I fall into SR's camp. If i had sufficient evidence that god exists, i would accept it. I would not worship it, however. I know this because during my deconversion, i stopped worshipping god before i stopped believing in him. While reading the Bible, i came to the conclusion that god was morally inferior to me, and it is unreasonable for a superior being to worship an inferior.
Interesting how much I disagree with Armin on his worship point too. I’m with SR on this one. The diety would know exactly WHY I’m worshipping and know it was for self preservation. This is ironically one of my arguments with theists. They worship for self preservation and the deity will know. I’m surprised Armin seems to believe he could trick an all knowing entity…..I get that he doesn’t assert all knowing but in the hypotheticals I’m presented it’s always a god that’s been presented in a story and attributes are known about the god.
But you assume this deity gives a crap about the motivation to worship, the Bible doesn't seem to show that, Yehwah seems super down with indoctrination and hypocrisy.
If the gods on offer could be proven to me sufficient enough to accept the reality, I could be brought to a point of fear, but that fear would never translate to worship.

He would have certainly been darker than most Europeans. I have seen depictions of Jesus from ancient times that were carved in stone that show him with short curly hair and no facial hair. Of course, those are probably made up as well. Adapting the appearance to individual cultures is something humans do with mythological legends. It's easy to get away with when nobody has actually seen that being.
While I can’t say for sure what I would say under threat of eternal torture, I would have to agree with SR in not seeing god as worthy of worship and not being sincere even if I was forced to say that I worshipped whatever god it was. 1:08:12 loved that argument though 🤣🤣
The hosts were right about Jasmin. Nothing she said meant anything. It was all empty phrases. And she really showed she didn't understand what 'making a claim' means, to deny doing so, then immediately making another claim. Everything she stated was a claim. She needs to understand that until she can convince us that her biggest claim is true, that a god actually exists, the other claims mean nothing. Prove that first, THEN all the other claims about that god.
KEY POINT IN DISCUSSION: Armin tried to mention how Qur'ān 2:184 in Hafs says that if you cannot fast, you can feed a poor PERSON. In Warsh, it says if you cannot fast, you can feed poor PEOPLE. He tries to make this look like a contradiction. But we know in the books of fiqh (jurisprudence) and tafsīr (Qur'ānic exegesis), these are both compatible for someone who cannot fast. Imām Qurtubī writes on the Tafsīr on 2:184: "The people of Madīnah and Syria read masākīn in the plural rather than miskīn in the singular, but the meaning is the same: one poor person must be fed for each day (of missed fasting)." Hence its one person per day, or multiple people if you include multiple days. Then Armin said you cant use scholars, and this is against the Qur'ān. However, the Qur'ān itself says to ask the people of knowledge, and the hadith as well. This is because the Qur'ān cannot be interpreted by anyone but must be interpreted by scholars who learned from teachers who trace back their isnād (chain) to the Prophet (peace and blessings from Allāh be upon him). SR tried to say, "well the Qur'ān says its clear," so anyone should be able to understand it, but this is referring to the basic fundamentals of the religion, not detailed rulings of jurisprudence. Also, they tried to say that the differences in the Qur'ānic styles are just like the differences in the Christian text, which is completely false. The Christians have entirely different bible versions with different number of books, and entire passages are removed from different versions. This is unlike the Qur'ān which has the same content, whether it is in the style of Warsh, Hafs, or some other style, and these styles are compatible in meaning, which I demonstrated. The cowards then kicked me out.
So the _"Qur'an cannot be interpreted by anyone",_ eh? Funny that, being that the Qur'an says the opposite: _And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?_ *54:17* _“ ....... a guidance for mankind and clear evidence of guidance and discrimination (between wrong)”._ *2:185* _“and We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly everything_ *16:89*
Your "argument" sounds EXACTLY like the "argument" used by Christian priests and churches against making English language copies of the Bible available to everyday people. They wanted to control the story, control the understanding, and this control the people. You claim is the same.
@@BlarglemanTheSkeptic2 The verses that talk about explaining everything and make everything clear is referring to the basic fundamentals of the religion. It doesnt mean now that everyone is qualified to make rulings on jurisprudence. The proof is clear: "O you who have believed, obey Allāh and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allāh and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allāh and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result." Qur'ān 4:59. The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings from Allah be upon him) themselves differed over the Qur'ān. Hence, someone would need to interpret scripture to answer questions that people differ over.

The entire problem with theology was built on the first scribe being dyslexic. Instead of “ Dog” he carved “God”, which is not even a word. At that time carving in stone was the only form of writing, it took a long time and it was expensive, often part of the buildings and not on a tablet that can just be tossed , so they went with “God” and nobody has ever agreed on its meaning.

Armin and SR arguing over belief after finding out some god exists was the funniest thing on the Interwebs today.
This pair are quite funny, it literally is the good cop bad cop version of debate. I’ll leave it to you to determine who is the good cop / bad cop.
They are the best. So nice and thoughtful both of them. I can disagree (seldom) but they are so good....
If the gods on offer could be proven to me sufficient enough to accept the reality, I could be brought to a point of fear, but that fear would never translate to worship.
Snarky Armin is my favorite. Almost as good as angry/fired up Forest

For ‘worship me’ Armin hears ‘submit to me’ and SR hears ‘love’ me’. Armin is right that under threat we would likely submit, but SE is right, cannot make yourself love nor deceive the god.

It's all just made up. Why don't you have a nice BLT sandwich and chill.
So the _"Qur'an cannot be interpreted by anyone",_ eh? Funny that, being that the Qur'an says the opposite:
_And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?_ *54:17*
_“ ....... a guidance for mankind and clear evidence of guidance and discrimination (between wrong)”._ *2:185*
_“and We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly everything_ *16:89*

But then there is the dog you treat cruely, which welcomes you when you get home.
Which is why “ Dog” should be worshiped instead.
