"Learning to hear music differently" - this is important and fascinating. It's cool to hear that it was John Zorn that opened Mike's mind to that special 'something'. Mr. Bungle and Zappa were big in terms of how I liked complex and weird music, but it wasn't until I got into Amy Winehouse that I really felt like I unlocked something.

Their set at the chapel a few years back was fuckin badass. A fun moment from that show:
Just after they finished up Mike was on stage shaking hands with folks who had been standing up by the barrier.
My nerdy little ass: That shit was great man! Would love to do what you're doing someday.
Mike *points to Qbert*: No, do what he's doing! That's where the moneys at!

I’ve had this TH-cam account since 2006. It was intended to promote my drumming education videos. One of the videos got about a million views. Everyone told me to use my real name but it will always be patton303. Patton for Mike Patton and 303 for my area code. Mike will always be my #1 musical hero and I’m not changing that. Peace!

His talent is out of discussion, yet the new tomahawk album doesn't sound right to me.
The drums have ugly clipping triggers that should recall an acoustic sound, but get the opposite result.
Great vocals, great guitars, but that drums really ruined for me.

Glad I'm not the only one, I've never felt so MEH listening to a rock album. The drums sound lifeless and so do the songs imo
