@@peterisawesomeplease oh god I really hope you haven’t seen any classic shows because the revival only had the sentimental value to it. honestly nothing else to it.
@@Ella-fv4hm I think it had basically the opposite of sentimental value. It went out of its way to destroy the feeling of attachment to the original show.
@@peterisawesomeplease I’ve read your other points as to why you love it so much, but I literally could not watch the show. Just so much cringeworthy parts in there. It felt like a season 7 do over because I think that’s what ASP intended. Almost unwatchable for me
Its not a cliff hanger. I mean yes its a cliff hanger in the sense of the YA teen drama that Gilmore Girls was disguised as. But its a resolution for the real story about class warfare and privilege. From the first perspective we are wondering who is the father? Will she get back together with the father? But in the "real" story it completes ark of comparing Rory's life of privilege to that of the people who lack it(Lorelai(money and freedom), Lane(money and beauty), Emily(freedom) and Paris(beauty) . Rory is choosing to be pregnant despite having no job, no meaningful relationship, and not having to struggle. She can always get the guy later because of her beauty. She is "pretty girl single". She has the finances to work on whatever she wants because of her trust funds. She is only "rich broke". Compare her to all the other female characters who either never get the choice or who have to work maddeningly hard for it. The revival starts out as a shock as they take us out of the Rory's book version of start hallow and put us in the real one. But the central drama quickly becomes will Rory end up the happy one despite all of her flaws or will the characters were are supposed to be rooting for(everyone but Rory) find happy endings. The last 4 words make it clear that Rory still wins. Only Emil's happy ending is left to sooth the tragedy.
@@peterisawesomeplease I didn't really see it as Rory winning, rather as a repetition of Lorelai's own life. No matter how differently Lorelai and Rory were raised and grew up, Rory's story eventually circled back to the same place Lorelai was before her: feeling lost in life, single and pregnant.
I LOVED Emily's ending! She grew so much as a person! Through the entire original show we see that she thought she didn't do anything and wanted to do more, but she never did anything about it I guess bc she was scared, in the sequel tho she know's what she wants and does something she likes! Although they did Rory and Lane really bad in the sequel.. they made rory look like a 30 year old loser who achieved nothing in life and I hated it! Lane's storyline made me so sad bc she didn't get to peruse her dream, the thing that she fought for her entire life- her music, but instead she was just working at her mom's shop, the only thing that I liked was how she wasn't getting a divorce or something like that she stil had her family and we finally got to see her dad!
i wish they had explained why we never met or really heard anything about lanes dad in the original. Maybe they did and i’ve just forgotten about it, but he seems like a strange choice for a new character to be introduced in the revival. Personally i had assumed he died when lane was little, i feel like they could have just left it like that. Just a thought
Watching Gilmore Girls when it first aired and you’re Rorys age. Binge watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix, suddenly you’re Lorelei’s age. Funny how quickly that happens...
So true. I first watched it on tv when I was about 9 or 10 and it finished airing when I was just starting high school. Now i'm 28 watching it on netflix having lived through private schooling and a uni experience and entering the workforce. Definitely a different viewing experience watching it as an adult than a kid.
'Cuz they (the producers, writers, etc.... NOT the characters) were stoopid about it. I could have seen them get married in season six or seven of the "original" show, and I think it would have been *GREAT* . I have *ALWAYS* despised Rory's out-of-charcter encounter with married Dean, but I have *ALSO* despised Lorelai's hookup with Christopher. Both "encounters" were just such a waste of what could have been *valuable* screen time.
cause they wanted to add drama and didnt know where to add it so they ruined the only good thing about this show which is luke and lorelai's relationship🥴🥴🥴
Bc the Shermam-Palladinos left during the 7th season and the new producers went a different route. The original producers didn’t even watch the 7th season and I think a lot of the cast didn’t like the way their characters ended up in the 7th season either, but I think the original intention of the Palladinos was to have Luke and Lorelai reconcile during the 7th season.
yeah they ruined them in a way. I hope they have more time in season 7 for luke and lorelai. they were just friends for so long b4 they got together. its great that they got married in reboot but its just different. they can add a baby if they need more story. that would be so awesome
I rewatched the entire series in this lockdown and i still am in love with it. Netflix should come with shows like this because this is pure gold. I don't know why people watch that Riverdale shit and not this
I think one of the things we love about the original GG is how simple it is, because it was made in a different time. The whole show didn’t revolve around phones/social media like many modern netflix series do. Unfortunately I can’t see how they can make anything resembling this in today’s world :(
I think the circle of life just repeats - lorelai pregnant with rich christopher but ended with luke, rory pregnant with rich logan maybe and then maybe ends with jess - and that repetition is left for your imagination. The Daughter like the mother. Both needed/needa a journey to come to happiness ; and still lorelai evolves and wants to create a bigger hotel and so on .. again she has to borrow money from emily.. what do you Think?:)
I hate it too but last I think I had heard in a couple interviews and things that Amy Shermin-Palladino the writer had always planned for that to be the end with those 4 exact words that was her vision. Even though I don't think we are gonna get anymore im really hoping we do.
@Ally The problem was "all was good". Gilmore girls at its heart is a show about the advantages of class and various other types of privilege. Lane is always shown as a good person who tries to do the right thing. But she is not privileged. Her family is not rich or well connected. She is not particularly naturally pretty, charming, or talented. So despite being a good person who we are meant to root for she ends up settling like most women ultimately are forced to do. This is contrasted with Rory who's privilege allows her to treat people like shit but still end up in a much better place. We don't see the outcome of Rory's second chance but its obvious her beauty and trust fund mean she gets to follow her passion and keep the interest of almost any guy she wants rather than settle for a job to pay the bills and the boyfriend she can't remember. So yes she was "done dirty" but it is part of what makes Gilmore Girls one of the most brilliant TV shows of all time. Gilmore girls challenges us to see the everyday tragedy of our class system and hope to break the cycle.
Ok so like am I the only one who ever wondered what happened to dwight and his wife doris? I hope she got her board games back. Especially the trivial pursuit
i don’t get why everyone hates dean so much? Obviously apart from cheating on his wife and his character becoming a bit boring at times, what did he really do wrong? He was great to Rory, she was the one who strayed from him and even cheated on him with jess. He definitely deserved better :(
@@rachelx1371 I think it's mostly Jess fans, who think to like Jess one must hate Dean, becsuse they were 'romantic rivals'. I honestly loved Dean. Never found him boring either. The cheating was the only storyline that bothered me. But then again, Rory and Logan have also cheated and fans tend to overlook their faults, but for some reason they never forget Dean's .
Colly carson i completely agree! i probably worded it wrong when i said he was boring - that was just based on what others say. A lot of the characters in the show cheated and made mistakes, but are still put on a pedestal (like jess, who was admittedly an absolute dick for a while), but when dean does one thing wrong everyone hates him? Doesn’t make sense!!
@@rachelx1371 Its like one character has to be put down for the other to look good. I mean, aside from the fact that he reads and is a smart mouth, Jess isn't anything special. So the only way people justify Rory leaving an awesome boyfriend like Dean for Jess is to make Dean look bad.
Oh yea totally jess and rory could live out their lives in a little house in stars hollow writing books and raising her child to not be spoiled and make the mistakes she and her mother made.
We NEVER got an ending. In the original gg rory should have said yes to logan, she loved him. And they could have got married when they were a bit older, it ended with Rory being single in the original show, the sequel was supposed to give us an ending but instead it just messed it up more? I mean that's it? She's pregnant? Without a job or a boyfriend? She basically had nothing, and the sequel was unrealistic, the whole thing with Paul was unrealistic in my opinion, and 'summer' was annoying bc most of the episode was just this stupid play. In the original Gg they would have shown plays and stuff for like 3 minutes and it was so much better then like half an hour of a play, if I wanted to atch a play I would watch a play. I wanted GILMORE GIRLS .
Apparently the final four words of the original show were going to be the same ('Mom' 'Yes' 'I'm pregnant') which, love it or hate it, would have made more sense as a plot point when Rory was young and about to make her way in the world (just like her mum, albeit a bit older) - but in her 30s it's a bit like, oh okay well she'll be fine - she can just write her book while pregnant lol. I loved Emily's ending though

I like how this show was written to be fast paced and how a person Lauren , through her own life as a youth developed her ability to do the things that actually were needed to be able to play the main character of the show, ie memorise lots of dialog in a short space of time and speak quickly , her mannerisms , expressions , her body movements , her look, I felt she made the show , she is an incredible on screen presence
i love how the first and the last scene of jess was with luke and he went from one word to a whole conversation / in other words BEST CHARACTER IN TV HISTORY (not saying development cuz he was perfect since the very beggining)
For me that was the best part of the entire revival. They could have destroyed the theme of the show and given her a happy ending. But they did the right thing and gave her a bad one.
@@lanara2004 I assume you are talking about Lane and not in general. Anyway basically nothing happens with her. She is running the antique store while raising kids with Zach. She hangs out a bit with Rory and the their band, which is not much of a band anymore has a little jam session. There is a great little scene with Zach getting a job promotion but not being excited about it because clearly his dream was music. Many people hated this ending for Lane because Lane was shown as a person with big dreams and a rebellious spirit. We wanted to see her become a rock star or something. People also hate that she ended up with Zach because unlike Lane's first boyfriend or Rory's string of guys Zach is portrayed is this sort of dull guy. But I actually though that Lane's ending was one of the best pieces of TV I have ever seen. The whole idea of the revival is to show stars hallow with the fairly tale filter removed. Where as before although Rory's life outside of Stars did not have that filter all the time Stars was always given the fairly tale small town treatment. And this goes along with the wider theme of the revival and the show as a whole. Which in case you missed it is an exploration of the effects of privilege. Lane is not privileged. She is not supposed to be drop dead gorgeous like Rory. She does not have rich family or private schools like the Chilton crowd. And while perhaps talented she is never shown to be some natural musical genius. She is shown to be a good person who is loyal to her friends and works hard. So we hope this will bring her success. But that wold be against the entire theme of the show. The theme of the show is that privilege gives you second chances. Rory gets to screw up relationships because she is so pretty. Jess will still want her even after all her BS. Lane has to settle for the just decent guy. Rory gets to screw up her career but because of her education and family wealth she gets to wonder aimlessly until finding her real passion. Lane and her husband have to get boring jobs rather than follow their rock star dreams.

I always rewatch Gilmore Girls when I'm going through a rough patch in my life/mental health. Just watching this made me cry a little bit. Thats how you know its a great show.
I thought I would never say this, but I literally cried when Logan and Rory didn't get their final happy ever after in The Year in The Life. I know that their story will obviously continue since Rory was pregnant with his baby, but I wish we could of saw how that went over with her telling Logan. It makes me so sad that after 5 years they haven't continued their story. I just wished they used some of the other 7 seasons to add these storylines instead of leaving us on such a cliffhanger.
My wife and I watched it all the way through twice. I really liked Dean in the beginning but after watching the whole thing again we chuckle how all 3 of Rorys boyfriends now went on to be on successful shows. I really could have seen Rory now with Jess then the first time I watched it. We really like the show and the writers did a great job in picking the cast to play their characters.
"No, i'm sorry, we're completely booked. No, there is really nothing i can do. Yes i'm sure. I'm positive. I don't have to look ma'am i'm- Yes of course i'll look.. *puts phone on desk... picks it up* no i'm sorry we're completely booked"
Am I the only one that thinks Rory's storyline makes perfect sense? I love it, it's brilliant because it's realistic, I feel like a lot of the fans just wanted her to be perfect nonstop and Lorelai support system, like she wasn't allowed to develop a personality and make mistakes. Like in real life people that were too perfect as kids and teenagers often do not have the bright future everyone expected them to have and on the other hand people that suffered and struggled a lot like saying the first two decades of their lives, usually get their shit together with the belief that they can provide a better life for themselves, Lorelai only excelled as an adult for example
I know a lot of people hate on Gilmore girls being ruined by Rory but I think it’s an important lesson and true to real life. Things don’t always go as planned. I get it Rory messed up a lot but it made her more human. Idk when I see Rory in the later seasons I can’t help but think she’s just lost and trying to navigate her way through life. I love that the show shows that growth doesn’t happen right away and that it can take time for characters to grow and heal. She messed up but that doesn’t mean she can’t become better from it.

Almost unwatchable for me
@@Ella-fv4hm To each there own I guess. I agree that it is a season 7 do over.
IM SO UPSET WHY WOULD THEY LEAVE IT ON A CLIFT HANGER “I’m pregnant” GIRL WHAT I NEEED TO KNOW MORE -
same
the creator of the show wanted that to be the last 4 words but she didnt get to do the last 2 seasons of gg so she did that in the revival.
I know me and my sister screamed but there’s supposed to be a second year in the life
@@peterisawesomeplease I didn't really see it as Rory winning, rather as a repetition of Lorelai's own life.
@@rachelx1371he exists, I think he’s briefly mentioned in the revival but I could be wrong
Watching Gilmore Girls when it first aired and you’re Rorys age. Binge watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix, suddenly you’re Lorelei’s age. Funny how quickly that happens...
omg so true!
I first watched it when I was 11 now im 17, time really flies 🤯😭
Yes!! This show started when I was Rory's age. Just started to watch again, and I'm 35. It is so fun to relate to the opposite character.
And we’ll all still be watching it at Emily’s age
So true. I first watched it on tv when I was about 9 or 10 and it finished airing when I was just starting high school. Now i'm 28 watching it on netflix having lived through private schooling and a uni experience and entering the workforce. Definitely a different viewing experience watching it as an adult than a kid.
awww RIP Edward Herrmann, still miss him.
The development in Rory‘s voice is crazy
Okay but why did they make it so long for Luke and Lorelai to finally get married -
'Cuz they (the producers, writers, etc.... NOT the characters) were stoopid about it. I could have seen them get married in season six or seven of the "original" show, and I think it would have been *GREAT* . I have *ALWAYS*
despised Rory's out-of-charcter encounter with married Dean, but I have *ALSO* despised Lorelai's hookup with Christopher.
The original producers didn’t even watch the 7th season and I think a lot of the cast didn’t like the way their characters ended up in the 7th season either, but I think the original intention of the Palladinos was to have Luke and Lorelai reconcile during the 7th season.
because as much as i love them they have some APPALLING communication issues
yeah they ruined them in a way.
Unfortunately I can’t see how they can make anything resembling this in today’s world :(
The older I get the more I realize how self-center both Lorelai and Rory are.
shut up
I was just talking to my wife about this. My realization was that Mitchum Huntzberger was 100% right about Rory.
I used to think that too, but now I don’t. Mitchum huntzberger didn’t have an accurate understanding of how journalism has progressed.
Samee Like what they did made me mad
Lorelai isn't
I don’t understand why they left it on a cliffhanger and decided to end it there completely like it made no sense
Anna it could be for that reason
I hate it too but last I think I had heard in a couple interviews and things that Amy Shermin-Palladino the writer had always planned for that to be the end with those 4 exact words that was her vision. Even though I don't think we are gonna get anymore im really hoping we do.
We should protest!!!

The First and Last Lines Spoken By The Gilmore Girls Characters
...for now.
wdym for now !!
@@majd9187 I cant accept it's the end! There has to be more.
@@starsurvivor arent they making another season of the revival?
🥺🥺are they gonna make a revival of the revival??
Tey D they’re planning on it.
Lane really wasn't in Fall??? they did her so dirty in the revival
She's at the wedding but she doesn't have any lines.
Ngl they did her dirty when she got married
@Ally yes Dave was the best boyfriend on the whole show tbh 😔
Paris Geller was the best character.
She and Emily
Periodt
Paris , Rory , Make , Sockie Lauren , Dean , Luke , Jess are my favorit in gilmore girls ❤❤❤
I ended up loving her and wishing to see as much of her as possible. 🥰❣️
True. Impossible to disagree.
this makes me equaly happy as it does make me sad
also surely that wasn't Paris's first line??
I mean the show is meant to be a tragedy. So yea makes me sad. But it is also such amazing television that it makes me happy.
I feel your pain
I love this show so much. And Emily isn’t my favorite character but she definitely has my favorite ending. She really deserved it!
Am I the only one who missed Sookie in the last season? I mean she was in it for a few minutes but that was it :((
Yesss I did. I was so sad she wasn't in there long enough
Lane and Paris both deserved better, I expected much bigger things from Paris
RIP Edward Herrmann ❤️ what an amazing character he brought to life. Richard will live on.
This made me cry. I grew up with the Gilmores and I just can't accept it is over.
No repping Christopher!? Btw: does that man EVER age!? He looked younger now than he did 20 years ago! 😮👍
ikr when I saw him again I was very confused-
they dyed christophers hair but they couldnt dye zacks. zack looked 20 years older than christopher
I KNOW it looked almost like rory was his age
The fact that Kirk had any authority over people while working at Doosey's is hilarious lol. Specially miss Patty
Gosh these can't be the definitive last lines, I cannot deal with it
the one thing that pisses me off about Gilmore Girls is that kirk was first named mick. He was a dilivery guy.
Bc there want spoused to be a Kirk, it was supposed to be a one time thing, but then they wrote Kirk and Sean gun played him.
I know but Kirk had several names during the show
eilish forever yup they just couldn’t let that quality acting pass by. Kirks my moms favorite character
Haha I love him!

I'm literally ready to cry when Richards last line isn't in A year in the life like everyone else's :(
Dean's last line- "Pay for it this time." 😢😢😢😢😢 he deserved better.
i don’t get why everyone hates dean so much?
Colly carson you’ve hit the nail on the head there! Still, all of these complaints won’t stop me from binge watching the whole thing again🤣
The Logan scenes can make me cry. What a powerful start and end.
I swear if they don’t finish off that cliff hanger

Its not a cliff hanger in almost any sense. Watch a few episodes of the first season again and then watch the revival again.

@LAKEN POINTER ok be what you want 😢 it’s ok
@LAKEN POINTER why???
The world has literally never been the same since those last two words Rory Gilmore said... "Im pregnant."😭
That's what makes it so perfect. You can't forget about it = what shows have to do.
We can actually trace back humanity's downfall - the riots, the pandemics, the civil and political unrest - to that very line!
Dude no one's gonna say how different Mrs party looks?!
She is aging and has health problems nothing to talk about.
Agree, the musical in the revival? Man so ennoying and unnecessary
@@abcdefgold yeah but practically in the whole serie everyones thinks that Rory would had a good future and the revival presents a Rory as a loser i mean, where's the girl that fight for that she wants? (Sorry if i have bad grammar, english its not my lenguage)
@@abcdefgold ik, I feel like it would make more sense and rory and logan would probably still be together and then the ending would be perfect and the sequel would be sm better
The revival was garbage, imo
I like how this show was written to be fast paced and how a person Lauren , through her own life as a youth developed her ability to do the things that actually were needed to be able to play the main character of the show, ie memorise lots of dialog in a short space of time and speak quickly , her mannerisms , expressions , her body movements , her look, I felt she made the show , she is an incredible on screen presence
i love how the first and the last scene of jess was with luke and he went from one word to a whole conversation / in other words BEST CHARACTER IN TV HISTORY (not saying development cuz he was perfect since the very beggining)
Lanes life was terrible like TERRIBLE
I know they did her so dirty, she was too smart for that ending
For me that was the best part of the entire revival. They could have destroyed the theme of the show and given her a happy ending. But they did the right thing and gave her a bad one.
@@peterisawesomeplease what happened at the revival? I tried to watch it but i couldnt finish it://
@@lanara2004 I assume you are talking about Lane and not in general.

I love Emily her character development is so amazing

I know a lot of people hate on Gilmore girls being ruined by Rory but I think it’s an important lesson and true to real life. Things don’t always go as planned. I get it Rory messed up a lot but it made her more human.
Idk when I see Rory in the later seasons I can’t help but think she’s just lost and trying to navigate her way through life. I love that the show shows that growth doesn’t happen right away and that it can take time for characters to grow and heal. She messed up but that doesn’t mean she can’t become better from it.
