I've read somewhere on the Wiki that if V does all the side content and gets the Night City Legend ending with the mansion, their bio states they surpassed Morgan Blackhand soooooo.
Yes, I just played the game again for the first time and decided to shoot for the secret mission with the Sun ending. When you complete the final mission and choose the Sun ending, it does show that you surpass MB and are known as the Legend of Night City. It's pretty interesting, but also a little sad since V will not live on with friends and lover. This is more of an isolation ending before V gets into another insane heist planned by Mr. Blue Eyes.

The blue-eyes people are most likely Rogue AI that are controlling human meat puppets (bartmoss literally did this to the people that lived in the compound he was located in). Next if V decides to go with the Nomads they are leaving NC and going east, it says that there are a lot of tech wizards out in the world and the smartest and most technologically advance faction in Cyberpunk is actually a small faction of Nomads called the technomancers. They recieve contracts from all over the world to fix all sorts of problems for nations and corpos alike they are based out of Chicago and are considered untouchable by every faction because of how intelligent they are. Next theres the colonies on the moon and in space. They survived the Data krash and are independent from everything on Earth its why Lucy wanted to flee to there as Arasaka cant go there nor any other corpo or nation(last time they tried to take back the colonies after they revolted they had all their spaceports and magnetic catapults zero'd and their satilites had a gun poited to their heads with a big "play stupid games win stupid prizes" notification next to them.
SPOILER ABOUT PHANTOM LIBERTY AAAAAA . . . . . . . . if you think about it hope is never lost on V but I just thought they would make that like kinda of a movie style , they don’t show the ending and you decide (aside from some of them ofc) but with the ending of Phantom Liberty suddenly you find a way OUT OF THE BLUE THAT IS LITERALLY GIVEN to you (well depends the options they don’t just hand it out but ye) That means that Arasaka could prob cure him but lied That there might be another way also from the techies of Nomads And that it’s actually cute-able regardless Only thing is V’s status and how his nerve system will fanction or FUNCTION AT THE TIME of the treatment he wants to receive cause all depends on how the chip has progressed I love the idea of the chip saving him and trying to keep going basically reviving him at the start of the game but I don’t like the idea of a random tech piece with an engram pushing you away and you can’t do anything about it Like I get it but I just want a happy ending for V is what I mean I obviously love the game But all this emotion and stuff In one of the DLC endings (don’t even bought it cause no PS5 I only have a ps4) I LITERALLY felt the pain of him losing Panam.. you know someone loves you out there and it’s not smth you could do more but you went into a Coma for 2 years and suddenly everyone forgot what you did for them Mitch will call you in the credits or wte telling you to never call again.. you fucking helped em gain what they have. You feel so cheated with life And that’s the representation of the actual life I guess so I kinda get it… so sad but the point is basically you can find a way in probably every ending Even then tho you lose Johnny and especially after some scenes in Phantom liberty it’s sad by it fucking self
The thing about V is so far they seem to be the only person actually mentally prepared to fight smasher, Black hand isn't dying, Johnny had his WHOLE life ahead of him if it wasn't for a surprise smasher visit, David and his crew we're young and basically got jumped by smasher with little warning. V was ready to kill Smasher, not just for Johnny and everyone else Smasher DROPS but because they know Smasher will be there to protect the data fortress once Arasaka learns whats going on, V was ready to fight, prepared to take smasher on because it meant survival for them, V won not because of their insane amounts of augmentations, tho it did help, it was because V was ready to fight to the very end, prepared for it, Adam Smasher was another obstacle who had to be removed if they wanted to live.
Very well put, this is further explored in PL that Songbird and V both face a situation where they’re facing death in every seconds of their remaining lives, resulting in a determination and willingness to fight and burn everything down to live
You'd have to read the lore of Cyberpunk Red and 2020 to get why people are questioning V's strength. Smasher was a Merc who fought in corporate wars and is still alive to tell the tale until V, a normal-ish nomad/corporate/streetkid turns him into a burning pile of trash.
Played cyberpunk after watching edgerunners. When I realized during the chippin in mission that we are going on a field trip to the eubunike to zero Smasher on a two men army and my sorry ass V at level 28 I legit had a panic attack. Man what a let down did he ended up being tho😅
Seriously? I got the game a little while I haven't been doing many main missions. I'm already lvl 40. With a body and reflex build. Is Adam really that easy?

Or that Morgan didn't even see it as a rivalry and was simply too much of a professional to care about such a pissing contest. Given that to Blackhand the Missions objective was always the highest priority, closely followed by the survival of his team in second; It's easy to see why Morgan was the number one Solo, he didn't care about such titles or rivalries. Choosing to instead focus on bettering himself and achieving the objective of his missions, while taking as few casualties as possible. Smasher focused on beating Blackhand, literally, by any means. But knew that he would never match Blackhands experience and skill, so he made up to the difference with an ever increasing and changing list cyberware. Amusingly V is mostly similar to Smasher in that regard, they want to be recognised as a legend and will use any & all cyberware they can install to achieve it. They are more focused on being recognised than actually putting in the professional work needed to actually get there. They only get there after doing what would be an impossible amount of jobs, gigs and missions in such a short time. Even then, they are doomed to die alone shortly there after, even if they pull off the Crystal Palace Job. Doomed to die with no blaze of glory, but with the slow painful whimper of complete neutralogical degradation. It's honestly a pathetic existence V leads, which is especially evident in the Phantom Liberty ending. Spoilers Warned ya Where V, now after spending two years in a coma, is unable to use any cyberware and simply resigns themself to become a faceless NPC in the crowd. They judge their capabilities on their cyberware alone, completely ignorant to the fact that there are many successful people in Cyberpunk with as little cyberware, or less, than V in this ending. It's basically V attributing all their success to luck, Jonny and their cyberware. Which I find to be hilarious when people advocate that V is better than the likes of Blackhand, Smasher, Bartmoss, etc. It's all luck (Plot Armour) and Cyberware with V. At least Smasher takes his L's with professionalism and works to comeback stronger regardless. As for David, he was simply dumb enough to think he was special in a world that will use that misconception against him, ultimately leading to the pointless deaths of many he cared about and himself.

Adam is obsessed with Morgan because he sees Morgans mostly human body as an affront to his own fully mechanical body cause he thinks metal>flesh, it started out that way and became personal(to Adam only) cause Morgan never acknowledges Adam as a rival or accepts any duels. They only fight on top of Arasaka tower cause Morgan wants to recover Shaitan As for V seeing themselves as weak without implants I'm inclined to agree with the luck. V is kind of a punk at the start of the game(after the prologue) and is given a few weeks-a month tops left to live so going by that timeline. All the implants you amass+ the skills and attributes, that I in my head see as boosters, play a huge part in what V is capable of at the end not to mention Johnny's consciousness merging with their own. Johnny isn't the badass we see in the flashbacks that much is evident but he was still chosen to be part of the main strike force on Arasaka by Morgan so that combat experience has to count for something. Further on top of that a lot of the strong solos in cyberpunk aren't in the same situation as V, who at the end the new ending has absolutely no muscle or reflex boosters or any kind of combat related implants they're only capable of basic tech stuff like data transfers. The minimal implant solos and mercs are still boosted enough to crack skulls. That said V isn't a complete chump, they could still train to get some skills back but without reflex or muscle boosters they only really stand a chance against bottom rung scavs who aren't particularly boosted or implanted themselves

I wouldn't take a statement such as that lightly as this man is the mastermind behind Cyberpunk 2013 and 2020, he wrote Adam Smasher and Morgan Blackhand.
Even a Legend can only go on for sooo long. The guys a high funtioning cyber pycho whos probly pushing his 80s and in a CONSTANT state of fight or flight (in his case its always fight) whos probly replaced more parts than the average ripper. When you Factor in his age, dwindling sanity, and his ever growing narcissism you get someone who never backs down to the point of ripping off there own parts just to keep fighting a loseing fight instead of regrouping and reorganizing for a counter attack. When pitted agiast someone (who we are ment to believe) is a top tier mec. by the end of the game teamed up mentaly with someone with years of military/combat experience agianst corps. Its not soooo hard to believe Smashers luck ran out and time caught up with him.

lol Apparently he didn't play the Sun ending where V not only becomes the Legend of Night City, but its documented in game that V surpasses Morgan Blackhand. So......yea, V can in fact be stronger. We also don't really have the full details of exactly what happened between Morgan and Smasher during their fight. For all we know, someone or something interrupted their battle that cause one or both to leave / flee the scene.
You're really downplaying what V is capable of. V isn't just some street punk booster junkie with a rockerboy in their head. V was a capable street merc even at the start of the game. So much so, they attracted the attention of Dex Deshawn: one of night City's top fixers. On top of their natural skills, V is kitted out with a piece of Arasaka tech that probably costs billions. The relic changes EVERYTHING here. V is able to sport so much cyberware and overcome his/her physical limitations simply because they are essentially brain dead. The relic is keeping them alive like a puppet on strings, so simple physical limitations a normal human would experience simply do not apply. Obviously in cyberpunk you can have all sorts of different builds. But to my mind, canonically V is the ONLY person that can sport as much high tech and demanding cyberware as Smasher and not feel any negative effects. They're literally the one person that can beat him in a head on 1 on 1.

V is the pinnacle of the Solo. Raw talent, Johnny’s memories and experience, and the Relic combine to make V better than everyone else in the Cyberpunk universe.
I know they say Act 1 wasnt cut and it was never intended to be anything, but i believe it existed and it fleshed out characters more than what we actually got, cmon they expect us to believe act 1 was just meant to be a 30 second cinematic ?
Act1 was the whole david life experience, you start just in the level he died, or atleast that my head cannon (the experimental time stoper being the main rason why he went sysho faster).
It also could be that Adam Smasher underestimated V unlike other characters like Morgan Blackhand V didn't exactly have years of reputation preceding him. Plus as of the current game, V can essentially load up on all the cyberware they want without having the chance of going cyber psycho like other people would which gives them a huge advantage over someone like David.
As an old player of the table top, smasher was one of the most terrifying NPC, but the game is years later, and it looks like Adam is old and his gear is old as well. V being younger and also able to cyber up without synopsis snapping, this is why he beats Adam. It's not like it's an easy thing to do.
V is a player character. They're stronger than basically anyone in the verse in most circumstances. It doesn't matter if Adam or anyone else is shown to be near insurmountable foes, eventually they all go down to the Protagonist. 😂
That's what I've been saying. I actually get bros point that how it went down is kinda bs. It literally just comes down to plot armor and being a game. My opinion there should have been more thought put into the fight, like V finding a weakness to exploit. Just a straight up fight there's no logical way V would be winning

My V's Cyberware set up makes him an unkillable demon If I'm using a Katana because that's how my build shaped up. My V could (and did) easily demolish Smasher in a 1v1 fight. Player Characters just defy in universe Logic. As another example There's no Reason a Human should be able to beat Ultra Instinct Goku in the Xenoverse games but they can (and do). Player Characters don't have to make sense.
That's not really the primary reason some people are mad with how the smasher fight went. Its that the man is weaker then like 80% of the random cyberpsycho, the man barely uses his sandy, his ice is mid and can be ignored just by popping overclock, he's one of the only bosses that gets WEAKER then more damage he does. Its just sad like forget v the smasher ing game would probably lose to a single max tech squad which is just sad.
I feel like there’s things people have missed with Adam. Like in edge runners it was clear that the sandevestor and the prototype mech suit David gets where all upgrades that Adam was suppose to get b4 the events of 2077. So maybe why he was so easy to defeat for v is because at this point a lot of the tech either rival or out classes his. Also we can’t say he’s fully dead. He’s 99% borg at this point so he has to be a construct of some sort that can transfer his personality from body to body. Like Johnny technically can with v. There’s a lot unexplained yet with old bet, constructs, and such that by the next game or show we might have answers to these questions and I kinda hope some of my theories are right because they would make so much sense and make the world of cyberpunk a haven for endless possibilities not only with your body and chrome but with your soul and netrunning
I mean... V can chrome themselves the fuck out without going cyberpsycho so... Just upgrade them to the point where they match or even surpass Smasher in chrome and boom, you got the victor. And technically, V has a demon controlling them: The Player.
First off, remember that the game had heavy involvement with Mr. Pondsmith, so we can treat it as word of god for all we know. Secondly, said boosted junkie with the psychotic rockerboy in their head ends up being a legend on his own right. The way V works is that the chip has rebuilt him differently, with the chip and its 2nd psyche allowing both V and Johnny to share the brunt of Cyberpsychosis. At this point Smasher is almost fighting 2 folks at the same time, it doesn't subtract from Smasher's capabilities but instead highilights how V was made stronger with the presence of Johnny, who was also a capable solo on his own right.
Just because the game allows you (V) to kill smasher that doesn't mean thats the cannon ending. Regardless smasher being invincible forever is dumb. They should have given the player the option to undergo full body conversions and more extreme cyberware then it would be more believeable
My theory is that the Smasher we fought WAS the copy; an engram burned onto a relic chip and plugged into a cloned brain, courtesy of Biotechnica, that was being tested to see how much like the REAL Smasher it was in terms of combat ability. Either that, or Smasher had REALLY BAD LUCK at being caught mid switch into an new cyberbody (I think the source books confirm he has multiple) before he could properly kit it out and acclimate to it.
Thts head cannon as it stands now V>smasher no debate . And even if we end up having to fight smasher again WE ARE THE PROTAG so it would still end up being V>smasher
@@mookiestewart3776 1.- while youre right, thats basically plot armor, this inst dark souls, but you -as the protag- is sopossed to be able to surpass them, otherwise they wouldnt let you fight them gameplay wise. that said, Smasher fight should be harder than it is, like literrally you and your team vs an over powered smashed you have to learn the way he attacks, hes being literally the only plot supported damage sponge ever thanks to the cyber body, with a phase 2 where he retreats to mikoshi's server room door hall while you have to deal with his team, and finally a third phase where he do the same, but faster.
@@elvladiskov6174 Yea that’s my whole argument. But something I think we forget is that CDPR and Mike Pondsmith agreed that V is the strongest solo/merc/netrunner/etc ever. Therefore the game is a power trip about V wrecking Night City in a world that usually doesn’t care if you’re a legend or not. That should be the whole attraction to V in the first place, there has never been anyone like him. Even counting Blackhand, V is just so badass that he would barely be scathed. CDPR under appreciated Smashers boss fight for sure, but mostly out of gameplay necessity. Imagine wiping the floor with every person you see up until smasher and he just Bodies you through AHQ like V is Becca. It for one would make for one of the worst changes of pace in video game history, and would also drive more basic fans away. I hate that Smasher is a push over, but I think it’s a ‘reasonable’ price to pay for the rest of the game being fantastic. Side note because this can be totally unrelated. Smashers boss fight could have also been effected by the fact that Keanu wanted Silverhand to play a more major role in the story, so they had to scrap most of what they had worked on in order to do that. This is also probably what caused the shitty launch, besides the fact that the Video game world practically forced CDPR to release the game.
The reason why V wins is because he is the main character of a player driven story this is a mainline type story not a side story about some random guy who does a job and gets killed after meeting a legend.
V is both as skilled and smart and blackhand and can cyber up to adam’s level without losing his mind even a little. It’s incredible that you think he’s weak
Dude, I think you are forgetting that in this game you are allowed to get the the point you are so powerful you regularly body MaxTac and that you beat dozens of full blown cyber psychos. Hell the main story makes you kick several corporations in the metaphorical nuts. V is a night city legend as well.
Sometimes I think about how weird it would be if the entire game takes place in V's engram thats already corrupted by Johnny's ego and thats why you basically have no choice in facing off against adam again and winning. Obviously thats not the case but thatd be quite a twist lol
You see I like the idea that david is still alive in an arasaka or militech medical facility and they put adam in his head and he gets an even more powerful suit
Smasher may of always considered Blackhand his “rival” but Blackhand never considered Smasher to be anything to him. Morgan Blackhand ONLY faced him because they were on opposite sides of the 4th Corpo Wars, he with Miletech and Smasher with Aresaka.
Seriously, V is already a night city legend and has won in canonverse. The whole story was even written by Pondsmith. If he really wanted to make Smasher stronger than V, they could have done the Vader route where no matter what you lose but no, V always comes out top. It just depends on your playthrough how but one ending is killing Smasher solo. If David didn’t go cyberpsycho and could add more like smasher, he could have won that as well. V’s special ability is Johnny. While it killed him slowly, it made him the most powerful for the meantime because of how much chrome he could add to his body without going psycho.

Even Pondsmith (themselves) wanted the game last shodown to go another way, But the rule of cool won. And we got the ending we did. Sooo it can be argued, V had the plot armor.. (Pondsmith again confirmed V had a Smasher coach in her head with Jhonny) P.s Smasher was supposed to fall to blackhand and his "saved children" during the time of RED (which was being written during 2077 development.. AND Black hand and his plot armor is LEGENDARY.. Pondsmith not only wrote him, he PLAYED as him at the table..
Tbh, I think “canonically” the fight would be very hard for V, but bc the game isn’t super balanced and it’s easy to get op the fight is kinda easy. Also V is basically solo^2 because its mostly assumed he didn’t just get Johnny as a hologram friend but he also kinda absorbed his skills and abilities. V already was very talented as a solo before and so after fusing with Johnny I think it’s probable that he could beat smasher
I think that’s the surprise. Smasher may even have been defeated by Blackhand off-screen back in 2023 - and returned from the dead because he has a backup. Each time you face Smasher, he’s almost impossible to beat - and he takes down others with him. And if you manage to kill him, there is another backup. He’s like Ultron.
The Johnny Silverhand flash back scene from 2023 in Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t match up with what is in the RPG book Cyberpunk Red. Johnny never made it to the roof. But Morgan did get to the roof. So an idea I have seen floated around is that the Relic engram may contain a portion of Morgan Blackhands psyche as well. So subconsciously V is possibly getting tips from Morgan too.
C2077 is also a source and in every iteration of each ending, V defeats smasher. I dunno, but to me, it's pretty cut and dry what the author was approving here. It's also very in tune with how every dog has their day in night city, even the legends.
Idk if its explicitly said in the game, and spoilers for the main story btw, but I'm pretty sure Adam Smasher is just an engram that can be swapped or copied into a new body. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a reappearance in future canon.
I mean its not super easy tbh, builds in the game make it simple. But if it was a knock down drag out and V was set to win...they would get smashed, but theyd pull it out. Plus. They could EASILY throw in that smasher was a copy made to stay in NC while the proper real-ass Adam Smasher was outside of the country, maybe he left with arasaka after he killed David. There are a lot of threads they could choose to tie into the story if they wanted to. All things considered, taking base V in game rn before DLC, you could say they are literally built differently, unique to borg up like Adam and destroy smasher without the need for Adams build or gear. Just food for thought.
I’ve always thought V represents ambition in night city, how dangerous it is and detrimental also much like the 2 sides of a coin no matter who you are or what you have there’s enough eddie empty power hungry status chasing mercs out there that sooner or later someone’s gonna come knocking and it’ll be the last time you answer. Best you can hope for is the Afterlife makes one hell of a drink
Arasaka for sure copied smasher And I think yes V is literally 2 persons in one body while one person is literally a war veteran . And the fact that V can use every single cyberwear on the market becose he is literally immune to cyberpsychosis (becose of the Silverhand enegram in his body and that it’s overwriting his mind and got repaired when he got shot to the head by Dexter) So yes you can say he is one of the strongest legends in NC
Just remember smasher only killed Johnny thanks to a surprise ambush and when v takes him on you can tell smasher lost his real strength when he completely borges out replaced with the sluggish overconfidence that comes with a metric ton of metal weighing him down if David didn't borg out as well and kept his sanity in check like v did he might have actually won the smasher fight by a hair's breath it's also heavily implied that Morgan blackhand was actually full of himself and only got extremely lucky most of the time on top of that v had top shelf equipment even corpos had a nearly impossible time obtaining access to ai and hacks that literally melt people from the inside with the natural born skill speed and strength to back it up and a construct that makes it impossible for him to go insane no matter what
Cyberpunk started as a table top RPG and has a pretty substantial amount of lore behind. There are a few timeline video's you can check out to get started.
Well yeah they did have a copy of atom smasher ready to go in Mochi. One problem and that is Alt Cunningham absorbed all the engram consciousness data from there and then assimilated all of that data into her thus making Atom Smasher just another voice in the sea of data that is that AI Alt Cunningham. Effectively showing that yeah he's dead unless of course you went down the devil's route ending which would then entail that Atom smasher is still alive or the face in the crowd ending. Guess we'll have to find out in the next game but as far as I'm concerned those are the only two endings that could possibly lead to Atom Smasher is still alive. But usually in game development it's always the idea where the player wins in the end in which case if you're hoping that Atom Smasher is still alive then I would say the devil's ending it's probably the you hope to be true.
If you take V along the path where he/she does every single gig in the city and every single side quest, rubbing shoulders with everyone person of importance at every level of society, and gaining access to pretty much every piece of tech they could want as a solo - then yea they will be on par with Smasher by the end. Thinking that V is just a boosted psycho is just pure bias, it's not even based on anything other than books and if you're comparing the books to the game you gotta take endgame V, not level 7 V or something
Should probably read the sourcebooks again and additional books after. Smasher viewed Blackhand as HIS rival. Blackhand didn't care about smasher. Also Blackhand didnt so much have problems defeating smasher so much as he never wanted to fight him because it would just give adam the satisfaction of a fight he wants more than anything. Blackhand never really had a real rival he was at the top and knew it he didn't want to prove anything, think of Johnny in 2077 is to smasher, as smasher is to blackhand. also Blackhand basically handed smashers ass to him during the destruction of arasaka tower as no one has found blackhands body and smasher was more or less turned to goop. Also smasher has repeatedly had the shit kicked out of him over the years wouldnt be surprised if even after 2077 he comes back somehow even more borged out than before or just simply soulkiller used and shoved into more bodies.
My guy, for the last time. Morgan and smasher are over 70 YEARS OLD. It was only a matter of time that a V would exist that outshines both of them. Dude I’m willing to bet my left nut that I could out shoot Wyatt Earp. Simply put I have way more training and experience then him but am I remotely worthy of eclipsing that legend? No. It’s different generations and wouldn’t be fair
I totally understand the frustration, I really does discredit the lore and background of previous characters. If V is a super god that no one can touch…I guess? Really leaves a sour taste to everything the story has done and will do in the future.
I'm sure Morgan blackhand has his story but with V we create his or her story we see him grow as a character and as a threat the fact that ppl don't want to accept V was a fuckin legend with a good heart in night city and outgrew old legends is crazy to me the proof is in the pudding Vs will power was his greatest asset reminds me of wick
I think the thing you’re not taking in to consideration is the training and upgrading V goes through throughout the entire campaign. After all V goes through and all the people he is able to take out, I think that would actually make V stronger than Atom Smasher was at that point. Maybe in his prime smasher was stronger but by the time V got to him it was just no match. That’s how I like to think about it at least.. 😂
Also there’s a theory that Adam smasher may have been using that brain chip like the one Johnny was saved on and he actually has multiple body’s but he didn’t actually use his best self for the fight
You'd think with all the cyberware Smasher is fitted with you'd think someone would make an Engram if Adam's brain because besides V, no regular person could function as an "OS" for a body THAT augmented. I don't disagree. My only knowledge of the cyberpunk universe comes from 77 and edgerunners but I wouldn't mind seeing smasher coming back later. All the best video game bosses come back eventually
V is night citys new legend able to overcome being the "boosted junky" with johnny silverhand taking the mental load of cyberware and canonically was able to beat smasher. Maybe the fight was a bit anticlimactic but thats just gameplay, story wise v beats smasher and thats mike pondsmith approved lol
I believe so and if they say its cannon its cannon. I believe a lot of stuff happened off screen so to speak. A lot of what V did was learn about smasher and other stuff with the help of Johnny and other people V went out to do to try and get an upper hand on Smasher. I believe V knew smasher would probably be there but smasher probably didn't know about V. Even the debate of smasher might have known that V was hiding behind the glass in the tower. I believe smasher would have met his match eventually. And i believe that Johnny helped during the fight too. Even if you declined Johnny to take control. Your entire time in the game has been getting stronger and stronger and with the will of fighting for your life. I believe by the time V and Smasher match your just as much equal to smasher and just so happen to get the upper hand. And i believe after the fight V was probably bearly alive. With the fight of smasher and the continued fight of Johnys engram taking over you. I dont believe V had much left. I believe either Smasher or Blackhand would have either kill each other or one would have been victorious if not for the nuke going off. Hard to say if backhand would have cone out on top tho as most lore goes ge probably would have. Tho its up to the creators what they make cannon or not. But this is all my ideas, my speculation and i could be completely wrong with everything but to me this is what i believe would be some if the things that would have happened that the game just doesn't tell as too why V was able to defeat Smasher. Tho if backhand is still alive and find out that V was able to take down Smasher, would be interesting to know what blackhand would say about it. I believe Blackhand is still alive. Probably went into hiding after the battle as im sure he was bearly alive. Same with smasher. As you see smasher looks different in the flash back vs when you meet him. So Blackhand probably been recovering and just wanted to lay low, who knows. Again just my thoughts and speculations.
I think the main problem is the style of the video game. Games like these tend to make the player feel powerful that’s often the point the story is a tool to show it. Managing to easily take down a legend shows that you are better than that legend sadly in the process has it’s sacrifices like making other legends look less impressive
Ok but neither Blackhand or Smasher won because they both went flying off the tower when it blew up, also I think Blackhand gave Smasher a hiding and that’s why he went full cyborg as he lived but didn’t want to get beaten again and was possibly hoping for Blackhand to return for a rematch
I feel that what they will do is sweep under the rug the whole V killing Smasher as they fought in Arasaka tower and depending on your choices you fought alone or with 1 or 2 other people and to top it off Smasher is a primo toy for Arasaka so I really doubt they would let him stay dead for very long so if Smasher get resurrected by Arasaka then who would believe the single digit number of people who saw him die
Isnt it stated in the books that Morgan really doesnt care for Adam but Adam wants to fight him so bad. And he only fought smasher to make sure his allies dipped out safely?
You know pondsmith was directly consulted for the creation of Cyberpunk 2077 right? V is supposed to be THE NC legend according to pondsmith. CDPR could have for sure characterized Smasher better and make the fight more challenging but due to the nature of RPG games op MCs are the norm.
Everyone calls Adam weak when you literally have V becoming a literal god by the end of the campaign. If you chose no cyberware or minimal upgrades you'd feel the challenge. I do agree they should upgrade him. I fight him on the hardest difficulty and I'd love to fight him with a sandy
I agree, smasher and Morgan never finished their fight either. So I believe Morgan would of beat smasher. But I also think v can edge out smasher as well. But depending on which end is Canon, phantom Liberty might have us not even fight smasher and be a canon ending
Phantom liberty is set to happen after the end of the game, a few weeks/months after the fact, in a time where V is pretty much out of time. The entire Dlc is centered around the premise that the government (supposedly) has a way to cure V, in exchange of helping save the president.
I have a theory. Old smasher was stronger. Maybe all those cybernetics actually weakend him. Like Vader in star wars. His life was saved but it weakend him severely.
Watch around the 33% mark of this vid (where two of your teammates are posted up at a doorway and taking cover. Rouge should be missing a head after that. This is why the person at the corner should be the ONLY one shooting from that corner.

I've read somewhere on the Wiki that if V does all the side content and gets the Night City Legend ending with the mansion, their bio states they surpassed Morgan Blackhand soooooo.
Yes, I just played the game again for the first time and decided to shoot for the secret mission with the Sun ending. When you complete the final mission and choose the Sun ending, it does show that you surpass MB and are known as the Legend of Night City. It's pretty interesting, but also a little sad since V will not live on with friends and lover. This is more of an isolation ending before V gets into another insane heist planned by Mr. Blue Eyes.

The blue-eyes people are most likely Rogue AI that are controlling human meat puppets (bartmoss literally did this to the people that lived in the compound he was located in). Next if V decides to go with the Nomads they are leaving NC and going east, it says that there are a lot of tech wizards out in the world and the smartest and most technologically advance faction in Cyberpunk is actually a small faction of Nomads called the technomancers. They recieve contracts from all over the world to fix all sorts of problems for nations and corpos alike they are based out of Chicago and are considered untouchable by every faction because of how intelligent they are. Next theres the colonies on the moon and in space. They survived the Data krash and are independent from everything on Earth its why Lucy wanted to flee to there as Arasaka cant go there nor any other corpo or nation(last time they tried to take back the colonies after they revolted they had all their spaceports and magnetic catapults zero'd and their satilites had a gun poited to their heads with a big "play stupid games win stupid prizes" notification next to them.

if you think about it hope is never lost on V but I just thought they would make that like kinda of a movie style , they don’t show the ending and you decide (aside from some of them ofc) but with the ending of Phantom Liberty suddenly you find a way OUT OF THE BLUE THAT IS LITERALLY GIVEN to you (well depends the options they don’t just hand it out but ye)

The thing about V is so far they seem to be the only person actually mentally prepared to fight smasher, Black hand isn't dying, Johnny had his WHOLE life ahead of him if it wasn't for a surprise smasher visit, David and his crew we're young and basically got jumped by smasher with little warning.
V was ready to kill Smasher, not just for Johnny and everyone else Smasher DROPS but because they know Smasher will be there to protect the data fortress once Arasaka learns whats going on, V was ready to fight, prepared to take smasher on because it meant survival for them, V won not because of their insane amounts of augmentations, tho it did help, it was because V was ready to fight to the very end, prepared for it, Adam Smasher was another obstacle who had to be removed if they wanted to live.
Very well put, this is further explored in PL that Songbird and V both face a situation where they’re facing death in every seconds of their remaining lives, resulting in a determination and willingness to fight and burn everything down to live

You'd have to read the lore of Cyberpunk Red and 2020 to get why people are questioning V's strength. Smasher was a Merc who fought in corporate wars and is still alive to tell the tale until V, a normal-ish nomad/corporate/streetkid turns him into a burning pile of trash.

Played cyberpunk after watching edgerunners. When I realized during the chippin in mission that we are going on a field trip to the eubunike to zero Smasher on a two men army and my sorry ass V at level 28 I legit had a panic attack. Man what a let down did he ended up being tho😅

One idea could be that Morgan was so OP that he basically just toyed with Adam and kept him around for entertainment. V had no such conniptions lmao
Or that Morgan didn't even see it as a rivalry and was simply too much of a professional to care about such a pissing contest.
Given that to Blackhand the Missions objective was always the highest priority, closely followed by the survival of his team in second; It's easy to see why Morgan was the number one Solo, he didn't care about such titles or rivalries.
Choosing to instead focus on bettering himself and achieving the objective of his missions, while taking as few casualties as possible.
Smasher focused on beating Blackhand, literally, by any means. But knew that he would never match Blackhands experience and skill, so he made up to the difference with an ever increasing and changing list cyberware.
Amusingly V is mostly similar to Smasher in that regard, they want to be recognised as a legend and will use any & all cyberware they can install to achieve it.
They are more focused on being recognised than actually putting in the professional work needed to actually get there.
They only get there after doing what would be an impossible amount of jobs, gigs and missions in such a short time. Even then, they are doomed to die alone shortly there after, even if they pull off the Crystal Palace Job.
Doomed to die with no blaze of glory, but with the slow painful whimper of complete neutralogical degradation.
It's honestly a pathetic existence V leads, which is especially evident in the Phantom Liberty ending.

Where V, now after spending two years in a coma, is unable to use any cyberware and simply resigns themself to become a faceless NPC in the crowd.
They judge their capabilities on their cyberware alone, completely ignorant to the fact that there are many successful people in Cyberpunk with as little cyberware, or less, than V in this ending.
It's basically V attributing all their success to luck, Jonny and their cyberware.
Which I find to be hilarious when people advocate that V is better than the likes of Blackhand, Smasher, Bartmoss, etc.
It's all luck (Plot Armour) and Cyberware with V. At least Smasher takes his L's with professionalism and works to comeback stronger regardless.
As for David, he was simply dumb enough to think he was special in a world that will use that misconception against him, ultimately leading to the pointless deaths of many he cared about and himself.

Adam is obsessed with Morgan because he sees Morgans mostly human body as an affront to his own fully mechanical body cause he thinks metal>flesh, it started out that way and became personal(to Adam only) cause Morgan never acknowledges Adam as a rival or accepts any duels. They only fight on top of Arasaka tower cause Morgan wants to recover Shaitan
As for V seeing themselves as weak without implants I'm inclined to agree with the luck. V is kind of a punk at the start of the game(after the prologue) and is given a few weeks-a month tops left to live so going by that timeline. All the implants you amass+ the skills and attributes, that I in my head see as boosters, play a huge part in what V is capable of at the end not to mention Johnny's consciousness merging with their own. Johnny isn't the badass we see in the flashbacks that much is evident but he was still chosen to be part of the main strike force on Arasaka by Morgan so that combat experience has to count for something. Further on top of that a lot of the strong solos in cyberpunk aren't in the same situation as V, who at the end the new ending has absolutely no muscle or reflex boosters or any kind of combat related implants they're only capable of basic tech stuff like data transfers. The minimal implant solos and mercs are still boosted enough to crack skulls. That said V isn't a complete chump, they could still train to get some skills back but without reflex or muscle boosters they only really stand a chance against bottom rung scavs who aren't particularly boosted or implanted themselves

Even a Legend can only go on for sooo long. The guys a high funtioning cyber pycho whos probly pushing his 80s and in a CONSTANT state of fight or flight (in his case its always fight) whos probly replaced more parts than the average ripper. When you Factor in his age, dwindling sanity, and his ever growing narcissism you get someone who never backs down to the point of ripping off there own parts just to keep fighting a loseing fight instead of regrouping and reorganizing for a counter attack. When pitted agiast someone (who we are ment to believe) is a top tier mec. by the end of the game teamed up mentaly with someone with years of military/combat experience agianst corps. Its not soooo hard to believe Smashers luck ran out and time caught up with him.

lol Apparently he didn't play the Sun ending where V not only becomes the Legend of Night City, but its documented in game that V surpasses Morgan Blackhand. So......yea, V can in fact be stronger. We also don't really have the full details of exactly what happened between Morgan and Smasher during their fight. For all we know, someone or something interrupted their battle that cause one or both to leave / flee the scene.

You're really downplaying what V is capable of. V isn't just some street punk booster junkie with a rockerboy in their head.
V was a capable street merc even at the start of the game. So much so, they attracted the attention of Dex Deshawn: one of night City's top fixers. On top of their natural skills, V is kitted out with a piece of Arasaka tech that probably costs billions.
The relic changes EVERYTHING here. V is able to sport so much cyberware and overcome his/her physical limitations simply because they are essentially brain dead.
The relic is keeping them alive like a puppet on strings, so simple physical limitations a normal human would experience simply do not apply.
Obviously in cyberpunk you can have all sorts of different builds. But to my mind, canonically V is the ONLY person that can sport as much high tech and demanding cyberware as Smasher and not feel any negative effects. They're literally the one person that can beat him in a head on 1 on 1.

V is the pinnacle of the Solo. Raw talent, Johnny’s memories and experience, and the Relic combine to make V better than everyone else in the Cyberpunk universe.
I know they say Act 1 wasnt cut and it was never intended to be anything, but i believe it existed and it fleshed out characters more than what we actually got, cmon they expect us to believe act 1 was just meant to be a 30 second cinematic ?
Act1 was the whole david life experience, you start just in the level he died, or atleast that my head cannon (the experimental time stoper being the main rason why he went sysho faster).
It also could be that Adam Smasher underestimated V unlike other characters like Morgan Blackhand V didn't exactly have years of reputation preceding him. Plus as of the current game, V can essentially load up on all the cyberware they want without having the chance of going cyber psycho like other people would which gives them a huge advantage over someone like David.
As an old player of the table top, smasher was one of the most terrifying NPC, but the game is years later, and it looks like Adam is old and his gear is old as well. V being younger and also able to cyber up without synopsis snapping, this is why he beats Adam. It's not like it's an easy thing to do.
V is a player character. They're stronger than basically anyone in the verse in most circumstances. It doesn't matter if Adam or anyone else is shown to be near insurmountable foes, eventually they all go down to the Protagonist. 😂

My V's Cyberware set up makes him an unkillable demon If I'm using a Katana because that's how my build shaped up. My V could (and did) easily demolish Smasher in a 1v1 fight. Player Characters just defy in universe Logic.
As another example There's no Reason a Human should be able to beat Ultra Instinct Goku in the Xenoverse games but they can (and do). Player Characters don't have to make sense.

That's not really the primary reason some people are mad with how the smasher fight went. Its that the man is weaker then like 80% of the random cyberpsycho, the man barely uses his sandy, his ice is mid and can be ignored just by popping overclock, he's one of the only bosses that gets WEAKER then more damage he does.
Its just sad like forget v the smasher ing game would probably lose to a single max tech squad which is just sad.
I feel like there’s things people have missed with Adam. Like in edge runners it was clear that the sandevestor and the prototype mech suit David gets where all upgrades that Adam was suppose to get b4 the events of 2077. So maybe why he was so easy to defeat for v is because at this point a lot of the tech either rival or out classes his. Also we can’t say he’s fully dead. He’s 99% borg at this point so he has to be a construct of some sort that can transfer his personality from body to body. Like Johnny technically can with v. There’s a lot unexplained yet with old bet, constructs, and such that by the next game or show we might have answers to these questions and I kinda hope some of my theories are right because they would make so much sense and make the world of cyberpunk a haven for endless possibilities not only with your body and chrome but with your soul and netrunning
I mean... V can chrome themselves the fuck out without going cyberpsycho so... Just upgrade them to the point where they match or even surpass Smasher in chrome and boom, you got the victor. And technically, V has a demon controlling them: The Player.
First off, remember that the game had heavy involvement with Mr. Pondsmith, so we can treat it as word of god for all we know.
Secondly, said boosted junkie with the psychotic rockerboy in their head ends up being a legend on his own right.
The way V works is that the chip has rebuilt him differently, with the chip and its 2nd psyche allowing both V and Johnny to share the brunt of Cyberpsychosis. At this point Smasher is almost fighting 2 folks at the same time, it doesn't subtract from Smasher's capabilities but instead highilights how V was made stronger with the presence of Johnny, who was also a capable solo on his own right.

Just because the game allows you (V) to kill smasher that doesn't mean thats the cannon ending. Regardless smasher being invincible forever is dumb. They should have given the player the option to undergo full body conversions and more extreme cyberware then it would be more believeable

My theory is that the Smasher we fought WAS the copy; an engram burned onto a relic chip and plugged into a cloned brain, courtesy of Biotechnica, that was being tested to see how much like the REAL Smasher it was in terms of combat ability. Either that, or Smasher had REALLY BAD LUCK at being caught mid switch into an new cyberbody (I think the source books confirm he has multiple) before he could properly kit it out and acclimate to it.
Thts head cannon as it stands now V>smasher no debate . And even if we end up having to fight smasher again WE ARE THE PROTAG so it would still end up being V>smasher

that said, Smasher fight should be harder than it is, like literrally you and your team vs an over powered smashed you have to learn the way he attacks, hes being literally the only plot supported damage sponge ever thanks to the cyber body, with a phase 2 where he retreats to mikoshi's server room door hall while you have to deal with his team, and finally a third phase where he do the same, but faster.
@@elvladiskov6174 Yea that’s my whole argument. But something I think we forget is that CDPR and Mike Pondsmith agreed that V is the strongest solo/merc/netrunner/etc ever. Therefore the game is a power trip about V wrecking Night City in a world that usually doesn’t care if you’re a legend or not. That should be the whole attraction to V in the first place, there has never been anyone like him. Even counting Blackhand, V is just so badass that he would barely be scathed. CDPR under appreciated Smashers boss fight for sure, but mostly out of gameplay necessity. Imagine wiping the floor with every person you see up until smasher and he just Bodies you through AHQ like V is Becca. It for one would make for one of the worst changes of pace in video game history, and would also drive more basic fans away. I hate that Smasher is a push over, but I think it’s a ‘reasonable’ price to pay for the rest of the game being fantastic.
Side note because this can be totally unrelated. Smashers boss fight could have also been effected by the fact that Keanu wanted Silverhand to play a more major role in the story, so they had to scrap most of what they had worked on in order to do that. This is also probably what caused the shitty launch, besides the fact that the Video game world practically forced CDPR to release the game.
The reason why V wins is because he is the main character of a player driven story this is a mainline type story not a side story about some random guy who does a job and gets killed after meeting a legend.
This is essentially "well I LIKE THIS CHARACTER so he's BETTER and STRONGER than YOUR character!!!"
V is both as skilled and smart and blackhand and can cyber up to adam’s level without losing his mind even a little. It’s incredible that you think he’s weak

I've got around 62 hours on a minimal cyberwear Nomad V and I gotta say, "I'm just built different".
Sometimes I think about how weird it would be if the entire game takes place in V's engram thats already corrupted by Johnny's ego and thats why you basically have no choice in facing off against adam again and winning.

Smasher may of always considered Blackhand his “rival” but Blackhand never considered Smasher to be anything to him. Morgan Blackhand ONLY faced him because they were on opposite sides of the 4th Corpo Wars, he with Miletech and Smasher with Aresaka.
Adam isnt even Morgans rival. Its the bodyguard of one of the Arasaka girls.

Seriously, V is already a night city legend and has won in canonverse. The whole story was even written by Pondsmith. If he really wanted to make Smasher stronger than V, they could have done the Vader route where no matter what you lose but no, V always comes out top. It just depends on your playthrough how but one ending is killing Smasher solo.
If David didn’t go cyberpsycho and could add more like smasher, he could have won that as well. V’s special ability is Johnny. While it killed him slowly, it made him the most powerful for the meantime because of how much chrome he could add to his body without going psycho.

Tbh, I think “canonically” the fight would be very hard for V, but bc the game isn’t super balanced and it’s easy to get op the fight is kinda easy. Also V is basically solo^2 because its mostly assumed he didn’t just get Johnny as a hologram friend but he also kinda absorbed his skills and abilities. V already was very talented as a solo before and so after fusing with Johnny I think it’s probable that he could beat smasher
I think that’s the surprise. Smasher may even have been defeated by Blackhand off-screen back in 2023 - and returned from the dead because he has a backup. Each time you face Smasher, he’s almost impossible to beat - and he takes down others with him. And if you manage to kill him, there is another backup. He’s like Ultron.

The Johnny Silverhand flash back scene from 2023 in Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t match up with what is in the RPG book Cyberpunk Red. Johnny never made it to the roof. But Morgan did get to the roof.
So an idea I have seen floated around is that the Relic engram may contain a portion of Morgan Blackhands psyche as well.
So subconsciously V is possibly getting tips from Morgan too.
C2077 is also a source and in every iteration of each ending, V defeats smasher.
I dunno, but to me, it's pretty cut and dry what the author was approving here.
It's also very in tune with how every dog has their day in night city, even the legends.

Idk if its explicitly said in the game, and spoilers for the main story btw, but I'm pretty sure Adam Smasher is just an engram that can be swapped or copied into a new body. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a reappearance in future canon.
I mean its not super easy tbh, builds in the game make it simple. But if it was a knock down drag out and V was set to win...they would get smashed, but theyd pull it out.
Plus. They could EASILY throw in that smasher was a copy made to stay in NC while the proper real-ass Adam Smasher was outside of the country, maybe he left with arasaka after he killed David. There are a lot of threads they could choose to tie into the story if they wanted to.
All things considered, taking base V in game rn before DLC, you could say they are literally built differently, unique to borg up like Adam and destroy smasher without the need for Adams build or gear.

I’ve always thought V represents ambition in night city, how dangerous it is and detrimental also much like the 2 sides of a coin no matter who you are or what you have there’s enough eddie empty power hungry status chasing mercs out there that sooner or later someone’s gonna come knocking and it’ll be the last time you answer. And the fact that V can use every single cyberwear on the market becose he is literally immune to cyberpsychosis (becose of the Silverhand enegram in his body and that it’s overwriting his mind and got repaired when he got shot to the head by Dexter) So yes you can say he is one of the strongest legends in NC

Just remember smasher only killed Johnny thanks to a surprise ambush and when v takes him on you can tell smasher lost his real strength when he completely borges out replaced with the sluggish overconfidence that comes with a metric ton of metal weighing him down if David didn't borg out as well and kept his sanity in check like v did he might have actually won the smasher fight by a hair's breath it's also heavily implied that Morgan blackhand was actually full of himself and only got extremely lucky most of the time on top of that v had top shelf equipment even corpos had a nearly impossible time obtaining access to ai and hacks that literally melt people from the inside with the natural born skill speed and strength to back it up and a construct that makes it impossible for him to go insane no matter what

Well yeah they did have a copy of atom smasher ready to go in Mochi. One problem and that is Alt Cunningham absorbed all the engram consciousness data from there and then assimilated all of that data into her thus making Atom Smasher just another voice in the sea of data that is that AI Alt Cunningham. Effectively showing that yeah he's dead unless of course you went down the devil's route ending which would then entail that Atom smasher is still alive or the face in the crowd ending. Guess we'll have to find out in the next game but as far as I'm concerned those are the only two endings that could possibly lead to Atom Smasher is still alive. But usually in game development it's always the idea where the player wins in the end in which case if you're hoping that Atom Smasher is still alive then I would say the devil's ending it's probably the you hope to be true.

If you take V along the path where he/she does every single gig in the city and every single side quest, rubbing shoulders with everyone person of importance at every level of society, and gaining access to pretty much every piece of tech they could want as a solo - then yea they will be on par with Smasher by the end.
Thinking that V is just a boosted psycho is just pure bias, it's not even based on anything other than books and if you're comparing the books to the game you gotta take endgame V, not level 7 V or something
Should probably read the sourcebooks again and additional books after. Smasher viewed Blackhand as HIS rival. Blackhand didn't care about smasher. Also Blackhand didnt so much have problems defeating smasher so much as he never wanted to fight him because it would just give adam the satisfaction of a fight he wants more than anything. Blackhand never really had a real rival he was at the top and knew it he didn't want to prove anything, think of Johnny in 2077 is to smasher, as smasher is to blackhand. also Blackhand basically handed smashers ass to him during the destruction of arasaka tower as no one has found blackhands body and smasher was more or less turned to goop. Also smasher has repeatedly had the shit kicked out of him over the years wouldnt be surprised if even after 2077 he comes back somehow even more borged out than before or just simply soulkiller used and shoved into more bodies.

My guy, for the last time. Morgan and smasher are over 70 YEARS OLD. It was only a matter of time that a V would exist that outshines both of them. Dude I’m willing to bet my left nut that I could out shoot Wyatt Earp. Simply put I have way more training and experience then him but am I remotely worthy of eclipsing that legend? No. It’s different generations and wouldn’t be fair
I totally understand the frustration, I really does discredit the lore and background of previous characters. If V is a super god that no one can touch…I guess? Really leaves a sour taste to everything the story has done and will do in the future.

I think the thing you’re not taking in to consideration is the training and upgrading V goes through throughout the entire campaign. After all V goes through and all the people he is able to take out, I think that would actually make V stronger than Atom Smasher was at that point. Maybe in his prime smasher was stronger but by the time V got to him it was just no match. That’s how I like to think about it at least.. 😂
Also there’s a theory that Adam smasher may have been using that brain chip like the one Johnny was saved on and he actually has multiple body’s but he didn’t actually use his best self for the fight
You'd think with all the cyberware Smasher is fitted with you'd think someone would make an Engram if Adam's brain because besides V, no regular person could function as an "OS" for a body THAT augmented.
(Plus as I understand it, Smasher didnt get that big in one go, he's "died" several times and came back more and more augmented.)

I don't disagree. My only knowledge of the cyberpunk universe comes from 77 and edgerunners but I wouldn't mind seeing smasher coming back later. All the best video game bosses come back eventually
V is night citys new legend able to overcome being the "boosted junky" with johnny silverhand taking the mental load of cyberware and canonically was able to beat smasher. Maybe the fight was a bit anticlimactic but thats just gameplay, story wise v beats smasher and thats mike pondsmith approved lol

V's the strongest, because, we're the player character.
I believe so and if they say its cannon its cannon. I believe a lot of stuff happened off screen so to speak. A lot of what V did was learn about smasher and other stuff with the help of Johnny and other people V went out to do to try and get an upper hand on Smasher. I believe V knew smasher would probably be there but smasher probably didn't know about V. Even the debate of smasher might have known that V was hiding behind the glass in the tower. I believe smasher would have met his match eventually. And i believe that Johnny helped during the fight too. Even if you declined Johnny to take control. Your entire time in the game has been getting stronger and stronger and with the will of fighting for your life. I believe by the time V and Smasher match your just as much equal to smasher and just so happen to get the upper hand. And i believe after the fight V was probably bearly alive. With the fight of smasher and the continued fight of Johnys engram taking over you. I dont believe V had much left. I believe either Smasher or Blackhand would have either kill each other or one would have been victorious if not for the nuke going off. Hard to say if backhand would have cone out on top tho as most lore goes ge probably would have. Tho its up to the creators what they make cannon or not. But this is all my ideas, my speculation and i could be completely wrong with everything but to me this is what i believe would be some if the things that would have happened that the game just doesn't tell as too why V was able to defeat Smasher. Tho if backhand is still alive and find out that V was able to take down Smasher, would be interesting to know what blackhand would say about it. I believe Blackhand is still alive. Probably went into hiding after the battle as im sure he was bearly alive. Same with smasher. As you see smasher looks different in the flash back vs when you meet him. So Blackhand probably been recovering and just wanted to lay low, who knows. Again just my thoughts and speculations.

I think the main problem is the style of the video game. Games like these tend to make the player feel powerful that’s often the point the story is a tool to show it. Managing to easily take down a legend shows that you are better than that legend sadly in the process has it’s sacrifices like making other legends look less impressive
The whole point of the cyberpunk genre is that anyone can get killed at any time. V just got lucky and Adam unlucky

Ok but neither Blackhand or Smasher won because they both went flying off the tower when it blew up, also I think Blackhand gave Smasher a hiding and that’s why he went full cyborg as he lived but didn’t want to get beaten again and was possibly hoping for Blackhand to return for a rematch
I feel that what they will do is sweep under the rug the whole V killing Smasher as they fought in Arasaka tower and depending on your choices you fought alone or with 1 or 2 other people and to top it off Smasher is a primo toy for Arasaka so I really doubt they would let him stay dead for very long so if Smasher get resurrected by Arasaka then who would believe the single digit number of people who saw him die
To be fair if you do it right, V is chromed out the ass at the end. And has a Sandy just as good as Smasher.

You know pondsmith was directly consulted for the creation of Cyberpunk 2077 right? V is supposed to be THE NC legend according to pondsmith. CDPR could have for sure characterized Smasher better and make the fight more challenging but due to the nature of RPG games op MCs are the norm.
Everyone calls Adam weak when you literally have V becoming a literal god by the end of the campaign. If you chose no cyberware or minimal upgrades you'd feel the challenge. I do agree they should upgrade him. I fight him on the hardest difficulty and I'd love to fight him with a sandy
I agree, smasher and Morgan never finished their fight either. So I believe Morgan would of beat smasher. But I also think v can edge out smasher as well. But depending on which end is Canon, phantom Liberty might have us not even fight smasher and be a canon ending
Phantom liberty is set to happen after the end of the game, a few weeks/months after the fact, in a time where V is pretty much out of time. The entire Dlc is centered around the premise that the government (supposedly) has a way to cure V, in exchange of helping save the president.
