear that its economy needs help and that there are big challenges ahead. Growth forecasts for China currently suggest that it will probably drop to 4% by 2027 or below 4%. Some issues are not as easily solved, like the demographic issue.

  • @BeelP.
    @BeelP. วันที่ผ่านมา +9

    This is guy's all BS. How can you say China's rise has ended let alone reverse? Chinese GDP growth is still one of the fastest growth anywhere and certainly one of the highest among major economies. Korean GDP growth is almost nil but nobody talks about the fall of Korea or reversal of Korea's ascent. The major sector slowdown in China is mostly in the real estate sector and the lower wealth effect has resulted in lower consumption. Exports are booming and tech manufacturing is climbing. The lower Chinese GDP relative to the US economy is simply due to the spell of unusually high US inflation and the strong spell of strong USD mainly due to high interest rates which boosts nominal GDP. Nothing to do with higher standards of living among the vast majority of Americans. Trump's electoral victory is precisely a reflection of the desperation among Americans. The moment inflation falls and the Fed cuts rates, this tailwind for the US economy will fall and China's GDP as a percentage of US GDP will resume its climb. A small fall in population arguably eases the job of raising the percapita standard of living for China and explains the lack of panic in China. Consumers everywhere are very happy and actually welcome cheap Chinese imports. It is simply a reflection of the brutallly competitive nature of Chinese industry, not due to subsidies. I have seen firsthand the incomparable work ethics of the Chinese labor force and I am beyond impressed.

    Understanding Chinese strategy... they would rather be belittled and underestimated when developing. It is very different from the way Western country works.
    If you observe the other East Asian countries, they are largely the same. For example, they save more money than spend... facing deflationary issues as compared to inflationary/credit issues in America.
    It would be interesting to see how things play out as the West style of propaganda to portray a failing China happens to be what they wouldn't really mind.
    Either way, a US or China hegemony is going to end up the same. Superpowers always coerce weaker and smaller countries to conform. Global economy get hurts the most when there is a tussle between the top 2.

    Any one sided criticism is easy without the context of the world's economy situation. Europe are zero to negative growth. US is doing growth with inflation and lowered living standard. The biggest birth rate problem is actually Korean and Japanese. The biggest creditor of the world is the West, Chinese is helping third world countries over debt by currency exchange via BRICS. This is an era where the world is going into a down turn cycle.

    2:19 When was the last time that the Chinese GDP grown at a rate that was less then that of the US. Can someone named it? No because I can't remember it being less in the last 5yr, 10yr, 20 yrs. So basic math tell you that the Chinese economy could NOT be shrinking relative to the US. As long as the Chinese GDP grown rate is larger then that of the US the Chinese economy is catching up with the US . That is just math.

    • @gvhuang
      @gvhuang 55 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      Nominally, it happened. The last few years during and post covid, US pumped a lot of dollars to inflate its economy. At a result, even though in local currency terms China growth rate never dropped below that of the US, its GDP in dollar terms shrank relative to the US.
      The flood of dollars will eventually have to go away, much like the tide. And as they say, when the tide fades, it will be obious who has been swimming naked.
