This is some of the best footage from cameras onboard an RC plane that I've ever seen. The in cockpit pan tilt views are amazing. The quality of the cockpit finishing is great and adds to the realism. It seems like a limiting factor for cockpit realism is the quality and clarity of the glass and the junction of where and how the glass is framed and mounted. Everything else like dials look so real.
Thanks! Yes, and this is one of the better canopies I have put an fpv under. Some of the poorer plastic canopies I can improve with a floor shine type coating.
Outstanding!!! Most aviation fans are all about the F-18's, F-16's, etc. Not many are interested in the ugly ducks like the OV-10 Bronco, OV-1 Mohawk, etc. But to me, the OV-10 was a beautiful plane built to do what it did based on need, not speed. The A-10 is another example. One bad-ass plane that the guys on the ground are thankful for.
Thanks, in case you missed it, I have a 1/10th scale a-10 almost ready to fly that will drop mk81, mk82, mk84 and snakeyes. Video soon if the weather here cooperates.
I agree with you on wanting the oddballs. I have always had a love for the O-2 Skymaster since my uncle had a civilian skymaster he flew in the 90s. Not sure if anyone makes a decent RC of it or not but I think they're just neat
Very cool. Your designs and execution is remarkable. Many years ago I read your build article for the Vertigo in Model Aircraft News, might still have the issue. It took me a while to figure out the motor control circuit for the nacelle tilt/jackscrew ( didn't have the plan ) That brilliant little circuit has been so handy in many projects, thank you Sir.
Thanks, I have often wanted to revisit the vertigo as an electric but since there are so many other ways to do electric VTOL I really haven't been that motivated
Impressive. my critical nature has to search hard for anything that might be considered a flaw, then it's only related to ordinance, and then it's impractical on the scale: slower opening of the drag fins to prevent impact with the aircraft or other ordinance. Excellent work.
Love these realistic setups. Add some cap loaders or blank heads under the nose cone. If done correctly, you can add a tiny extra bit of front end weight to the armaments, as well as create a nice “bang” on impact.
Big bombs. No booms. Really nice work on the cockpit. That’s awesome you can turn the pilots head to look around. That must be really cool to fly it like that.
I made replacement cockpit crew windows using stretched acrylic for this aircraft in the early 90's in Michigan. Excited to see an RC version of this plane. Great job!
Awesome man. Please make a video on your equipment , how you install them on the aircraft, the connections , how to install dji goggles and the air unit and get them connected to a head tracker, from where to buy head tracker , how the connections are done to the receiver , could a spectrum tx and rx be used or should one use the dji transmitter .. etc ,, many questions! Thanks
You know, the price of this makes me sad. I would love to do this for a hobby but I just can’t afford it. Lovely to hear your enthusiasm though, thank you
As a little girl I got to go on a CAX (Combined Arms Exercise) training mission with my Dad out at 29 palms. I got to ride in a Bronco that was doing a mock recon team insertion. The images from your cockpit were so realistic that I could almost feel the sensations from that ride so long ago!!! Thanks for sharing this.
OV-10s were still in use in Korea flown from Camp Humphreys when I was there mid 90s. I'm very familiar with the ordnance as I was an Aviation Ordnanceman in the Navy and I assembled Mk-80 series bombs in many configurations including those shown. That made watching this all that much more enjoyable.
That is very impressive... super realistic. You need to work for a company that does film models, but I guess they think digital is better, but I think this is better... digital feels fake; this feels real...
I'm not a modeler but I was a Load Toad on A-10A's back in late 1970's and I had a thing for the OV-10 since I was a kid. As a loader, I learned to load and wire both low drag and Snake Eye bombs and later the newer high drags with the Ballute inflatable Retarded Bomb system. I was really amazed at how well your Snake Eyes worked, especially on such a small scale. When we loaded the real ones, we would use a longer length of arming wire to prevent the fins from opening until they were nearly 3' away from the air craft. If they opened too soon it would damage the air frame. The pilots would also use the "Ripple" feature when dropping multiple bombs to prevent the tail fins from hitting each other by inducing a short 1/4 second delay from one release to the next. I'd really love to see you wire up some rockets. Most OV-10 used by the Air Force were FAC, (Forward Air Controllers) and they rarely if ever carried MK 82s. The primary load out was a mix of HE and WP 2.75" Rockets in the LAU-32 or LAU-68 rocket pods. We only used the LAU-32, 7 tube launchers on the A-10s but during the VN war, the OV-10 carried both. They used WP to mark targets for the fighters and HE if they were doing their own fighting. A good friend I'd met after my AF days, Gary Ferentchak was an Air Force FAC pilot on his second tour and flew OV-10s. He was even written up in the book, "The Rescue of BAT-21" by Darrel Whitcomb. It's a great book that tells the REAL story of BAT-21.
Thank you for the great info however as recreational model pilots in the United States we are not allowed to launch pyrotechnics. Everything we do has to be inert.
That looked awesome! I guess now I'm going to have to look at more of your videos on your channel... damn you, YooToob, stop recommending things! There's just not enough hours in the day to watch all of this cool content! /shakes fist 😄
@@tomhuntFPV thank you! I’m having a bit of trouble setting up my head tracker system . The head tracker gui is giving me a programming failed message when it gets to the uploading firmware part. Any tips?
Saludos Amigo muy realista el video , las bombas se desplegaron muy bien , solo falto dispararle a un blanco en tierra , muchas gracias por compartir feliz dia y exitos
This is so fun! Are the bombs and the dropping mechanism of your design? Are they somewhere publicly available or where I could obtain them to print and use on my own models?
The thumbnail looked so realistic that i thought it was gonna be leaked war footage lol
Same hahaha
I was looking for the LiveLeak logo until he called us modelers.
Me too lol
Y’all are behind the times. War footage isn’t leaked anymore, its just out there.
ngl same and in crisp view to then yeah...but still worth the watch and sub

Needs the necessary Paint it Black soundtrack
Damn those snake eyes are consistent. Right next to each other.
Straight Up!
Nice try, but that farm seems undamaged.
No ground hogs were harmed in the making of this film!😊
🤣😂
All we're missing is the KABOOM...
Amazing footage, amazing model
There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom

I love the new cockpit view, especially looking over at those spinning props--just like being there! The Snake Eyes were awesome.

Great Work Tom! Love the angles
Your flying buddy Rick is a brave man!
This video was brilliant! Very cool. Thanks for sharing. The bombs....awesomeness.
Enjoyed it. I love flying FPV. Your bomb drop brings a totally new game! Thank you!
You're very welcome. Flying fpv is great, but I love the added dimension of bomb dropping!

Ngl those are some pretty cool bombs, looks pretty much exactly like the real-life counterparts (Especially the snake-eyes)

Extremely realistic, nice upgrades there with the digital fpv!

You did an awesome job with everything, very realistic and FPV gives the camera a real pilots view
