    The Batman Forever game doesn't just base its controls on Mortal Kombat, it's literally built on the same engine. On top of that, the game never clears RAM, so if you beat a stage and play the game again, large areas of each stage will be exactly as you left it when you beat it the first time. The game is an amazing look into development hell.

      @@woodeyelyegaming1401 It does, 'never' was a strong word I guess. It doesn't clear the ram on stage or game completion, so if you neither game over or power off the console nothing resets on its own, including timers for the timed stages. I heard about it during an AGDQ run.

      I wouldn't trust Ebay nor Amazon to get something like that, it could seriously be a bootleg, there's no warranty in that business, if you have a second hand game store in your home town specialised in that business then try to check them out in case they have a or a bunch of games that you're looking for, but whatch your back because some of them are crooked to the core...
      The prices are also subject to change any possible time, it all comes down to the store's owner...

      He must have listened to that crap for too long then. While the SNES Adventures of Batman and Robin has orchestral music right out of the cartoon, the Genesis version has extremely repetitive techno. I'm not saying a Batman game has to have music similar to the cartoon, but it just plain sucks. Both the NES and Genesis Batman games based on the Tim Burton movie as well as Batman: Return of the Joker for the NES sound a thousand times better. I'm convinced you Euro guys just haven't been exposed to as many good games as the US and Japan.

      @@Jazaraca Nope. Just more informed. You should really expand on the games you play and listen too. Anytime I hear a Sega fanboy gushing about the crummy audio on the Genesis or how great a techno track is, they're always from Europe. Most of the Sega fanboys I've talked to in the US will at least concede that audio generally wasn't the Genesis' strong suit and part of that is because they can appreciate more styles of music than just Euro-club techno.

    I might be the only person in the world that absolutely loves Batman Forever (on the Genesis at least).
    On the SNES the controls make zero sense, but on the Genesis with its very limited number of buttons, it actually felt like it needed some combinations to fit all the possible abilities and gadgets and figuring out and mastering the usage of those things was part of the fun and felt like progress.
    The game was very dark, yes, and that, coupled with some foreground obstructions to the view and the dark/misterious soundtrack created one of my favourite atmospheres ever.
    Don't get me wrong, I understand why people hate it so much, but I would say that if you truly get into it with an open mind, instead of getting ready to complain about the things that "should be like this instead of that", you might understand what I'm talking about.
    It's a very unique game somehow that I think was misunderstood globally.
    If you jump into it expecting a fast-paced beat-em up, you're going to be disappointed, yes.

    The comment about the AoBaR soundtrack on the Genesis/MD probably has something to do with not just the music not matching what the show or SNES version had (which matches the show), but that he probably played it on an emulator or even a later model Genesis. Virtually all Genesis emulators do not get the sound right compared to an actual Genesis (look it up if you don't believe me) and it makes the sounds way harsher and more higher frequency that a lot of people don't respond that well to. Also, the Genesis had later revisions that had fairly horrible sound chips. So even if he (or you) played on real hardware, the game might sound muffled or kind of crappy.

    Batman Returns is definatly my favorite SNES Batman game, The gameplay is fantastic for a beat em up game, the music from the movie is amazing, and its a really good movie based game. Adventures of Batman & Robin on SNES is much better than the Genesis version and I really adore that game.

  • @Luni25
    @Luni25 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m sure someone else explained this, but the reason why Robin looks weird is because this game was being made a bit before and during the production of the movie, and the video game creators didn’t have access to that Robin costume from the movie. So to get the game out in time, they just made a kind of Robin costume and ran with it.

    Well, i mostly agree with you.
    But as Batman Forever is one of my favorite SNES games i have to disagree. I can't recall the amount of time i'd spend on it, specially on the training/versus mode. It's far from perfect, but as long is it's fun it's enough for me. Also, in the 3 versions of the game (SNES, Genesis, MS-DOS), all 3 have different sprites of Robin.
    Just to add something; the only game that's mostly the same on both Genesis and Super Nintendo is Batman Forever. Returns and AoB&R are quite different (same with JL Task Force, if it counts for having Batman as a playable character), and also Genesis had Return of the Joker officially released, while the SNES version got unreleased (a prototype of it and reproduction of that proto are avaliable nowadays).

    So crazy thing. Batman and Robin was only about 20-40 before Batman vs. Superman came out. Then for whatever crazy reason it went way up. I still have my original copy from when it was released. But yeah I remember looking it up about the same time Batman vs. Superman came out and it was up to 90 bucks.

    Played the hell out of Batman Returns. Unfortunately picked up Batman and Robin but luckily it was cheap and used at Blockbuster. I have no idea why I never picked up The Adventures of Batman and Robin? I absolutely loved the Animated Series and the SNES. Was it a limited release or released towards the end of the SNES lifespan? I don’t remember hearing much at all about it at the time.

    I’m a big fan of your show and your content is usually spot on.... 🧐 however Batman and Robin on the Genesis has one of the best soundtracks of the 16 bit era! I get that taste plays a big part especially for music but to say that it plan sucks is ridiculous.

  • @NostalgicRoe

    Batman Forever isn't that bad of a game. Those controls though...what made them frustrating was that the instruction manual didn't even have them right! But once you figured them out, or at least enough of them, there was some fun to be had. But I always played with a second player, so maybe that's why I enjoyed it more than most.

    The Adventures of Batman and Robin was great, but... ugh... it could have used a few gameplay tweaks here and there. The biggest one is Batman doesn't run fast enough. If he ran 1.5 times faster, some levels would have been more manageable, especially for Catwoman's and Riddler's stages. In the Asylum stage, they could have used new bosses like Mr. Freeze and Killer Croc, alongside Clayface and Man-Bat. Finally, if there was a way to refill your items, that would have been much appreciated. Seriously, the Batarangs and Bombs were only useful against bosses.

    That Robin costume is not the 60s version. That's the 90s Tim Drake costume. So at the time, it was the modern Robin costume.

    • @DSan-kl2yc
      @DSan-kl2yc 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      shinmusashi44 still didn't March The movies. And it seemed like spandex. Also isn't the cape fully yellow..Tim's is black(sometimes with yellow lining).

    • @shinmusashi44
      @shinmusashi44 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well yeah it doesn\t match the movie. but that isn't the point my my comment nor was it the person from the video. Yeah Tim Drake Robin cap is black on the outside and yellow on the inside. but the model in the game looks far close to 90s Robin than it does 60s Robin. Change the inside of the cape to yellow and it's 90s Robin. 60s Robin looked nothing like this one. He wore only underwear and "elf" shoes.

    Batman Forever for the SNES was ridiculously hard to grasp for me as a child. I remember spending a couple of days to figure out some movements (I didn't have manual or anything like that hahahahhaa). But after that, I kind of like the game, but of course, there are better Batman games.
