10/10 I'm feeling more confident to start hang gliding now.
Go for it!
Yeah, I want to start gliding
No hangglider pilot will ever forget the buzz of that first week. Mentally life changing.
Love
Awesome!! You did great in light wind takeoffs and nailed the landings. It is comforting to see there are still people teaching HG.
Brilliant
I have just booked my first lessons and these videos are inspirational to us prospective flyers. I look at this 5-year-old video and compare it those you posted 1 year ago and think "yes!, this is achievable"
Love hearing this - best of luck with your lessons! It's an amazing sport and much more in reach than most people realize. You got this!
What a beautiful place to learn hang gliding.
Hey ! Is that Mike Jefferson ? He used to live in here in Visalia years ago when he and flew Slick Rock/ Springville and Bear Mountain near Tehachapi, Ca.
John, when you earn your H3, you should come up to Dunlap (Sequoia Park) to fly with us local HG pilots? Patrick B.
Well done.
Earned my hang II off this hill, (Oct. 1982). Then right after proceeded to destroy my ankle while back packing. Spent lots of time in wheel chair, etc.
Sold my Super Lancer and my snow skiing gear. I loved the flying, and I'm totally paranoid of heights. If I even look at a photo taken by some one looking straight down from a tower my knees get weak and shaky and chills come over me. Somewhere I have my old license and Wings of Rogallo membership card

My original teacher at Levin in ‘17 also
I recognize those clothes 😊
Nice job dude you nailed it! I remember my first solo a memory you will never forget!
thanks!

I appreciate that you uploaded these Hang Gliding lessons, I watched a few of yours before I started to hang gliding and I honestly watched them every day and multiple times a day for ages!
Thanks mate. Hopefully one day I will fly California
See you in the air!
Thanks, man! That’s awesome to hear. Hope your flying is going well
@@jkellydome It’s going amazing! Hands down the most amazing sport 👍🏼
Super! I've just started and am hoping to do Ed Levin this summer.
Really enjoyed watching your video, looking forward to getting up there myself
go for it!
Yes i think every body enjoys watching !
Excellent job my friend 👍
You nailed that, great👍
Did my first Hang 3 solo in 1980 at Kagel Mtn in Sylmar. Total rush!!
great place to learn, I tried at an unmown field with gopher holes in it, I was afraid to run fast over it and my wing couldn't lift my weight, tried a bunch of different days but gave up in the end and sold my glider :(
Thats the perfect place to lern hang gliding! I wish I could had samething like that years later...
Did my first 150 at Ed Levin on that glider! Nice flight
Nice training!
Excellent video!
Lesson #4 ? Awesome !!!
thanks!!
This is the first one youtube suggested to me, would be nice if you linked to the others in the description.
thanks for the feedback - i added links to a couple other videos in the description
Thank you
this makes flying look extraordinarily easy lol
thank you
Very cool! Nice landings. I’m going through P2 paragliding training right now, and would like to hang glide as well down the road
Go for it!
Sure looks like a lot more effort to get your glider back to the top of the hill than mine though
@@SkidzFPV indeed. Effort required
Well effort is always required and if you want to do something you will put forth the effort. Obviously you can’t just fold up your wing in jump in the van, a little disassembly and reassembling is required. But to have both would open up more conditions you can fly in
Both sports are awesome (HG and PG) HG to fly in almost any conditions/time of the day and PG to be able to fly at many places where you can't take your HG with you
Not bad. That's a good start.
That looks amazing. I'd love to do this but too heavy at the moment
You know you best of course, but speaking as a 250lbs pilot it can be done! They manufacture wings big enough to hold 300lbs (more for the tandem wings), but the instructors generally ask a lot of questions above ~225lbs to make sure you can deal with running short sprints holding a 60-70 lbs glider. Learning while lighter is of course easier on the knees, if you'd prefer to go that route. It is indeed amazing!
Getting the HANG of it!!
Got it thank you watched I want to build my own have a mini one for myself
nice job
That guy's ready for a soarable site.
I have to do this!
Find an instructor and go for it!
Dude @ 10:32 I was punching the air for ya !! that was freakking awesome !!
Thanks so much!
Thanks enjoy your videos so much unfortunately I live in Florida
Thanks! Have you checked out Wallaby Ranch? Pretty famous spot in Florida
gr8 flying!
Very good for the first time!
If I'm too high above the spot, surely, I don't have to pitch down but just spiral around?
awesome .
👍This is very excellent it's like a bird
Wonderful Bravo!
Thanks for the video - are you still hang gliding?
you betcha
Did you take publicly offered lessons? I'm also in the south bay and have been thinking about finding a way to learn around here... Thanks for the input.
There are quite a few instructors giving lessons at Ed Levin in Milpitas. That is where I started. I cannot necessarily recommend a particular instructor, but I'd recommend doing a search and trying out an intro lesson. Good luck!
Muito bom!
Niclt done.. soon be off down that road to top pilot,,
You enjoy ! well done bob uk.
Wahw!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
I am commenting late in the game, but this is a lesson for the pilot. We do not hear any instructions on how the piolt should hamdle the glider to make turns and hit the spot!
who's your instructor? thanks
Perfeito
Why does he have to do a left turn? Wind direction?
Aqui no Brasil essa é a aula do morrinho.
I want one

Toward the end of the video I feel the hit the spot mentality Is not helpful. we see a capable student pull on speed and execute a crap landing trying to hit the spot because his instructors have told him this means you did well. Much better to carry out a good landing just past the spot as a student. Everything else will come later
I think I landed there once. Yeah, ground effect will extend your glide about 50% more than a beginner would expect, trying to hit a spot will lead to crummy landings and broken downtubes.
How to make it
good
i can do that i can do that i can do that !!!
Don't worry this is about as scary as it gets. Taking off on bunny hills and landing again is the dangerous part. Once you get to soaring under cumulus clouds you'll love but even then be cairfall not to upset. You are a bug Compared to the forces of nature.
I´m learning English, maybe next time i will comment in your langage.
Is this ed leven
Yes.
How come the flyer could not fly back to the launch spot? (to avoid having to walk back)
the flyer is limited by physics ;)
sfbluestar And the wind.
sfbluestar top landing is an advanced technique that requires thermals or ridge lift. This is a beginner taking lessons so there is no lift when he's flying to keep the turbulence to a minimum.
Cast haha
Y YOU DONT LAND AT THE FUCKING CIRCLE???
didn't I?
Why do you want to drive, can you just take off and land the same way, on the way,? (guey) unas chelas frias guey!.😂,
Heres the thing thats not how u fly
