I think what turned a lot of people off from Be Cool Scooby Doo was the art style. I remember originally not watching it because I just wasn’t a fan of how it looked (especially after how much I loved the art style from Mystery Incorporated). But after being told that it was actually good, I gave it a try and found myself enjoying it! Just goes to show not to judge a book by its cover. Granted, I still don’t like the art style that much. But the show itself isn’t bad in itself 😊
@@BlueGriffin20 Personally, I didn’t mind the art style for TTG and think it looks really neat. I just wasn’t a fan of the humor and general tone of the show. But given that it wasn’t made to be like the 2003 series, nor am I the target audience, I’m not too mad. I just want a season 6 to finish up the prior series 😂
@@BlueGriffin20 Yeah. I think the OG Titans art style has the anime aesthetic while maintaining the comic book feels, whereas TTG has a decent character design which fits the weird and quirky Silver Age Comic vibe (which Batman: The Brave and The Bold pulled it out better).
I think the art style for Be Cool had to be changed somehow. It's much more comedic and and random. I don't see the more realistic style we're used to would have conveyed the comedy as well. Probably didn't have to go completely brickleberry on the style though.
That and Problem Solverz. I know I sound insane for saying that but trust me, that show has some good writing. Edit: I’m honestly so glad this got some likes. To the ~10 people who did, thank you for agreeing, or at least accepting my opinion.
@@BinglesP it would of done better if it stayed on AS since the pilot was on AS and AS is known for their more experimental shows but CN wanted it to be on CN to fill a empty time slot
@@The_eggy_one it's comedy with a mystery going on in the background vs an overarching mystery show. I think comparing them is kinda unnecessary. The characterization of most the gang in be cool is better than most of mystery inc.
@@Knighttheft I believe it’s a recurring joke in the original that gets reused in later incarnations. It just started as simply playing around with those monsters, while Shaggy and Scooby are in disguise; but later incarnations take it to the max, coming up with different ideas to fit with the joke.
Not gonna lie; This show's take on Daphne is my all-time favourite version of her character. The cartoon was more comedic so Daphne DEFINITELY needed some comedic character because she HAD almost no character pre-Mystery Inc. In this show, on the other hand, she becomes a major contender with Shaggy and Scooby to be the best thing in the show and easily the most-memorable part of it. The kind of comedic antics she got up to in this show was something you never would have expected from her in any other iteration of Scooby Doo and I'm all for it.
This is the best version of Daphne. From her wearing a beard and practicing stand-up, to her expressing real friendship with Shaggy (after she had no interaction with him in other iterations), was a huge leap forward. Fred was the leader but Daphne was really the glue that held the group together.
@@zacmoncrief238 Oh, definitely. I still think it's weird to say that the funniest part of a Scooby Doo cartoon was DAPHNE but the fact that it happened is something I can really get behind just because of how unthinkable that would have been before Be Cool aired.
I remember seeing a few episodes of this show on Boomerang a few years ago, I was initially put off by the Family Guy art style, but since we were in a hotel at the time, me and my friends decided to continue watching and we were pleasantly surprised at how funny the show was, we were laughing out loud at some scenes even That's quite the accomplishment for a show, since we were typically edgy 17 year olds back then
I'm more shocked with Daphne in this series. She's beyond unhinged, great with puppets, but the ENTIRE OCEAN seems to have a serious grudge against her!!!
This version of Daphne was the best, she has more personality rather than being just a pretty face, she's the screw that holds the machine together, everytime the gang was in a tough spot, she takes the stand to heighten their spirits up.
She is like the Hermione of the group now (brains and bravery, not just beauty) and I am here for it. I mean, ofc Velma is the brains too, don't get me wrong, but it's nice to see Daphne and Velma as more equals in femininity, just humble people and characters that have a development to them, rather than a stereotypical portrayal of a 'airhead hot chick' vs 'unflattering geek'
@@user-fx8rk2jm3wIt removes Daphne's charm making her too competent or well put together, she works best as just the cheerleader of the group and being fantastic at it.
Be Cool is both unique while also familer. Comforting and adventureous. It's up there as one of my favorite episodic takes. The characters maintain their personalities like you said. But are sometimes a little goofer with their exaggeration and self-awareness. It never feels painfully meta in any way. Which would have been an easy trap to fall into like we've seen with a certain other show we dare not mention here. I like the variation of art styles that supports that campy tone as well. Everyone is full of so much comedic charm.
Right? I'd neve even heard of it before this video. I'm not sure about the art as it's kind of... Ugly... But if I can get past that I will 100% go for it
Ive been singing the praises of this show for YEARS. I always dislike that everyone dismisses it as a "seth mcfarlane" show, because when you watch it, the animation feels so different, and the backgrounds, and side characters elevate it. It blends a modern style with the classic original in a very unique way, when you're looking beyond the surface level. This is my favorite Daphne, and she's hilarious. I still rewatch the vending machine gag, because its perfect comic timing and the only benefit to Velma, is that its making people look back at other scooby properties. I'd argue this is the EASIEST scooby show to binge watch. It just does all the jokes and gags the right amount and doesn't over stay its welcome. Its the easiest one to rewatch and just turn on and feel wholesome, and somehow captures the spirit of the original series.
@@windupgo awwww thanks for saying all of that. I’m so happy you enjoyed what JCB and I created with our amazing team. Hopefully more and more people will learn to accept the look for what it is but really enjoy the main thing we did, and that make an amazingly good comedy with fun mysteries. Thanks for standing up for us:)
Mattew Lillard will always be shaggy. Man owns the role and does a beautiful time preforming. Glad he always comes back to play him when he gets the chance.
I never realized how little attention Daphne traditionally got until _Be Cool_ started going crazy with her character. And I loved everything she became!
With the release of velma, I'm so happy that people have been revisiting the 2010 scooby doo shows because of that abomination. Mystery Inc and be cool scooby doo are underrated in different ways. Mystery Inc was taken away way too fast while be cool was never given a chance due to the family guy art style. This show isn't my favourite but I appreciate the different takes it has on the characters
@@mainstreetsaint36 Regular Show doesn't really count since it's character are anthropomorphic..... things, humans are secondary at best so their look doesn't really Impact the show, unlike in Scooby where they are the main characters
That’s how I described the show to my husband lol. “Every member of Scooby Doo is the same except Daphne has been replaced with Francine Smith in a wig.” And I’m ngl, I was really there for it lololol
I feel like the main reason people didn't give it attention was part because of the art style but also the timing tbh. since it came out after mystery incorporated, which is considered by many to be the best iteration of scooby doo, i imagine a lot of people didn't even consider it. i know i never actually watched this one
I know i didn't because i wanted Mystery Inc to continue and the artstyle threw me off and it was around that time in the 2010s when a lot of people my age were beginning to demand more serialized cartoons like Gravity Falls and the hate on comedies like Teen Titans Go began. At least that's how I remember it, but it was mostly due to it being a comedy when what i wanted was more Mystery Inc.
the writing of BCSD is a HUGE let down after mystery incorporated that actually had respect for its audience and felt like a legitimate continuation of the formula but BCSD reeks of "well kids will like it" its just lazy from the cheap lazy animation to the same "WOW SO RANDOM" humour EVERYTHING had at this time which would be kinda okay if it wasn't trash and wasn't a scooby doo cartoon
I LOVED Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! When I first saw it I was afraid that they were trying to do a Teen Titans GO! version of Scooby-Doo like they had done with Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls earlier, but I was glad to be proven wrong. It's a show that I can keep going back to and laugh at each and every time...we just need more shows out there like that where you can just genuinely laugh at comedic art like this.
I love Be Cool Scooby Doo Daphne and also the scene after the chase the characters opened up to each other. They felt real. Boomerang's 2015 to 2020 era is actually pretty underrated as a whole.
This show had some very real and raw moments in it and I mean it in the best way. Awesome show. This is also, my favorite version of Daphne. She was the heart of the gang.
@@thetechnocrat4979 WOO HOO- So glad you loved the show and got what we were doing with her! Wish we could have explored Velma a little more, but it was hard to juggle all 5 plus a mystery, plus a villain and 1(+) red herring(s), ya know? Velma's "minds eye" stuff we did in the first ep was pretty dope, though. (the explanation of "Kingston University" and her 'finding the book in the library' stuff) we wanted to do more of that, but just had too many other things to service.
@@beckswallace hiiiii! How are you??? Why am I using TH-cam to talk to you- ha! Super cool how much li e BCSD is getting, right?!? People need to know how much awesome work YOU did for the show! You are a major reason this show is so great!
I did not watch be cool when it came out because i felt resistant to the new art style. I decided to give it a shot literally last week and have been binge watching episodes. It’s actually quite funny and well written, definitely a good palate cleanse after the intense-ness that was mystery inc. I felt it does a good job of staying true to the original formula while adding to it and staying unique, something that (imo) what’s new failed to do.
I was kinda put off by the shows art style at first but after I gave it a shot it was surprisingly well written and was hilarious 😂. It’s defiantly underrated and I hope more people watch it. It was really funny that shaggy and Scooby are the meta guys.
So true, BCSD really is one of the franchises most underrated installments. in fact i can still remember a lot of people saying how it was terrible and an insult to the franchise that it was the Teen Titans Go of Scooby Doo, but with the new Velma series around i guess people now think that is makes "Be Cool Scooby Doo" look like a masterpiece by comparison and i think so too.
I think your right. I remember that, at the time, I didn't want to watch it because the art style reminded me of TTG (I hated that show, still do) and the little I had seen of it was a few of the dumber jokes so I just didn't watch it. I even hated it for a bit but eventually I just didn't care about it at all. Now, as you mentioned, it is a comparative masterpiece!
I HAVE to agree, Be Cool is super underrated. I agree that it doesn't have the best look in the series but it more than makes up for it in the fun factor. I haven't watched the whole show but every time I caught an episode, I simply couldn't stop watching and it was always pretty funny! Recent... "events", in my opinion, make the show even better in retrospect.
Yeah, but it was a continuation of mystery incorporated, and when your continuing a series plot and ideas, you really shouldn't change the art style completely, and change the writing.
When the show came out it was easily hated by nearly everybody! Mainly because of its Weird, Family Guy Centric art style and humor which compared to today- is a breath of fresh air! Honestly it's now recognized as a more funnier, though different, Scooby-Doo series compared to newer incarnations; and personally I enjoy it! But still to this day, I want to know what did Daphne do to piss off the entire ocean?!
They look nothing like Family guy characters. If anything, look to Regular Show. The character looks and style of humour are more similar to that than Seth MacFarlane's show.
I always loved Be Cool, one of the few cartoons that can actually make me laugh out loud- Honestly right up there with Spongebob. I like how even though it parodied the scooby doo formula at times, it always felt like it had love and respect for the series, which is something that a lot of shows I won't name could learn from.
I've never laughed out loud as much at any iteration of Scooby-Doo as I have while watching Be Cool. It's SO good! I really wish more people would give it a chance, as I too feel it's extraordinarily underrated. The line that really sold me on just how ridiculous and amazing this show was is when Scooby and Shaggy were dressing up as scarecrows and standing in a corn field in order to serve as decoys for the monster of the week, and they started very loudly talking about how pointless and empty their jobs as scarecrows are and how they're not good at it at all (all in order to help lure the villain out of hiding by making themselves seem even more like sitting ducks), and Scooby suddenly declares -- with his Scooby-Doo accent -- that he feels like "Sisyphus of the corn." It doesn't get more absurdist than that, and I absolutely love it.
@@JimboPro Oh, without question! Mystery Incorporated is my #1 favorite Scooby Doo iteration, hands down. As it is with a lot of people, I think. Be Cool does manage to be FUNNIER, though, overall -- at least, in my opinion. It doesn't have as good an overarching story, the side characters aren't as good, and the characterization isn't as good, so it's not nearly as much of a complete package as Mystery Incorporated. But on the humor scale, I feel Be Cool edges out Mystery Inc by a bit.
It’s my dad’s (who was born the same year the original came out) favourite iteration of the gang, I remember one time a few years ago my dad call me down with “Hey [spacecadet] I made fries and downloaded a bunch of episodes of be cool Scooby-doo because I’m an adult and I can do what I want, do you want to join me?” I love my dad. Edit: I actually brought this up with him and the most relevant he said was about daphne, he said that maybe the reason she was so all over the place was to make up for her oringinal lack of personality
@@shaggypoo4120 awww, thanks! Unfortunately I seriously doubt there will ever be another season of BCSD. I'm so glad this video was made! Be-Cool is definitely one of my favorites, and it's super underrated. I always gets laughs from the episodes and I never get tired of rewatching them over and over again. Everything you said in the video is on point! I also loved how Daphne was in this show, and pretty much all of the characters really. One of the things I loved most is the last two episodes with Professor Huh, I thought that story was really unique, cool, and creative and definitely something I didn't expect
One of my favorites parts of the show was the two part Professor Huh episodes too. Also, this show had who I think is probably at least top 5 scariest Scooby Doo monsters.ever. I’m talking about the episode that is a somewhat parody of the movie Phycho. Anyhow it’s a great show!
"Perhaps I was too harsh on you" is the best way I feel about the show. I would rather have had another season of this show, over...a certain other show.
@@sarahsims6164 Yeah, agree. only problem is I wasn't;t there at the end and my writer would have left if they did more. This show can't work without us.
This is my favorite version of the Scooby gang! Honestly, they feel incredibly relatable and are positively adorable. They are like younger siblings to me in this.
Finally people are giving this a chance! BCSD is honestly my favorite series of the franchise -- it's funny, the gang dynamic IMO is at its best here, and for me it has the highest rewatchability. In all honesty, it took me a couple of episodes to get used to the art, but the humorous and creative writing easily endeared me to it. Also, each member of the gang gets to shine and have their own very distinct personalities that blend so well together no matter how they split up (or not) when searching for clues. I hope more people can discover how great this really is, until now I still feel like it's a shame to have been cancelled so soon.
@@zacmoncrief238 OMG, thank you for your work on the show! It really is a great watch. My absolute favorite is the Sons Hotel episode because it feels like a love letter to horror movies. I actually watched this show in its entirety before Velma even came out. I think it's really funny, easily tied with Mystery Incoporated and What's New as my favourite Scooby show
It's very funny that the art style of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo looks exactly like the art style from Brickleberry, Paradise PD, and Farzar. I have to say that this show is quite underrated and I do have to agree with you. Just imagine if HBO Max's Velma looked exactly like this. That would be hilarious, like a typical adult cartoon mimicking the Family Guy/Brickleberry art style.😂
This the best version of Daphne for me! Exceedingly quirky, a wild card. You never know what she's going to be up to in the next episode. Top 5 ScoobyDoo show 👏
I love how the Velma show being universally hated basically gave this and Mystery Inc.(2011.) a new lease on life when they were both shafted when they initially released. The former was ignored by most because of the artstyle, myself included, and the latter (my personal favorite) was screwed over because CN didn't properly *advertise* the damn thing so most fans didn't even know it existed until it was alredy on its final season and the plot had gotten too conplicated for people to just pick it up
This was actually my favourite scooby doo series. Also I remember the series having a grand total of 51 episodes, with the series finale being a 2-part about a villan that can bend logic. I think I have watched the whole series save for a few episodes. I AM OUTRAGED BY THE FACT IT IS UNDERATED
This is actually my favorite Scooby-Doo show. I've been defending it for years but I guess now that the internet has a new Scooby-Boogey-Man people will start to warm-up to this great show.
I'm glad it's getting more recognition all these years later. I remember at the time people were turned off by it, even had some people pissed I said it was a good show lol. A lot of us more die-hard fans of BCSD have really tried to get the show more attention since it aired because it really is a good show. If one good thing came from Velma, it was people discovering this underrated gem.
Absolutely living for the BCSD redemption era and thank you for covering it (as a big fan starting from 2015 I was stuck watching slagging reviews for years). It got overlooked by art but nobody checked it was written by Phineas and Ferb writers and how each character update worked well with the setting and tone.
I avoided this show like the plague because of the art style, but I recently (like 4 or so months ago) binged it and honestly it's one of my favorite iterations of Scooby-Doo. And some of the gags only really work with its art style.
Loved it when it came out and still love it now. My problem with audiences today and even when this came out is that people aren’t open minded to anything anymore or hold on to nostalgia so tight that we’re stuck in the reboot/remake era; and people hate those too. Media can’t survive or breathe without people opening up to it and I’m always open to something new. Basically Love Be Cool, Scooby Doo honestly top 3 iterations with A pup & the original.
Thanks for the support and kind words. We are so happy people are finally giving this a chance, but even happier to see the ones that were there with us in the beginning!
Its really not nostalgia for the most part, the show didn't do well because it was a follow up/continuation of a show alot of people loved, and then completely changed the artstyle and writing.
Too bad that _Be Cool Scooby Doo!_ got severely underestimated because it looks like a Family Guy cutaway gag that becomes a full series, but the show turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable than most people made out to be, in terms of good writing and humor. It still has the Scooby Doo charm to it more than _Velma_ would ever be.
Go back and watch the episodes where that version of the Scooby Doo kids appear, trust me very different. The Family Guy versions look more like Family Guy characters (Scooby is Brian with a Scooby skin, Velma looks like Meg. Now compare them to the show Regular Show, you'll see the character types are way more similar; slender limbs, wider gaps in the character's legs.
It's both funny and sad that what it all took for people to realize that "Be cool,Scooby doo" wasn't that bad was for a way worse show to arrive also another thing worth mentioning is how different both of them are,Velma has the artstyle being the only thing going for it,while everything about this show other than the artstyle was well-made.
Personally, I always felt like this was the show where the cast for Mystery Inc was the best. Because it was more based on comedy than any other iteration. It allowed the voice actors to go all out with their performances and hold nothing back. Frank Welker as Scooby and Fred in particular feels like their doing something completely different. Whereas even in something as good in Mystery Incorporated, it kind of felt like the voice actors were just doing their usual shtick. In this series though, I feel like their the most expressive, versatile and funny.
I think what threw people off was the character design. Some people said it looked like a family guy parody but to me it looks like a brickleberry parody. I like it though. It really makes you appreciate it since velma series released.
You know a lot of ppl have been doing reviews of "Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated" or "Be Cool Scooby-Doo" since the abomination of "Velma" released on HBO Max, and honestly, I'm enjoying these reviews and makes me wanna go back & watch these!
Velma has shown us there’s an audience for Scooby Doo still, and that audience really wanted a good show. An adult animated Scooby Doo should be a mix of Be Cool and Mystery Incorporated: mature themes with the quirkiness that makes it Scooby Doo and maybe a little vulgarity here and there but not overdone. Scooby Doo has always been funny without being an adult cartoon. I’ve always wanted one but after watching Velma, I really just love shows like Be Cool. I don’t think I’m alone in this either. I never gave this a chance until the other day but man, did I miss out or what? If another adult animation attempt happens, keep it close to the original. Don’t try and force adult humor into it. Just have that option there. If not, give me something like Be Cool because I’ll watch it every single day of the week. Rant over.
Dude, thank you so much for making this video! I passed this show by for years because of its art style, but your video made me finally check it out, and I'm loving it so far! ^_^
LOVE IT! Never been into Scooby Doo much until 'Be Cool, Scooby Doo' The format, humor, tone, script and personality of all the characters are spot on. ✨🏆✨ Also love the way they wrap up each show with a fun, quick recap! Honestly at the time this show was coming out my mother, cousin, and I all were actively getting together to watch Scooby-Doo after school and while we watched Whats New with him, my mom and I watched this and absolutely loved it. I genuinely don't know everyone hated it so much off how it looks. Fred is a Chad in this show lmao
Omg I’m so happy somebody mentioned this, this may be my favorite Scooby show because it’s a great memory with my family and the humor in this show is just so unique.
I never watched this show. But when it came out, i immediately thought "in the future, something worse will come out and we are gonna appreciate Be Cool Scooby Doo"
I love everything about this show! I was waiting for someone to do a review on this particular Scooby-Doo series. The writing is genius, the animation is bold and refreshing. I wish they would have continued to make episodes. Thank you for reviewing!!!
I thinks its because people don't like comedy focused shows and instead want everything to have a story and depth. Nothing wrong with it but its sometimes bad since it sometimes lead to bashing of shows like these because of its previous take.
I just recently found this channel and I'm loving it. Most of the videos pull some obscure memory from my childhood and all the good feeling and associations come flooding back. Inject the nostalgia directly into my veins. I can't wait for you to cover Whats New Scooby Doo as well as the various movies. There is so much fantastic Scooby Doo content for you to make videos about. Keep up the great work! Ive gotta go back to binging your other videos.
Thank you for making this video. I whole heartly agree with you. It may not have the best art, but the writing is incredible. It is by far the funniest of all the Scooby series. This is probably the series I have watched the most. (Ok to the original) I wish there were more seasons of this show. Again thank you for bringing this show to light. A greatful Scooby fan.
"It is by far the funniest of all the Scooby series. This is probably the series I have watched the most." - Bro, I am the same. Most definitely my favorite iteration of the Scooby Doo franchise. Sadly, I arrived at the party late, discovering it through clips here on TH-cam only a couple of years ago.
My friends and I watched this as a joke because of the art style. It became our comfort show almost immediately. Be Cool Scooby Doo deserved so much more
Just finished watching this iteration of Scooby Doo. Initial thought it was an adult swim version 😂 (bc of the design) but I’m glad that I was wrong. It was different & unique in a great way. Wasn’t sure that I would like it at first though. So good!
I'll admit, I DID find it surprising just how FUNNY this show was! My favorite episode was when the gang went on an airplane, and it turned out that a giant gremlin was roaming it with them!
I will admit, i was one of those that just "followed the hate bandwagon", but over the years i learned to think by myself and not just follow what everyone else did and the new VELMA series made me (and a lot of other people) remember "Be Cool Scooby-Doo" and look for clips, or watch it in HBO MAX or whatever. And tbh, i LOVE the comedy in this show, i LOVE the design of this show, i love the show, but i wasnt able to love it back then because of my "Take everything everybody say as absolute true no matter what dont question it" child mentalitty. Sad really
This show along with bunnicula was a breath of fresh air for me at the time when CN keeps brodcasting TTG and Nickelodeon's endless spongebob episodes that are often from the new seasons
The art style definitely had the biggest effect. I remember feeling like they Family Guyed Scooby-Doo and were targeting that demographic. I also recall the advertising not helping with that either
Between Shaggy and Scooby’s snarky attitudes, Velma’s dry wit, Fred being the butt of most of the jokes and everything about Daphne this easily became my favorite iteration of Scooby Doo and I still rewatch it around Halloween every year!
I honestly think Velma released as it did just so people would give a second chance to "Be Cool Scooby-Doo" and i wouldnt be mad if that was the true, but we know it isnt :(
I always liked this show and thought it was the only way to take Scooby after a show like Mystery Inc. Nothing is going to top that show in themes, characters, tone, ect. But the one aspect that can be taken is the comedy. And like you said, drama cartoons were on the way out and show like Teen Titans Go were coming into style. It is a very good show and I love the ability to pick any episode (Aside from the season 2 finale) and know everything you need to know. Also, I stand by this is the single best Daphne in anything Scooby ever. PUPPETS!
I remember watching Be Cool Scooby Doo and loving it. It was funny and the meta humour actually landed without feeling forced or like it was poking fun at the source material (Cough cough *Velma*). Each character had such vibrant personality, the monster designs were really cool, the chase scenes were iconic and goofy as they should be. I also loved the mystery with Fred's dad being this insane criminal with an evil puppet hand. I'm surprised the show got as much hate as it did because, aside from the art style (which was nowhere near as bad as some of the cartoons coming out around that time), I think this show was a great watch and a cool homage to the original Scooby Doo. It's what I consider a good modern reboot.
Thanks so much for watching! What were your thoughts on Be Cool, Scooby-Doo? Which Scooby-Doo series should I talk about next?

I remember originally not watching it because I just wasn’t a fan of how it looked (especially after how much I loved the art style from Mystery Incorporated). But after being told that it was actually good, I gave it a try and found myself enjoying it! Just goes to show not to judge a book by its cover. Granted, I still don’t like the art style that much. But the show itself isn’t bad in itself 😊
It’s the equivalent of Teen Titans Go vs Teen Titans. Everyone loves the “original” and hates the art style.
@@BlueGriffin20 nah, the art style for ttg is fine, most people hate the humour
I think the art style for Be Cool had to be changed somehow. It's much more comedic and and random. I don't see the more realistic style we're used to would have conveyed the comedy as well. Probably didn't have to go completely brickleberry on the style though.
This show is the definition of Don't judge a book by it's cover
That and Problem Solverz. I know I sound insane for saying that but trust me, that show has some good writing.

Glad to liked it! We really loved what we brought to the others, too, but Daphne was the most extreme and easiest to see what we did.

I remember seeing a few episodes of this show on Boomerang a few years ago, I was initially put off by the Family Guy art style, but since we were in a hotel at the time, me and my friends decided to continue watching and we were pleasantly surprised at how funny the show was, we were laughing out loud at some scenes even
That's quite the accomplishment for a show, since we were typically edgy 17 year olds back then
I'm more shocked with Daphne in this series. She's beyond unhinged, great with puppets, but the ENTIRE OCEAN seems to have a serious grudge against her!!!
I still want to know why that is.
They gave her the Lola Bunny treatment (from The Looney Tunes Show)
@@user-fx8rk2jm3wIt removes Daphne's charm making her too competent or well put together, she works best as just the cheerleader of the group and being fantastic at it.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!
The show was truly underrated. I’m pretty happy seeing more people see it. Hope it gets more recognition as the years go by.
I agreed.
Especially after Velma
Right? I'd neve even heard of it before this video. I'm not sure about the art as it's kind of... Ugly... But if I can get past that I will 100% go for it
It's not though, just cause Velma made a new low for the franchise doesn't mean we need pretend to like the cr@p inbetween
Kind of sad it took until Velma of all things for many people to accept this show a watch, stupid...but better late than never, I guess?

Not what we intended, but Im glad you liked it:) Daphne was our favorite character too, but we really loved all that we brought to the others as well.
I feel like the main reason people didn't give it attention was part because of the art style but also the timing tbh. since it came out after mystery incorporated, which is considered by many to be the best iteration of scooby doo, i imagine a lot of people didn't even consider it. i know i never actually watched this one
Kinda like Revenge of the Teenage Mutant Turtles and TMNT 2012
I know i didn't because i wanted Mystery Inc to continue and the artstyle threw me off and it was around that time in the 2010s when a lot of people my age were beginning to demand more serialized cartoons like Gravity Falls and the hate on comedies like Teen Titans Go began. At least that's how I remember it, but it was mostly due to it being a comedy when what i wanted was more Mystery Inc.
It also reminds me of the Pokémon anime when the change from XY/Z to Sun and Moon came
the writing of BCSD is a HUGE let down after mystery incorporated that actually had respect for its audience and felt like a legitimate continuation of the formula but BCSD reeks of "well kids will like it" its just lazy from the cheap lazy animation to the same "WOW SO RANDOM" humour EVERYTHING had at this time which would be kinda okay if it wasn't trash and wasn't a scooby doo cartoon
And this is the follow up to mystery incorporated story wise, so changing so much kinda killed it.

The one good thing Velma did was help us appreciate the overlooked iterations of these characters.

I've never laughed out loud as much at any iteration of Scooby-Doo as I have while watching Be Cool. It's SO good! I really wish more people would give it a chance, as I too feel it's extraordinarily underrated. The line that really sold me on just how ridiculous and amazing this show was is when Scooby and Shaggy were dressing up as scarecrows and standing in a corn field in order to serve as decoys for the monster of the week, and they started very loudly talking about how pointless and empty their jobs as scarecrows are and how they're not good at it at all (all in order to help lure the villain out of hiding by making themselves seem even more like sitting ducks), and Scooby suddenly declares -- with his Scooby-Doo accent -- that he feels like "Sisyphus of the corn."
It doesn't get more absurdist than that, and I absolutely love it.

If one good thing came from Velma, it was people discovering this underrated gem.
it took something like NOT Velma, to make us realize how good we had it with Be Cool
Although the show is still amazing
Velma is one of worst show tv show I have ever seen in my whole life
If I remember one thing about this show, it was that I absolutely loved the take they did on Daphne. She really shined in this one.
It's both funny and sad that what it all took for people to realize that "Be cool,Scooby doo" wasn't that bad was for a way worse show to arrive
also another thing worth mentioning is how different both of them are,Velma has the artstyle being the only thing going for it,while everything about this show other than the artstyle was well-made.
I only harsh on any other versions of Scooby, but am thankful you enjoyed what we did with OUR versions of these characters.
This show has the best Scooby Doo comedy in my opinion, I can just pick a random episode and enjoy it.
It's got so many good running gags and callbacks to recent episodes. Also love the disguises and chase songs
I’m glad people still appreciate Be Cool Scooby Doo and Mystery Incorporated, I really enjoyed those incarnations! 😊
LOVE IT! Never been into Scooby Doo much until 'Be Cool, Scooby Doo' The format, humor, tone, script and personality of all the characters are spot on. ✨🏆✨ Also love the way they wrap up each show with a fun, quick recap! The gang are so much more charismatic and Scooby Doo as a charcter is hilarious in these. Need more of this style please. 🙏
“Perhaps I treated you too harshly.”
you certainly did
Honestly at the time this show was coming out my mother, cousin, and I all were actively getting together to watch Scooby-Doo after school and while we watched Whats New with him, my mom and I watched this and absolutely loved it. I genuinely don't know everyone hated it so much off how it looks. Fred is a Chad in this show lmao
FINALLY! Someone else who doesn’t hate this show! I always got a good laugh out of it, especially with how quick-witted it was.
And damn you were right...
I love everything about this show! I was waiting for someone to do a review on this particular Scooby-Doo series. The writing is genius, the animation is bold and refreshing. I wish they would have continued to make episodes. Thank you for reviewing!!!
How can this show be underrated. It had more comedy than the others and its style was very cool as the name suggests.
(Ok to the original)
I wish there were more seasons of this show. Again thank you for bringing this show to light.
A greatful Scooby fan.
"It is by far the funniest of all the Scooby series. This is probably the series I have watched the most." - Bro, I am the same. It's perfect when you want to relax and have a laugh, or just have something lighthearted in the background while doing other stuff. I love this show so much, great to see others sharing the same POV
Be Cool is genuinely hilarious. Not only for kids, it's truly top shelf wittiness for adults, but still in a wholesome way, love it.
If I can say there ever came a good thing from the Velma show is that some people realized they judged this show a little too harshly
Scooby doo fans: Perhaps I treated you too harshly
Most definitely my favorite iteration of the Scooby Doo franchise. Sadly, I arrived at the party late, discovering it through clips here on TH-cam only a couple of years ago.
Velma is what everyone thought Be Cool Scooby-Doo was going to be
My friends and I watched this as a joke because of the art style.
Sad really
This show was an absolute blast. I wish we'd gotten more seasons because this was probably one of my all-time favourite Scoobs 😭😭
The art style looks like a cross between Gravity Falls and Family Guy
I honestly think Velma released as it did just so people would give a second chance to "Be Cool Scooby-Doo"
and i wouldnt be mad if that was the true, but we know it isnt :(
never got a chance to see this one, but it looks really cool, glad to see Jordan cover it
I always liked this show and thought it was the only way to take Scooby after a show like Mystery Inc.
PUPPETS!
Scooby-Doo fandom to Scoob after Velma: *Perhaps I treated you too harshly…*
Definitely an underrated show. The "family guy" art style turned a lot of people off, but it really did fit the personality of the show well.
The jokes are what made this show so iconic!! It was amazing!
Velma is making this show look like a masterpiece right now
Everyone and their mother to this show after watching Velma:
*Perhaps I treated you too harshly*
Honestly, I love BOTH Mystery Incorporated and BCSD!!!
To me, the balance of adult storytelling for MI and comedy for BCSD is a bright spot.
