    This video is so timely. Thanks a lot! Your searching made lots of sense and allowed me to see how the colours flow IRL. The colour charts online are somewhat off and make it hard to mKe a decision. I got a few half pans during a trip to Italy and have loved the colours ever since. They rewet well and mix well with each other. I got a tube of Potters Pink (PR233)in another trip 😍😍 It is very granulating and creates great textures when mixed with other colours. I am going to 🇮🇹 again soon, so your swatching came right in time, as I want to buy 8 more colours to fill my palette. I have several Borciani e Bonazzi brushes, including your quill. ❤ They rest so well in the hand, I find them very balanced. Thanks also for the template for the swatches and the commentary.

    Oh wow what a treat, dear Vee! I am actually in Italy now and I already own very few tubes of MMB - Love them!! The downside to traveling is my notifications are not on. But I was pleasantly surprised by this (again) beautifully made video)) Italians are keeping it to themselves in a way - they don't care much about the "universal naming" (let alone Dan Smith). There is a history & logic to that - they have it all, so they don't need to - to put it simply ,)
    Maimeri dry and pick up much better than W&N, as far as I'm concerned. The colours are rich and lovely. So glad you made this video, for my "best of wc playlist" 😉
    Hugs from beautiful Rome!!❤

      Loki~ i hope you’re having a great time in italy! ❤️🥳👍🏻 what a coincidence you compared MMB to W&N. i was just thinking the same thing. w&n is a good solid brand with a solid performance overall but i think with this new revamped MMB range of single pigmented colours, and their formula…. they’ve definitely become a worthy opponent. and a great solid choice of artist grade watercolours. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Thanks for sharing this dot card. It is helpful to see this brand painted out in it’s entirety. I agree with your comments about sap green and hooker’s green. PG17 is an odd choice. While I wouldn’t use their hooker’s green as hooker’s green, I kind of like that dark green. I am mystified as to why they would choose an indigo dye for Payne’s grey, especially since it is not lightfast. I appreciate single pigments, but this one is weird. Thanks for your time Vee😘 Oh, and what are your thoughts on Jackson’s new website design?

    • @PaintinHiding
      @PaintinHiding  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      jacksons has been rolling out their new site for different countries for the past several months now. it looks… sleek? i mean, the change is definitely harder for me to detect sales and new products as i need to adapt to the new change but i think they’ve made the UI directed towards mobile use.

    I love their watercolours, unfortunately 2 of mine had separation issues. I tried to remedy it as best as I can but even leaving it to dry for 3 months, it’s still gummy 😢

    • @PaintinHiding
      @PaintinHiding  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      were those two colours earth colours or colours with heavy metals like cobalt? if so… those are prone to separation in the tube. the pigment becomes separated from the binder (gum arabic) and the gummy-ness that u experience is mainly because when u squirt the paint out, there was more gum arabic than pigment. leaving it to dry wont make it any less gummy because gum arabic does not evaporate over time like water. not saying u did anything wrong but the best solution for this type of problem is to put a toothpick in the tube and stir vigorously to combine before squeezing out paint. and when u squeeze it out, it’s also equallg important to stir some more to make sure pigment and binder and well incorporated. hope this helps :)

    • @ethereal_illusions
      @ethereal_illusions 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PaintinHiding yes they were, I gave them a good shake and stirred it for a bit before squeezing them out, but the results were the same :( Don’t get me wrong, the paint is still absolutely gorgeous. I have a feeling it’s an old stock as i purchased it from Sekaido. It’s potter’s pink and mars brown. Still love using them.
      Edit: Oh! I have been meaning to ask, have you tried your Tintoretto Feltracco Squirrel Brush? I’ve been eyeing it for awhile, and I am considering on getting one myself. I have the synthetic in size 6.

      tintoretto squirrel brush, yes i have used it! i have the squirrel brush in travel brush size 4 though. if ur going for a travel brush, get size 6 or bigger, i like small brushes but even the travel size 4 felt slightly too small for me.
      is your synthetic size 6 like the actual full length brush? because if so, that’s a big brush! and if u want to upgrade to pure squirrel, i fully support because their quality is good and u can never go wrong witj pure squirrel. 👍🏻

    • @ethereal_illusions

      @@PaintinHiding they are beautiful! I only have Winsor and Newton’s Potter Pink to compare it to, but it rewets a lot easier. The Mars brown is lovely. I highly recommend you give them a try!
      As for the brushes. I love travel brushes! I prefer them over the full sized one because I can bring them with me wherever. So given a choice (and if the price isn’t too absurd *cough*silverblackvelvet*cough*), I would always get the travel size.
      Yes, mine is the travel size too, but size 6 is actually too big for me! That’s why I was considering size 4. It holds water well and the thin and sharp tip allows me to achieve a variety of lines, however my paintings are too small so when I want to do quick washes, it’s too big. Since I already have the Sintetico I thought of giving their squirrel one a try. It’s reasonably priced too.

    their whole range is interesting and having only single pigment for the entire collection is a bold move, while a single pigment paint does make a clean mixture some colors like the sap green is a big meh tbh, their naming is also a bit different from others brand so if anyone want to get maimeri do double check especially their cobalt colors, as for the hookers green i believe schmincke have a hematite black made with PG17 but that one is definitely more black then the maimeri one
