Every day i sail TH-cam seas I always discover a piece of music from you that takes me to places I'd like to stay forever. This is the music that makes me to forget all these awfaul moments. Thank you very much, RemixSample. 😉
This is awesome ! I love it ! I just got one and while I enjoyed the Volca series with the Beats and Bass, I just couldn't get pleasant sounds out of the Keys, too easy to drift into siren like noises. You just proved me wrong. How versatile can be this small cheap device is amazing ! now for me to work on it. Thanks for sharing this 🙂
@@RemixSample ahah I missed the shimmer effect in the description, I watched a few other demos with similar effects and wow amazing how it'll smooth out everything yet retaining the original tone. I should try that for sure 😃
Love it. Thinking of buying into the Volca range but practically every vid has effects units so it's hard to get a handle on how they sound by themselves without extra kit.
It's a very basic sounding synth to be honest. It's a saw wave in different flavors. I prefer the Volca FM to the Keys because it can generate a lot of different sounds including simulating the sounds of the Keys. Effects are still a must to get the most out of these synths though. If you don't wanna mess around with the computer you can use a cheapish fx pedal like the Zoom MS-70CDR
great sounds! it's lovely to listen to. AND I especially want to say this comment section is the most useful and helpful I have ever seen! Thank you for being so free and open about your process!
Amazing the quality of your music here on this instrument. I have a number of synths but I hadn't thought of getting the Volca Keys. I am tempted. I have the Korg Volca FM2, Volca Drum, MicroKorg, Korg Wavestate, Modwave and Opsix.
Thanks! That's a nice set of gear you got there. I would also consider the Volca Bass if you don't mind a monophonic synth. It's really nice for leads and it has tunable oscillators so you can tune them into chords and fat basses as well. I have a couple of videos with it if you are curious: www.youtube.com/@RemixSample/search?query=volca%20bass
Makes me fly. Can you give directions to the pinout and where to solder the cable on the PCB? Thank you in advance. Thumbs UP and one more Subscription!!! GOOD JOB!!!
sounds good, that Valhalla shimmer is powerful. but.... readers of the comments let it be known the digital VST "Valhalla shimmer" run from your DAW is pulling a lot of the weight in regards to the sound, and he also didn't even make the sequence on the keys, so yes, the keys is technically being used here but quite minimally.
@@RemixSample it sounds good and I wasn't trying to detract at all -- you know what you're doing with various tools, and every musician combines gear. The way it is shot kinda makes it feel like its on its own, and my comment was for that potential newbie who didn't read (or understand) the description and immediately bought one thinking it would sound like that hahah. A lot of people who catch the hardware-synth-jam bug fall victim to that notion. I like the sounds and the vibe of the presentation though I will subscribe.
@@RemixSamplelol I watched more of it again and realized more than I thought is being generated by the keys. I think I was looking at a spot where the backing strings were very present. Anyways, the second half was giving me HUGE BladeRunner vibes!!??--- the original1980s version with Harrison ford. If you don't know it, check it out and you'll see what I mean hahaha.
No you can do this without any modification. You're gonna need to add some reverb though. I used Valhalla Shimmer in this video but I also recommend the free Supermassive reverb valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/valhalla-supermassive/
How do you get the layers of different sounds, beautiful btw. I've just bought one on the back of watching this and mine isn't singing like this yet. Let us into your settings.
I go into more depth in the description of the video but basically it's just lots of reverb, the vst plugin I use is called Valhalla Shimmer valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/valhalla-shimmer/
RemixSample I remember reading this now one of the many previous times I listened to it. I think it's time I tried a DAW, I've been trying to keep things simple and stay away from computers but I'm missing out. I have both the most recent elecrtibes, drum/sampler and synth, a Korg microsampler, micro Korg, volca beats, kaos pad and tonight's new buy volca keys so I've no excuse. My mates just bought an ms20 and a monologue, can't wait to get them all together .
An inexpensive alternative to Valhalla Shimmer would be the Zoom CDR-70 effect pedal. If you want to spend more money the Ventris Dual Reverb pedal is an amazing option.
Well, most of the magic in this video is thanks to the Valhalla Shimmer reverb. The Volca Keys is kinda limited in my opinion but with the right effects it sounds pretty cool!
I think you made a good decision buying the Volca FM2. You can get a similar sound with it but you have to find the right patches. I import patches into my Volca FM with a usb to midi cable via a free FM synth called DEXED. IF you haven't played around with it already I would recommend you check out it: asb2m10.github.io/dexed/
what are you using to make the background music ? all those wonderful pads floating around everywhere. Nevermind you're using omnisphere I should have known one of the best ambient instruments out there
Correct! You can replace the synth by any other and have more or less the same sound. It is like clapping in a room and listening to the resulting sound. It makes hardly any difference who claps. The room will determine the sound (think impulse response).
Love this one. With the reverb has a Blade Runners Blues vibe

I agree with you! I needed a lot of effects to make the Keys sound like I wanted too. It's great at what it does tho, saw waves! :D

Ive had the keys 3 days now and wow there are some beautiful sounds in there, combined with the sequencer for some hypnotic sonic hi jinx.
The best option for a hardware pedal is the Strymon Big Sky if you don't wanna use Valhalla Shimmer. Big sky is expensive but the best there is.
