The 2020 Ford Escape is Ford's Answer to NOT Selling Cars in the US Anymore

    Ford really shocked the industry when they announced all passenger cars in the US would be discontinued except for the Mustang a couple years ago. In order to fill the void left by cars, Ford would continue to invest heavily in crossover vehicles. The #FordEscape was one of the brand's first crossover and for 2020, its been completely redesigned from the ground up. The #EscapeHybrid also returns with over 40 MPG and a new Plug-in Hybrid with up to 30 miles of range will be coming later this year. While the design is certainly more car-like, we're hoping the loss of the Focus and Fiesta, will result in a much sportier #Escape and we're keeping our fingers crossed for an Escape ST in the coming years.

    I've been driving a Ford Focus hatchback for years. Just traded my 2014 Focus in on a 2020 Escape Hybrid SE Sport version. I've been a fan of small cars for years but now I have farther to drive in Michigan winters and AWD made sense for me. I'm really enjoying my Escape, and I think it looks really nice.

    I just got the 2021 Ford Escape hybrid and really liking it. I am getting a little over 41 mpg between city and highway. The style is nice, it is a smooth design. I have seen the CR V and not impressed by the design. The Rav 4 looks nice, but, end of the day, the Escape just did it for me.
    The only things I dislike about it are:
    -lack of storage areas. I am used to a lot of little storage areas, this have the glove box and the area between the seats, along with the doors. I would much prefer a few smaller areas to keep change, or other common items for quick access.
    -the info screen is at an annoying angle. It would be much nicer if you could angle it slightly to the driver, the middle and the passenger.
    -I would prefer a bit more information on the dash.
    Otherwise, it is a really nice ride.

      @@monro411 Well the fake wood trim even on the titanium is horrible. The weird design on the door panels is terrible. There's a lot of cheap feeling plastic. The center storage and glove compartment are cheap, they could've at least put shelves since they're so deep. They really cheaped out on the cargo area. The floorboard doesn't cover the entire area, things easily slide into the openings.
      There's a lot I like about it, but I bought the titanium. It shouldn't be so cheap. Though I bought it mostly on the ride feel and mpg.

I have a 2010 Escape it's a little tippy and doesn't go or stop in a sporty manner but it's easy to drive hauls people or cargo and has been very reliable. If this new one is more like the Focus it should handle a lot better and still be practical.

      It’s not like cars are dead either. Toyota and Honda still sell a lot of Camry’s, Civics, and Accords. The issue for Ford is that Americans don’t want SHIT cars, and would rather spend their money on a car they could depend on. I myself prefer cars over SUV’s but have no desire to purchase American vehicles unless it’s a Dodge.

    The biggest problem with Ford is that they eliminated the cheaper offerings in their lineup, and now you are stuck with either getting a slow and dated EcoSport starting at $20k or this for 5 grand more. There are still buyers who want a new car with a decent monthly payment and there are now very few car offerings. I have seen more Mitsubishi Mirages on the road than ever, and the used market has CPO ones hovering around 10k. They really alienated a crucial market to the Koreans and Japanese. I feel that was a bad move and we will see if it works out for them in a few years.

I think you guys are just Ford haters And only turn towards what everybody else is turning towards which are Toyotas and Hondas. I honestly love Ford. Besides Ford I choose Mazda. Toyota's are okay as far as design goes and Hondas they're design language is just ugly in my opinion.

    It looks good but its not a sedan replacement. I have a Focus Titanium hatchback. Between the idiotic Powershift transmission and the decision to remove all sedans and cars the only thing I'd look at from Ford anymore is the Mustang.

    • @danielleroux6490
      @danielleroux6490 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and the problem is the Mustang is not a practical car. The Focus hatchback with a manual transmission IS a practical, fun to drive car. I want to buy one, IF Ford will bring us the new Focus hatchback. Plus, if you want it, it has the all-new 8 speed automatic that no longer has the problems of the much maligned Powershift auto.

    • @mlosuno402
      @mlosuno402 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielleroux6490 I know. I followed the Focus Active news when that was all happening and was excited about the 8 speed auto and the new looks. But a 5 year old car with 40k miles and as many rattles as mine has is too big a turnoff towards small cars for me. My next car will likely be bigger and from a different brand.

    Mister Editor in Chief, the 1.5 is a new "Dragon" Ecoboost, NOT a carry over from the previous gen as you say. Displacement is the same, but it's not the same engine.
    Also, the Fusion has a 2.0 Hybrid engine. This is a new one based on the Duratec 2.5 engine.

  • @GHinWI

    Kinda wish he’d review vehicles based on their intended use, instead of rating everything as if it’s trying to appeal to “car community” type people.
    CUV’s like this need to be middle-of-the-road transportation. Making hybrid the default power train is brilliant...people buying this car want dependable transportation with minimal running cost (fuel burn).
    Maybe an ST version is worthwhile, but with an automatic transmission, will it really be any fun anyway?
