I was going to make a joke about history repeating, and how there should've been a Phantasy Star Online game to go with it. Y'know, like how the GameCube also had a keyboard controller, exclusively for PSO as well. But apparently there actually was a PSO game on the DS, with online functionality, you communicated with picto-chat like messages. My joke was ruined, so have these two fun facts, I guess.

i remember buying a sealed copy of it in 2014 for 30 bucks shipping included from the uk to canada and i'll never get over how it's one of few purchases i have never regretted.
A fun thing about the keyboard that it comes with is that it's a pretty standard Bluetooth keyboard, and to make it work on the DS, the cartridge contains a tiny Bluetooth receiver, making it I think the only instance in the entire DS family of using Bluetooth for anything.
This game was Japan and Europe exclusive, hence why it isn't very well known elsewhere (other than Hardcore fans). It honestly looks fun and it sucks it didnt come here to NA.
I've watched a let's play of this game, and it looks legitimately fun. Having all the words be Pokemon names (which many Pokemon fans will have muscle memory for) shifts the focus away from seeing a word on screen and copying it, and toward testing your ability to recognize Pokemon based on their silhouette and cry. The boss battles where this banger comes from make clever use of where keys are positioned on the keyboard. For example, to block a horizontal attack in the bottom left of screen, you might need to type zxcv. Also, it incorporates the high score table into the narrative at times, where sometimes another character will have already entered a level to scope things out, and their name and score will already be on the table, which I just think is really neat.

Played this for charity a couple of years ago. it's honestly a pretty fun game
