Check your connections and be sure your replacement is correct version. It's possible it's different version or bad replacement that's happened to me before.
I've seen some videos saying to choose option 4. Will that be enough for disc not showing up on the screen? I also noticed that the restore PS3 is on the regular menu without doing all these steps. Is that option no good? Thanks.

What if the actual Blueray + DVD mechanism isn't moving - I put a disk in and the part slides down and clicks a couple times like it is getting ready to read but then nothing happens. DVD doesn't spin just sits there? Is it broken?
I don´t know if this could work for anyone else but, I started to notice like one month ago, that the slide door on my ps3 didn´t fully close, and sometimes it did close but made a strange noise, at first I didn´t put to much attentión to it since it still worked fine. But last week it stopped reading games, althougt it was still reading dvds and music discs, but not blurays or games. whenever i put a game it started spinning and making the sound when it tries to read the game, even the loading icon in the top right corner was making circles, and then stopped. Finally I was thinking if it has to do something with the sliding door; first I clean the lens with a Q-tip, then I clean the rest of the disc reader, specially the door, and it works fine now. I read in a comment below that 9/10 of the time is the position of the sensor, and its true, if the sliding door is not fully or correctly close the disc sensor don´t read the games, but in my case it still was reading dvds and music discs, strange. Hope someone find this usefull.

You can pop the from right panel up 3 tabs from right top left from the bottom edge, then the whole front panel slides left to remove. Then you can see the locking mechanism of the door; it sometimes doesnt align right but u can nudge it str8. It takes no time to remove & replace the front panel. If that helps anyone
A Cotton Bud/Cue Tip worked for me, the weird thing was it was just original Playstation games that weren't working and I kept getting a pop up saying check Settings/Network Settings, any ideas why?

The problem i have with my ps3 slim is that the game boot up but for example ff10 hd menu is up but there some visual glitches on the selection screen then i choose ff10 it bring me back to the ps3 menu
2021: tried to clean my ps3 super slim, the drive didn't read anymore, tried different methods to fix that, did not work, so now I'm restoring to factory settings. I already uploaded all my saved games to the cloud so I don't have problems for now haha

Option 3 won't work for me. If I take it apart I can't get it back together. And I already tried factory restoring. So, only option is 1 and if that won't work I'll have to send mine to the Playstion company and get them to do option 3 for me.

So: The Blu laser will read games, for a time after a full reset, and the system will spin up BD discs fine after a full reset but only for a short while soooo... WTF?

Its probably like mine the disk stopper peice just needs to be wedged in there i used a peice of paper and it fixed it

Mine reads DVD's but not games. It does spin continuously when the disc is in, but it makes really loud clicking noises. Any ideas?

ROOKTABULA this is likely your blu ray laser is going out. it's still functional at times but soon it will not function at all
