I regularly played Hal in English Billiards when he was in his 80s and 90s. He has taught me so much and has forgotten more than I have known. And I could never get close to winning. Lovely guy also, have been thinking about him lately and am stoked that he is still around and playing. Thank you for the video
Forget about his playing ability, if this man is in fact 100, that is even more incredible, walking and talking like a 60yr old. Young mind young body, hats off
The things the algorism throws at you sometimes! i played in his 99th birthday comp there and won it! amazing guy! he's a very nice humble man and to have been in the presence of Walter and Horace Lindrum is incredible. Great video by the way! will subscribe! cheers
Lovely video. Still a fine cueist at 100, cheers for the upload. I'm curious as to the English player he was referring to if not Joe or Fred Davis, John Pulman perhaps?
As a rule it's a bad idea to play a cannon on your last ball as you're relying on both hitting it and also it coming out nicely into a potable position
I can't say if he's the best to ever hold a que, but for me Efren Reyes is the best I've seen playing, don't get me wrong Ronnie is a truly great player, but I've never seen anyone do what Efren has done. Hats off the this old chap being as good as he is at 100 years old, most people are lucky to live that long let alone play a great game of pool. I hope I have his abilities at 100 if I'm lucky enough to still be here.
Please excuse my language but that’s fucking awesome, 100 years old and being that spritely did you see how quick he was bending down for that chalk on the floor
Most young people today have no idea who Walter Lindrum was or anything about his genius with a cue, especially those who are not from Australia. It's too bad, because there was never anyone any better, IMHO.
@@dnbmania I don't understand what you mean by the two contacts have to be visible. Push shots are not allowed period, he pushed it,so it's a foul. But if you could please explain what you mean as I'm genuinely interested, thanks
@@robovac3557 because it’s the players that constantly bring that up, are the ones that have nothing when it’s time to back up all that chirping. There’s more to the game then just making the balls. Pattern play, positioning, speed control, good safeties, etc.
@@robovac3557 I agree. No matter what you still gotta make the balls right? I went a pool hall in Michigan and they had a gold crown with just over 3.5” shimmed pockets. It was challenging yes, but for practice only really. I think a 4” pocket is tight enough for an American pool table. Some pockets are ridiculously huge. 5.5” is to big. Nearly a half foot!
I'm from the UK and play 8 ball pool, is it just me but that Pool table is so slow and there's no reaction off the cushions, It looks like a childrens cheap table that they got for a birthday gift. I'm not trying to put down the ability of this great player but the Table is quite shocking.
There isn't enough money for new rails and felt basically. Commercial rents in Australia are a joke, and you can only charge so much money per hour for table time before people won't bother to come in. This pool hall is unlicensed too (and I'm pretty sure cannot get one even if they wanted to), so they have very limited revenue to play with.

I believe he's 71 in actual fact.
He has a hat.
PICKED THAT CHALK OFF THE FLOOR 1 SECOND…VERY VERY LIMBER..AMAZING.DR.BRYANT LANE.
My thoughts exactly.
Born to be Alive 😊
I played Hal last in 2018. He played so well and then cycled off to his spanish language lesson. What a legend.
Brilliant, playing like that at 100. Hats off to the guy
@19explanations "We don't stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing" - Shaw et al.... ~~Just me, RD
That's amazing that he knew Walter Lindrum. Considering he stopped playing 73 years ago not too many people alive today would have witnessed him play
"god im good", then leaves himself no bloody shot. lol.
Hats off, much respect to Mr. Hal
He left it on
So happy this came up in my feed. Ace vid. Last week I got beaten 8-1 by a 74 year old
One can only learn from better players.
The table looks good. He's made his "century ".Good for him.Well played.

Excellent match and hope you post more with Mr Hai playing.
thats really awesome but damn them pockets are huge!!!!!! guys like these are a treasure learn all you can from him.
So good. I just read that ray reardon done a century break at the age of 91. Some people are amazing
beautiful video
Respect you played hard he wouldnt want anything else but to be fair you had to 😂 he knows what hes talkin about bless him amazing guy 👍❤
I would be very happy to reach 100 and be doing what he is doing this well. Fantastic.
3:06 could you have run through for a cannon? Cant really see the angle? Maybe ot was dead straight?
yeh probably could have but I kinda wanted to play non sensibly to give him a chance but all my double kept going in

Fair play to the guy 👍🏻🍀
That table is slooow
Like playing on my front lawn lol
Red triangle! Dude, thats where I first started playing billiards nearly 20 years ago.
Yeh its the best, you should come back
@@scribblemouth I live in Warrnambool these days.
@5wisher5weet that's crazy, i actually went to school there! How small the world is, lol.
This is the most able bodied 100 year old i have ever seen. I would say in his 80s. He took the wrong yellow at the end in my opinion.
Well done sir 👍🎱
WOW!!!! Really cool, from a new player, I hope to gain all the knowledge he has

Jfk once betted his life on a frame.
No way he’s 100
I don't know why people think you're going to be less good at pool after years and years of playing...
Thank you
great vid
Very cool! Thanks for the upload, but Hal definitely fouled at 2:27
Yep I said that as well, definitely a push shot
Even though we know it's a push, don't the two contacts have to be visible

1:33 - "played to perfection, god I'm good"
Humility is key, as your following shot was terrible.
Thank jebus someone else saw that! There was no need to move that red!
I knocked a black in against a old boy at 84....it can happen?
Ya done him 😂😂
When the pockets are like buckets, ya don't need much of eyesight. Or skill.
Same played out comment.

To be able to bend over and stroke a cue like that makes me feel so embarrassed how sore how get after a 12 hour tournament lol
The shot at 2.31 by Hal was a foul push shot

Not very good tbh(neither player),but he's great for his age
