But April (and all the other girls) called their parents and told them they were spending the night. Assuming their parents already knew they were at a birthday party in Stars Hollow because the party was being thrown by April's dad. OF COURSE there is going to be a woman with your daughters overnight and not just Luke. It would be incredible inappropriate if it was just Luke. So what would those parents think? Would it have been better if the girls were alone upstairs?
Even if it WASN'T an overnight slumber party, it was absurd to think one adult was going to handle the party arrangements and all 10+ girls by himself. That's a lot to manage. Most parties that I've thrown, or helped throw, or been to as a kid, were all attended to by *multiple* adults. And no one knew every single person that was going to be there. She completely overreacted. It wasn't even like Luke left the premises or wasn't there if one of the girls felt uncomfortable or needed help. He was literally right downstairs. He would have known if there was booze, fire, or if anyone tried to leave. God, f---ing Anna.

I HATED this season. Everything Luke did was written so incredibly out of character, there is NO WAY he wouldn’t have noticed her almost crying at the end there, there is no way he would’ve lied to her for that long. WHY did it have to be that the second Rory got back there had to be another reason why they can’t get married?! Why was Lorelai never allowed to be happy?

honestly i don’t blame anna. i mean if luke would have just introduced lorelai to her before then she wouldn’t have been mad. i mean it’s understandable for her to get angry over the fact that her daughter had stayed overnight with a women she didn’t meet/know yet. if luke didn’t push lorelai away and let anna and april meet her way before it wouldn’t have been a problem.
Agreed I think a lot of these people are so pro Lorelei/Luke that they have trouble seeing anyone else’s point of view. And tear down anyone that can possibly get in the way of their relationship. It’s absolutely reasonable for a mother to want to know who’s spending time and pouring into the life of her child, Lorelei is an adult and she will inevitably have an influence on April- as kids we all seek to learn from older people whether we realize it or not they have an influence. I think Anna's basic feelings are right; she just goes WAY over the top expressing them. She's not cutting Luke any slack, despite the fact that this is completely new territory for him and not one single parent apparently complained about anything. The biggest problem with Anna is that she's so obviously a plot device more than a person on this show. Wouldn't the vast majority of remotely normal people go to Luke in this situation and say: "Luke, the party was amazing, the girls loved it. But I really need you to let me know who's going to be there in advance and not do spur-of-the-moment changes like that. I just can't leave April with someone I haven't met." And the "Lorelai can't meet April until you guys get married" business is absurd. As you so rightly say, Luke should have introduced them immediately. I have to agree with Ana on this one. She’s never met Lorelei it’s not very respectful for Luke to leave April alone with her without notifying Ana. Luke’s new to the dad thing so I give him some grace, but realistically no parent would be okay with that. As much as I dislike Anna, I can’t help but think she’s acting like this because she was so used to being a single parent, she’s not comfortable with anybody else taking care of April. I sometimes think this is how Lorelai would be if she were more controlling, like Emily.
This show is very nuanced. Showing Sookie setting the tables was supposed to show how much of a control freak she is. All these little details they throw in is more character enrichment and excellent writing

Luke, come on. We'd already broken up by the time I found out, and I knew how you felt about kids….. You hate kids. That's what Anna told Luke of why she didn’t tell him. And Luke openly admits that even though he hates kids he would make an effort to love her kid.
No wonder you misinterpreted characters and defended this pathetic mother. Since you can’t even remember what she does.
You can’t really know every single person your kid interacts and those you do you can’t really be certain you really know them. Everyone is a stranger and your kid is bound to hang with strangers. And she didn’t have this problem until a new mother role model came to be. Be a grown-up and deal with it.

I understand that Ana was upset, manly cause she didn’t know Lorelei and she just wanted to make sure who her daughter was with. But I think she went overboard by telling Luke afterwards that she can’t see her daughter anymore🙄 like it’s his daughter too and she didn’t even tell him he had a daughter.
I would understand Anna being upset how about Luke having an adult at the party that Anna did not know but Luke doesn't get to decide who Anna has around Anna does not get to decide who Luke has around his daughter. Like you said this basically lands on Anna anyways because she is when he kept moving out of April's life
Anna is so frustrating if she'll let Luke be a part of April's life from the beginning then this would not be an issue now

As much as I dislike Anna, I can’t help but think she’s acting like this because she was so used to being a single parent, she’s not comfortable with anybody else taking care of April. I sometimes think this is how Lorelai would be if she were more controlling, like Emily.

This show is very nuanced. Showing Sookie setting the tables was supposed to show how much of a control freak she is. All these little details they throw in is more character enrichment and excellent writing
