    Enjoyed your overview Ben and agree with your final conclusions. I actually own an XC, Sand Viper, NH Sandhawk, Atlas Apollo, and an Atlas Erebus. Agreed completely that the grip and trigger shoe are great out of the box on the Sand Viper. The grip safety is also probably the best fit of all of my 2011’s - it disengages no matter how shitty my grip may be on the draw. Not a fan of the TTI optics cut though - I tried mounting an RMR HD and the damn cut is slightly too deep to where the front face of the optic hits the top of the slide and the optic base can’t sit flush in the cut. So instead I’m running a type 2 RM09 - no biggie, but I was hoping to use this gun to get some reps on the new HD’s. From a shooting standpoint - it feels very similar to the XC at almost double the price. Everyone online always trashes staccato and claims the XC is overpriced - but for 4.2k + a 300 dollar grip from extremeshooters + a metal atlas trigger shoe + 10lb recoil spring the XC is 95% as good as the Erebus (which to date is the best 2011 I’ve shot) and thousands cheaper than all the others I own. The sand viper on the other hand is kinda just setting money on fire. It’s a good shooter and a cool collector’s piece, but I’m not convinced it does anything better than the other guns I own.

    If I remember the details correctly that 1911Sydicate put out, they ran off the parts list and said that given the MIM parts and polymer grip, it should be in the $3500-4500 range.... not $7000.
    They got into the weeds with it if you want to nerd out, but the build quality wasn't up to par with the "cheaper" NightHawk SandHawk or similar pistols with 1 gun/1 gunsmith builds.
    I'm unsure who actually builds them, cause it isn't TTI, they are just the brand on it.
    I also am clearly bored and know nothing 😂

I also submit that having shot both caniks and a few staccatos owned by other people, I’m not good enough that I could claim one is better than the other. I guess in the end it comes down to personal choices and more importantly, training.
      One reason I don’t want one of the higher end firearms is that if I bought the firearm, I couldn’t buy ammo. Guns useless then.

    Something I noticed in your review, you said the sand viper was slightly better than the staccato in more ways than one. I think the quantities of slightly better features at some point adds up to the quality of much better gun. I’m not good enough to bring out the goodness of either of those guns, so I would never buy one. But you’re definitely on that level. Thanks for the review.

  • @markevans658
    @markevans658 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The nicer and better built a gun is the more expensive it becomes and as you get further up the ladder of smaller and smaller levels of improvement. This really is true of most products. You just have to figure out where your line is and what you want, ultimately there’s no wrong answer as long as you can afford what you’re buying. For me the sweet spot in 2011’s is the Staccato P and the sweet spot for 1911’s is the Wilson CQB. I do think the Pit Viper/Sand Viper is cool though and if any of my friends or coworkers get one, I hope they let me shoot it.

    Honestly think the Canik TTI looks better. Ive never shot either one. Obviously the Canik is not a 2011. Im not spending $6-9k on a 2011. Its absolutely insane what they ask for these when TTI just brands them and does build them

    DLC doesn’t come in colors. Just black and shades of gray. It’s probably PVD coated.

    I've had the privilege of handling and shooting both and I can say whole heartedly the Nighthawk Sand Hawk is a far more superior gun. The Sand Hawk is the slightly better shooter of the two with the experience I had. The Sand Hawk also has a far superior fit and finish compared to the Sand Viper. You are paying more for the name than anything when it comes to the Sand Viper. It feels more like around a $3k to $4k gun, definitely not worth the $7k starting price in my opinion.

      @ depends what its being used for. I cant remember what a glock weighs exactly but it isnt much. My pistol that weighs 60oz shoots far better and has 1.5lb trigger. You can build a cheap gun. I did with a prodigy. I enjoy competitive shooting and open division. There is an entry cost. Sure i could build a glock and it may work. In open or any division a jamb can loose you a match. I have also seen more glocks choke than any other manufacturer. Thats not to say guys arent very much guilty of playing with equipment. Its all in what you want it for. I dont carry a 3k gun bc its a tool.

    An $8,200 gun doesnt outperform a $600 gun in Stoeger (or comparable shooters hands). These are cool, but made for guys who cant spend enough money on a gun. One of the many plastic guns on the market and ammo and training will make you shoot better, not spending $4k plus on a 2011.

    USPSA Rick here! It's a sand viper Morty! This is one of the 2011s of all time. Like seriously Morty, this thing hits the ass of the assymtope of performance hard *burp* just buy a Glock and learn to shoot because your vision sucks. 10K on a 2011 isn't going to fix your bad recoil control Morty! You still can't his a 15 yard target!
