    What's crazy is that all 3D games are already in 3D, its just shown to us in a 2D screen. For decades, 3D games could not be fully appreciated until VR. Edit: VR with headtracking, as that fully immerses you in the 3D world. And I know there are certain tricks to fake 3D in early 3D games that probably won't work just having 2 cameras.

      This is probably why CDPR never took the deserved shitting they deserved. There were people so starved from good gaming that they outright created illusions about a game that never existed. They lied about never encountering issues and forced themselves into some Stockholm syndrome.
      This video game should be a study in the absolute self issued mass delusion that gamers put themselves into. It was so weird.

      @@ben_cav you just nailed the reason why Skyrim VR was the only VR game I loved massively more than all others, and why if I played Cyberpunk VR it would easily top it (if my PC could handle it)...because I played with controller.
      It's just infinitely more comfortable to just sit in your chair and not have to worry about practically every problem that VR has...it absolutely ruined motion controls for me, partly because I discovered that just the head tracking and true 3d visuals are 90% of what makes VR so awesome, and at most 10% of what's bothersome about it.
      Loosing some immersion for 90% more comfort...yeah I'll take that trade any day of the week.
      But the main reason, the thing that makes me postively loathe the very existence of motion controls: Because they distract developers/modders from porting games to VR.
      It is so frickin much easier to make VR ports if you don't bother with motion controls and go straight to controller.
      If motion controls didn't exist I guarantee there'd be *many* more VR ports out there which in turn would've also made VR in general more popular.
      VR is THE FUTURE of gaming...motion controls are a gimmick that should PLEASE just fade out and stop holding back the future.

  • @kenpomonkey
    @kenpomonkey 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +71

    Lack of motion controls is a glaring in the Luke Ross mods. He has an A+ quality mod without VR motion controls. If he would partner with someone to implement the motion controls he would be taking a mod that is already next level to a new level. The UEVR mod does such a nice job with this, I can't imagine it would be that heavy of a lift to implement it in the Luke Ross REAL mod.

    • @plsdontbanmeagainyoulibtards
      @plsdontbanmeagainyoulibtards 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean just add 6DOF aiming controls? Personally I feel like there has to be some sort of intractability in order to really complete a VR game like this. For example, picking up items with your hands, opening car doors manually, stuff like that. Being able to aim in VR would be cool, but like he said in this video I think for what it is until you can actually have those "real" VR elements, playing with a controller works just as well.

    • @gr3enmachin369
      @gr3enmachin369 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

      As amazing as that would be, it's just not technically possible with CP2077. It wouldn't work with the Luke Ross mod for the same reason UEVR doesn't work: the game wasn't made in Unreal Engine. It was made with CDPR's own in-house REDengine.
      The reason it can be done for games that were made in UE is because everything about UE and how it works is open to the public. Modders can make motion controls work because they know how to make UE support it. REDengine is private and no one outside the company fully knows how it works.
      Modders only get a small glimpse that CDPR allows them and it's not enough to create what is essentially a completely new way to interact with the game. The only way for it to be possible is if CDPR officially decides to support it.

      Totally agree and also recommend Half Life Alyx as a standout experience for realism, however I will say good level design, story, ambience, etc go a long way to give a complete experience and sense of presence. Resident evil 4 vr on oculus quest is actually really great even though the graphics are old, just because the core mechanics and level design are well done. Are think there's just not a lot of studios that are in a position to develop really excellent vr games.

    • @plsdontbanmeagainyoulibtards
      @plsdontbanmeagainyoulibtards 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I disagree with the AAA part. It doesn't even have the AAA scope of a game like cyberpunk. It just needs that same feel and look. That can be done by indie studios on a much smaller scale. I'm not sure what's holding games like that back though. They use the same engines so that's not it, maybe it's the accessibility? These VR games have to be made for a certain level of hardware or even consoles, so that greatly holds most of them back. Which would be understandable, the majority of your customer base don't have $3k+ PCs. The bulk of your audience are people with entry level PCs, or people who don't even have PCs and use either console or built in VR hardware.
      Until we get to the point where that level of performance is the standard, I feel like VR games are going to continue in the direction they're heading. If my theory is correct though, it would be interesting if studios could make VR games that fully utilize high end hardware, however, are just as playable without VR on your PC. That way they can still profit off a large enough consumer base while filling that niche in VR that no one else is really able to profitably fill.

I did add some mods and nova lut that makes it look amazing with path tracing enabled, now I'm super hyped to experience it "in person". Great video that has rekindled my urge to play Cyberpunk again!

Few corpos (teams) competition or alliance (tasks like "steal", "bounty",) night and supertall skyscrapers with long corridors, vent channels, ladders etc and Q3 arena engine with def Railgun comeback more figures animations (during combat) + immersive audio system / own voice translators/modulation, network connections and street talk (volume) based on distance, each npc equiped with detailed a.i client profile(various answers), voting systems and hierarchy levels (various closed places access up to the control room on top of building level with heli on roof). p.s we should make list of realistic solutions and send it to cd project for example (make things easiest possible, focus on the essence) "virtual door passes" allowing to avoid graphics requirements (200 door apartment building for players, to pass to own apartment [max person/space capacity] u need access card or code + plus standing close to entrance, activation area [action inside "out of main city server", same for whole buildings]

    I think the best VR games are the ones that weren't made for VR. Half Life VR is the best VR game I have ever played, since it feels like a normal game your input is just your body instead of a controller/keyboard and mouse. Games made for VR feel like carnival rides or attractions, some more than others.
    Skyrim, Morrowind, and even Fallout 4 in VR have been also some of my favorites since those are games that weren't originally made for VR. Though Fallout 4 VR really suffers for me because I want to reload the guns myself. There is FRIK, but it's almost to the point to fully draw me in just not there yet.
    I've been loosely following the Cyberpunk VR mods, and I am really hoping to try it out in the future when the mod is further along in the process.

      That's exactly it. If you add VR support as a developer you'll be judged and reviewed accordingly, so you'd have to have full VR support for everything. Motion control, interactions, animations, UI. I've worked on a game that got a lot of requests for VR support and we loved the idea, but we'd want to do it right and really rework the game for a complete and polished VR experience. It's a lot of time, dedication and money to invest up front in what's sadly a pretty insecure market.

    As someone who does a bit of game dev and even a bit of VR game dev, adding motion controls would be both easy and hard, The first part of just adding hands is easy enough, you connect the hands to the controllers. There may be a bit of work detatching the hands from the regular animations and connecting them to your controllers, but it's more time consuming. Then there's the realization that there's a lot more. When you look at what all you need these hands to do, they have to grab, hold, reload, interact, tap, pull triggers, punch, slice, etc. In other words there's a bunch of interactions and some of them have even more complex interactions. It'll take a while, but it'll be worth the wait.

    The biggest mistake of the whole vr community, is thinking that motion control and body tracking are absolutely necessary, as well as first person gaming. Huge mistake that keeps limitation which developpers cannot go through, we need different kind of games, and being in vr, with an xbox controller while the games controls the body caracter and not yourself, can be amazingly immersive.

      I play VR currently on Playstation - and sorry, but maybe its different on pc, but playing a VR game without motion controlls just feels wrong. Its..like something is missing. I played Saints and Sinners for hundreds of hours, No Man Sky or Red Matter, Borderlands 2. Then I tried Doom which is only playable with controller. It felt horrible. Its like sitting in an actual car but you are not allowed to drive it - something is missing. And its not a limitation, its a necessity to create the immersion that VR should bring.

    • @MagicTater
      @MagicTater 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think it's a mistake, it's just people have different definitions as what counts as VR. Something like this; where it's just a normal game but you play it with a VR headset on at least to me isn't actually VR. True VR experiences make you feel like you are a part of the game and that you are IN the game. At least for me; if it's in VR but doesn't have motion controls, it kind of defeats the purpose of VR if you're just going to interact with it the same way you normally would've interacted with it.
      Now that being said; do you need body tracking and a full first person body? Not at all. One of the best VR games out there is Half-Life: Alyx and that's just floating hands but it still feels immersive with the way the rest of the game is built. So while motion controls aren't NEEDED, the VR game should definitely have a REASON for being on controller otherwise you're just playing a flat game with two monitors strapped to your face. And while that can be cool for SOME, it's incredibly bland for others.
