I use J-B Weld and cut a section of pop can out and laid it on top there after I coat it with J-B Weld and then coated the top of the pop can piece with J-B Weld. Drove the car for another nine years with zero trouble. Also patch the bottom of the tank the same exact way. Never had any trouble! Thanks Andrew love the video.

    This guy is absolutely amazing. Nothing is ever a problem for him and I respect that.... If I ever had to take that fuel tank apart and put it back together again I would be a nervous wreck with severe anxiety that there would be a fire and that everything would fall apart before I got it back together... that the electrical systems and wiring would fail and then... How do you even remember how to put it back together???
    Maybe the problem is that I think too much but because of it I have to get a new car every 2 to 3 years. Once a mechanic has to do any kind of major repair on my car I don't trust to drive it anymore.

Optimism is believing he will have that vehicle in another 15-20 years without the steel tank rusting through and needing a case of JB Weld. The trailer wiring was installed "top shelf" and keeping the connector in the trunk is excellent advice.

    My metal brake lines rusted out on my 2001 Silverado last year. Very costly to have repaired. Upon getting home I noticed fluid shooting out from behind the front passenger wheel. Took it back up there and it was a rusted transmission line. Had that repaired and sold it. It's great that you have a lift and motivation, skills to DIY.

    • @jamesnm21
      @jamesnm21 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Brexit Monger nah. People are always trading in for newer models just because they want a trouble free vehicle that's nice and clean and new. That ensures that there are always used models available for those who can't afford new or don't want to waste the money and can maintain a vehicle. Electric cars will be lower maintenance and just better all around but i expect the cycle will be similar.

      @@jamesnm21 older car are a lot easier to work on because not everything has its own $1000+ computer that would cost 1000s more just to diagnose plus cost to actually fix it. its to a point were people have to go to school just to learn how to fix stuff. With older cars get buy a Haynes/Chiltons manual and an afternoon later its running again
