This scene makes me flinch. I know that it kind of gets worked out, and the discomfort is kind of the point, but just seeing how disjointed their were in the plans for merging their lives together is so uncomfortable. There are children involved! I know that Lorelai was in a vulnerable place and swept up in the romance of being Paris, but it's not like the wedding was literally yesterday! Lorelai knows that Christopher has a kid. He is a package deal now, he comes with a small child who needs to have a space to exist in their home, and Lorelai wanting this very small child to grow up in a room that couldn't be HERS, that needed to be kept just as Rory left it, was not practical. At best, running with her suggestion here, leaving Rory's stuff out would mean that it would likely be stained or damaged in some way. That line about leaving everything up as something for Gigi to "aspire to," in other words have Gigi live in the shadow of her sister, unable put her own things on the shelves or replace the Yale paraphernalia with posters or anything of her own, because her grown adult sister might swing by for the weekend and expect to be comfortable in what should have been GIGI'S bedroom? Oh boy, psychological number that would have done on her. And I know that Christopher didn't approach it great in here either---with how he's just casually springing into motion rather than introducing the ideas first, but oof.
