Playing Volca Keys with lots of Valhalla Shimmer over a simple string melody I made with the "Adagio Strings Expressive" patch in Omnisphere. I processed that with Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch to make it lusher. Bandcamp: remixsample.bandcamp.com/albu...
The Volca Keys resembles the Minilogue saw tooth wave form in many ways so I really didn't need to buy the Keys but it's the only Volca product that has a "full ribbon keyboard" that also sends midi notes after a minor modification (soldering a midi cable on to the PCB board). Anyways, I hope you enjoy this ambient synth jam session.

This is awesome ! I love it ! I just got one and while I enjoyed the Volca series with the Beats and Bass, I just couldn't get pleasant sounds out of the Keys, too easy to drift into siren like noises. You just proved me wrong. How versatile can be this small cheap device is amazing ! now for me to work on it.

@@RemixSample ahah I missed the shimmer effect in the description, I watched a few other demos with similar effects and wow amazing how it'll smooth out everything yet retaining the original tone. I should try that for sure 😃
I hit a dead end with the keys at first. Then revisited and it’s been singing ever since.

Love it. Thinking of buying into the Volca range but practically every vid has effects units so it's hard to get a handle on how they sound by themselves without extra kit.
It's a very basic sounding synth to be honest. It's a saw wave in different flavors. I prefer the Volca FM to the Keys because it can generate a lot of different sounds including simulating the sounds of the Keys. Effects are still a must to get the most out of these synths though. If you don't wanna mess around with the computer you can use a cheapish fx pedal like the Zoom MS-70CDR

I really love your sound man! I'd be curious to hear a bit more about how you use Paul Extreme Sound Stretch... Heard about it but never really got to using it
Hey! The default setting is set to stretch the audio 8x so that's what I use most of the time. I usually create a couple of bars of some melodies and then stretch it out and see how it sounds. If it sounds good I might import the audio back into my DAW and add more sounds and instruments to it.
You want to take that to the next level connect that with your MIDI to the strymon Mobius and blue sky

Amazing the quality of your music here on this instrument. I have a number of synths but I hadn't thought of getting the Volca Keys. I am tempted. I have the Korg Volca FM2, Volca Drum, MicroKorg, Korg Wavestate, Modwave and Opsix.
Thanks! That's a nice set of gear you got there. I would also consider the Volca Bass if you don't mind a monophonic synth. It's really nice for leads and it has tunable oscillators so you can tune them into chords and fat basses as well. @@Blueguitar007 lol, cause you cant make a good sound ^^ the synth is very powerful, you just need to know how to play it properly
Correct! You can replace the synth by any other and have more or less the same sound. It is like clapping in a room and listening to the resulting sound. It makes hardly any difference who claps. The room will determine the sound (think impulse response).

Well, most of the magic in this video is thanks to the Valhalla Shimmer reverb. The Volca Keys is kinda limited in my opinion but with the right effects it sounds pretty cool!
Hey man awesome video ! I have a litle question , how do you connect the volka to pc and then make it sound in the speakers ? I think you connect the midi to usb cable to the pc and the output jack on a audio interface that its connected to the speakers . Let my know if im wrong . Im already buy one of these and i want to record sound and also send midi information from the daw to the volca . Please help :) Sorry for my bad english im from argentina
You could play a kazoo through that reverb and it would probably sound as good.
