      They're planning two vehicles in the segment, the baby Bronco, which will be boxy and truckish or SUV-like, and this, which is supposed to be softer and more car-like.

    • @AndrewPL5

      I mean first off its a crossover, not an SUV. Secondly they even said its for the people who are moving away from cars and want something just a little bit bigger.

It helps some if I recline the rear seats. I wish my Escape could slide the rear seats back.

    I'm tired of people calling these car based vehicles SUVs. This is not based on the F150, it's on a Focus platform. It's a crossover utility vehicle (CUV)

    • @AndrewPL5
      @AndrewPL5 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah it is a crossover not an SUV...he is just calling it an SUV to simplify things

    • @mattg8116
      @mattg8116 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It should be referenced as a CUV, that is how it is eslwhere. also, something need not be F-150 based (or half ton equivalent) to be an SUV. Also worth noting, this is its own platform within the FWD/AWD unibody architecture, not simply based on the focus. The "baby" bronco coming soon will share this platform.

    Why are we so obsessed with towing?? It was clearly stated that this specific vehicle was designed with the urban environment in mind... How many caravans do we see getting towed in the cities???
    We have to focus on what the product is targeting and not what you want it to do for you otherwise shop where the functions you need are catered for which are the larger models.
    As an expat here I must say the Americans tend to be too scathing on their own products while too willing to overlook the flaws in the foreign brands.
    In the UK where I am from this car is called the Kuga and it outsells the previously large selling Nissan Qashqai so something has to be good about it...
    P.S. Roman, it's not a truck... Lol... Good video nonetheless...

      I tow frequently. I had an Escape for 9 months and put probably 10,000 of the 19,000 miles I put on that vehicle with a trailer in tow. It may not be something that most people consider, but it's what TFL is known for exploring. There's plenty of other review channels that aren't more utilitarian focus if you'd prefer that.

    Looks OK to me so far,..I went with an Escape in 2017 and I have to say two years and some 64,000 km (approx. 39,700 miles ) into it, I am pleased with my purchase; especially the towing capacity and engine power. ( 2.0 turbo ) and Ford's 'SYNC' system, are top notch performers.
    What I do NOT enjoy are the Continental tires that came with it only giving me some 38,000 km of tread life, as I had to buy new tires only yesterday. The tire dealer I bought from told me he is seeing this 'short life' from "OEM Continentals " , and he does sell all brands with no affiliation with any one particular brand. Just saying!

At the time, it was the only one of its kind in the US market but now these mini CUVs are flooding the US market. I preferred one these over a typical econo car like a Civic. And personally, as a dad, I would prefer buying my kid a small CUV like a Honda HR-V, Chevy Trax, or Hyundai Kona with AWD. @@user-tb7rn1il3q I guess most people have extra money for mid and top tier SUVs. Ford is capitalizing on that dropping all the cars but the Mustang and Ford GT. People with more cash capability will spend more for parts and service so Ford will make more profits by the nature of a bigger and more expensive vehicle. I've only driven cars and I like getting brand new ones every 7 years but I can never bring myself to spend the extra 4-6k for the same platform in the SUV style. I hope cars do make a comeback, not everyone needs to tow a small trailer or transport slightly larger cargo. OK, one thing I noticed that few others have (apparently), is the way the interior lights work. On my 2014 Escape, there is no 'map' light - not even a small LED. There are only side lights placed up and to the left and right of the front seats. Not helpful when trying to read something in the dark.
    I noticed right away that the 2020 model puts the damned light where it actually needs to be, while keeping the side lights. Good deal.

The battery isn't actually putting out as much power as the old battery packs. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, if the MPG has gone up. It just shows what people prefer to pay attention to.

    As much as I am in love with the exterior and interior design of this new Ford Escape, the fact that it's base is lower has me concerned. One of the reason I prefer crossovers over sedans is the raised seated position. Despite how interested I am in this vehicle, I'm concerned the seating position may be too low for my taste. I would need to see one of these in real life to judge it for myself before I would buy one. Still though this is definitely on my top 5 short list along with the new Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson, the Nissan Rogue, and the Subaru Forester. Hopefully I can make up my mind before next year, as I'm planning to purchase a new crossover in 2020.

    Lots of back-and-forth, good and bad comments about the Escape being a CUV made from a Focus platform. It is, I understand. I like This type of vehicle because I like to sit upright and thereby it is also easier to get in and out of. I like being higher than in a sedan so that I am not in everybody’s headlights so much at night with all the big SUVs and trucks out there. Glare really bothers me.
