My parents brought home a German shepherd the same week they brought me home. He was my constant friend and protector for twelve years. And I've had German shepherds my whole life until our last passed away two years ago. He looked exactly like vilk. And made my life worth living. I'm now 67 years old and my wife is disabled. He passed away when I was in the hospital dealing with kidney problems. So I had to make the hardest decision of my life that he would be are last dog. My wife isn't capable of caring for a dog because of her health. And my health is such that it's inevitable that there will be times that I might not be able either. The hole that has left in our lives is enormous. Cherish the time you have. I love watching you and vilk on your adventures
As someone who hikes/camps with dogs quite a lot, always watch your dogs ears. If they hear something menacing (which will be before you do!) their ears will perk up or lay back, and you can often determine the direction of the threat by seeing which ear moves first. I adore your videos and look forward to more great videos!
Having dogs sometimes makes the experience more terrifying for me. We went camping last year with our dogs and they acted absolutely terrified at our campsite. Generally, they love being outdoors, but they were frozen stiff and quiet as they stood at our campsite. They were, for once, not interested in exploring (unusual particularly for terriers). It was clear that something was wrong. That evening, we had a lot of visitors outside our tent that circled around and kept returning to us all through the night. Predatory behavior. Should've been coyotes given the area but almost looked like a wolf to me when I peeked out (though not in wolf territory).

This was a breakthrough video. It isn't where you go or what you do, it is the experience and who you are with that makes it special. And Vilk is a special companion. You are a storyteller, I truely believe it is your story telling that makes your videos compelling and you so popular. Well, and that you are as cute as a button! That helps. 😁
When you mentioned about your socks being wet and changing them it brought back memories working outside in the cold rain. I always kept a change of shoes and socks in my trunk and at the end of the day I would change my socks and shoes....it was absolutely energizing and got me through the long slogging drive home in heavy traffic. Your pup is so full of life and energy how could you not feel that energy and lift out of your hum drums of life.🐶 Thank you so very much for sharing your adventures in the wilderness 😄
Worked 5 years in an Experiential Ed camp for court appointed teens. I always dried my socks out on the top of each shoulder under my shirt or jacket. Worked beautifully. If I couldn't hang them out the window on the van ...lol.
Nicely done. You put a lot of effort into these productions, that's clear. Editing, camera work, sound, are all really well done. Very watchable. I love the idea that we remember the times when we were uncomfortable or challenged. ... That's so true.
I wasn't stressed before, but I'm calmer after watching this. You, Vilk, and the scenery are all beautiful. However, I just adore your monolog. If those words were on printed page, I would have enjoyed reading them as much as listening. Thank you again.
I just turned 50 at the end of last month & now I have come to the realization that I now need to slow down & take time to enjoy things around me just a bit more & to enjoy the fruits of life even if it’s the little things that happen day by day . I just learned within the last 3 years that I shouldn’t dwell on things that are beyond my control & that was a great life lesson .
As always nice to watch / listen to you/ your experience and perspective- Thankyou. Have to say you’ve clearly worked hard on training Vilk - he seems to listen well! So happy for you that you have him as a companion during these adventures - not just safety but also the ride - he feels like the right companion! You mentioned another thing today - the wanting to go on or feeling that I can, because of ego maybe, and listening when it’s right time to turn around/ stop! That too resonated today! Take care and wish you wonderful adventures!
CAMPING AND HIKING IN THE QUIET OUTDOORS FOR MYSELF MAKES ME APPRECIATE THE LITTLE THINGS THAT I HAVE IN LIFE THAT ARE REALLY TRULY IMPORTANT TO ME. A GREAT HOME COOKED MEAL OR WONDERFUL DINNER AFTER A HIKE IN THE MOUNTAINS AT MY FAVORITE DINER OR PUB. A WARM COMFORTABLE BED TO SLEEP IN, A LITTLE COZY HOME TO RELAX AND INVITE FRIENDS OVER FOR WINE AND LAUGHS. BEING A SHY INTROVERT MYSELF BEING ALONE MAY SEEM NOT NORMAL TO MOST PEOPLE BUT, IT HELPS ME THINK AND PLAN MY NEXT ADVENTURE IN THE OUTDOORS.
I did a lot of backpacking in Colorado in the 70's and my three dogs all packed their on food. Didn't slow them up a bit. Eva I really enjoy your adventure's. Be safe.
I just had a flash back to my youth when, while walking around on the top of the snow, I suddenly plunged up to my armpits. Thanks for that memory! Fun times!
I really relate to the shift you're going through with how you relate to adventure - I make TH-cam videos in a similar spirit as yours - I left what was my dream home in the country, packed up my whole life, got my two cats (Lil and Bubba who travel with me) ready and this month marks 9 months on the road. Have felt myself at times think that "grand" must mean something epic... but I'm realising that it has more to do with the depth and substance in the stories that we live and share that seem to connect with people (epic is good too of course, both are!) Glad your enjoying this amazing country! Sending love from my little stretch of road to yours 💛💚💛
Eva, I wholeheartedly agree with your reflections about the value in pursuing adventure and being uncomfortable… thank you for making this video and telling this tale… the simplicity in your storytelling is refreshing compared to the unhealthy race for attention in social media extremes. Thank you for being you, and sharing your wild camping memory with us. Your invitation to North Idaho is still a wholehearted welcome…
Aww too bad there was too much snow to make it to the cabin! I’ve done that trail a few times and the view from the cabin to the Pioneer Mountains is spectacular. The roof says “the higher you get the higher you get.” Hope you can make it back to see it some day.
Looks like you had a great time, even in knee-deep snow. I laughed a bit at you setting up the tent and hearing thunder. We've all been there, done that, got the t-shirt. It's a right of passage as it were, and you're absolutely correct in that the discomfort is what makes the experience great. After all, how many days where everything went well does one actually remember? I'd wager, not many. Most of us form memories from things we've learned and new experiences we've had, including putting up a tent in the rain or dealing with a dog's soggy paws. There's nothing like waking up the next morning as you did, smiling and drinking a hot beverage, getting dressed and then putting on your boots only to immediately remember that you're boots were wet. You know this because the dry socks you are wearing aren't dry anymore, and the boots are not only wet, they're cold. It's all part of the experience. The only thing that could further cement the deal is when you pack everything up and hike to another location only to then remember that everything is still wet. It may be annoying, but it'll be a memory. Keep up the great work and keep smiling!
The trick to the dog is that they give more than they get. So keep on giving, gladly because those doggie benefits will flow. Not to mention what a handsome devil he is.
This is a life that I used to know. My dog and I. Sometimes accompanied by my late Wife. Alone in the wilderness and loving it. I can't anymore. I'm just too old and feeble. But, I do still go camping. I load up my motorcycle and travel to a campsite in the mountains. My Dog stays home these days. My Dog does not enjoy it anymore. He is twenty years old. The last time I took him, He complained the entire time and told me that He wanted to go home. I miss life as a younger person. Oh well. We don't live forever. Enjoy every minute of it while you can. It goes by fast.
Just started watching you a week ago and yes jumped around a bit in the video timeline and picked up a slight sense of your journey and transformation in outlook. While your adventures have this homebody (someone attached to home mostly for you Europeans if you don't know the term) living vicariously, your current insights on the journey, living in the moment and mindfulness are great to hear. Jeep up the great work. Don't stop. It doesn't have to be extreme every video to entertain. Oh, and you might do a contest for "homebodies etc" to go on a week's adventure with you and of course others you have trust in to be safe in a situation with a stranger. You can have people submit a video of why they want to have the experience. Just a thought.
Glad to see your enjoying your life , A word to the wise never fire up your stove on anything other than the earth or rocks, and never ignore snarling from you dog . Happy Trails stay safe
you are inspiringly brave! your camping in the wild is a model for exchanging fear for bravery. i liked the expression on your face in the middle of night, vilk barking and you trying to detect the noise out side….a duck for sure 😂!❤
I’m so glad you discovered my favorite place in the country. The Montana/Idaho/Wyoming trifecta. It’s definitely “gods” country, as some would say. Considering your extensive world travels, I find it interesting how much you’re attracted to the area. Obviously you don’t read all your comments. BUT.. If I could make a recommendation of one of the prettiest and most scenic drives in that area of the country. Please drive the Beartooth Basin Highway, and the Chief Joseph Highway (They lead to each other) on the Montana Wyoming border. You will not regret it. Easily could be a national park, but it’s not, so it’s (dog) Vilk Friendly!!
I’m glad you stuck with posting your adventures. They are truly enjoyed. I too am fortunate to have a fur buddy hiking partner. She always makes the journey more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.

@@reidcrosby6241 Great idea. Wet cold feet make everything miserable. Always wear wool socks. A billion sheep can't be wrong.
Thank you so much for the real video. Wish I could live like that with my dog . Mybe one day . Thank you, your dog is awesome
Beautiful views, beautiful story and you have one well trained pupper there... BRAVO!
You and Vilk are healthy looking critters! The dog is having a blast it seems!
Eva, this video was just perfect. No need for extra thrills. I love how well trained is Vilk. You should be proud💕much love from Budapest
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
He would do anything to protect you, I can tell. Powerful, handsome dog.
Wilk's ambush pose, he looks tough! He's such a beautiful dog! Happy exploring! Another amazing video! 👍👍
Outstanding video from the soul. Thank you.
A dog, solitude, and nature = heaven
That feeling of preparing fresh coffee in the morning when camping ~ one of my favourite
This is magical! Thank you for this, no drama, no big thing, just night in tent. Beautiful
I just want to say I love watching your travels and think your a very strong woman and to see the story of your life come to life in these videos
Be safe.
100% enjoyable and relatable. Camping is fun!
Eva, your dog is so precious I am so glad that you have him to protect you from any harm.
A relationship with a dog is like no other relationship. The time you put into training really pays off. Thank you for showing this.
Aww too bad there was too much snow to make it to the cabin! I’ve done that trail a few times and the view from the cabin to the Pioneer Mountains is spectacular. The roof says “the higher you get the higher you get.” Hope you can make it back to see it some day.
Thank you for practicing turning around in time and encouraging your viewers to do the same.
I heard a saying recently….Die with memories, not dreams. Thank you for sharing you and Vilk making memories!
Nature is more enjoyable when there isnt the need to reach a summit, or some grand adventure that must be had.. just let things flow and have fun
Hey 👋 care to chat 🪽
The trick to the dog is that they give more than they get. So keep on giving, gladly because those doggie benefits will flow. Not to mention what a handsome devil he is.
This is just as interesting & fun as any of your adventuring videos... I'll keep watching. I think most of us will
This is a life that I used to know.
Hope you continue to enjoy every moment too
@@evazubeckEva Thank you, Eva.
You have a wonderful way to tell your adventures. Thank your for your amazing videos!
Thank you for continuing to share your journey.
Glad to see your enjoying your life , A word to the wise never fire up your stove on anything other than the earth or rocks, and never ignore snarling from you dog . Happy Trails stay safe
100% agree
You videos allway fill my heart with a sense of warmth. Thankyou
Hey 👋 care to chat 💬
you are inspiringly brave! your camping in the wild is a model for exchanging fear for bravery. i liked the expression on your face in the middle of night, vilk barking and you trying to detect the noise out side….a duck for sure 😂!❤
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
Really, really loved this video. The gorgeous scenery and the simplicity touched my heart. Thank you. ❤
That might be in the works :) thank you!
We’ve done that route too and I agree! We live in eastern Wyoming and this is what June is like in Wyoming!
Animals make everything so much better. ❤
