Been working over and gunsmithing the crap out of a Tisas night stalker DS ….. I call it the Turccato ….. I picked it up because I refuse to pay staccato prices …. It’s been my troll 2011 …. I highly doubt she’s going to be anywhere near as reliable as a staccato, especially in the long run …. But it amuses me …. She runs smooth and soft … does all the 2011 things …. Might even give her a Bull barrel at some point ….still better than the prodigy
I'm the cheap trash can gun and tailgate funsmithing guy, so I've been curious if anyone who actually knows anything knows anything about the tisas2011s? I want a 9mm and a .45acp one, mind sharing some details about yours and what you did to make it go?
@ I apprenticed for years, personally …. So far I’ve done a polishing trigger job, including polishing the disconnector and stripping lug on the inside of the slide, smoothing out the interaction between the stripping lug and the disconnector …. I did not polish the rails, instead opting to let the cerakote naturally wear into itself and smooth its self out ….. now I did peen the rails the slightest bit in order to tighten up the slide to frame fit …. But all in all the action is almost glass smooth … I can feel the difference between a well made 2011 and the tisas, but most can’t ….. I also polished the outside chamber section of the barrel and the inside of the barrel bushing …. The trigger is currently sitting at 4.0-4.5 lbs …. Next is to see if I can tune it down about a half pound
@jacobcurda6031 okay so mostly nice trigger work, but for the barrel and bushing polishing, do you think a heavier recoil spring might have solved the issue? Or was there not exactly an issue, you just wanted to make it glassy smooth? As for looser slide tolerances, I personally like mine a little rattly. When you peened it did you peen it with a punch down, or just kinda took a little to it to snug it up? Thanks for the reply. I've been considering whether it's worth it for a while
@ polishing the inside of the barrel bushing and the chamber removed the last little bit of grittiness and drag from the slide movement ….. every now and again I can feel just a little grittiness coming from the front of the slide, but I’m sure that’s due to the recoil spring being on a GI guide rod …. Not really an issue but a cheap full sized guide rod will knock that out …. Personally, I think it’s sprung well, if not a little heavy but I’m good with that …. My main objective was to get the action as glass smooth as I could, wanted her to feel like a higher end girl than she is ….. that’s also why I snuggled up the fit …. Too much play and you get an uneven metal on metal contact…. The smoothness of higher end models when you run the slide, I think, comes from even and consistent movement across the surfaces that contact each other and those surfaces being shiny smooth ….. To snug up the action I used a Brownells 1911 rail tool to brace the bottom half of the frame rails…. Then some light taps at the front and rear, avoiding the center, with a brass hammer …. Just keep working it with light even taps until you’re happy with the fit …. There are videos on 1911 frame peening

Nighthawk is better than the stac but also more expensive. Conversely there are better guns than nighthawk at the nighthawk price point
Atlas Gunworks or go home. I have 10. 😂
This reviewer doesn't even offer discount codes. 🙄 😁
A lot of people are asking you to shoot the M&P. Anyone who has dealt with S&W for their customer service knows how terrible the company is. Its a shame. If you dont believe me...just look at their BBB reviews.
@Ben Stoeger. Use some sunscreen bro.
The turdcato
Every competition gun must be touched by gunsmith or yourself to be tuned up
I swear cops will do anything but train with their guns lol. Who cares about dumping $3K on a handgun when you’re only gonna shoot it once a year😂😂
they gotta have a neato gun to go with the sleeve of tat's!
2011s are doo doo supreme
dont worry, hi point will sell you as many guns as you want.
