Think of it as explaining a child about something with a background story. Saying that some thing is true history but having Inaccuracies in them will just blur the definition of what history actually is. 12:10 For the comment from that 3rd guy, "he also had a personal life and should not have left her in such condition". I would say even in today's world also there are numerous such cases around that people sacrifice their families for their duties. Like one in merchant navy can't come home for at least 6 months, or in army, or in any defence service and put their lives on risk. Or say the respectable doctors who have put their lives on risk fighting corona virus outbreak they also would have family issues for sure, but you all see still how it goes like, they could have also ran back or left towards their personal interests, but they are standing tall and I am proud of them. They did it on a one level he did it on other level and that's it. Ram being a king was nowhere bound to his duties if we take it in other angle, but he still thought of his people first and considered his concern towards them as an act of duty. He was not like the rulers of the current generation. He was different that's why he didn't thought about his family first and thought all about his people. And that's why we admire him and rest why is superbly explained by sadhguru ji himself. You must understand this.

    What is not mentioned in this discussion is that Sita chose to leave Rama after being questioned by him. The south indian version is more in depth. Sadhguru didn't touch on that subject because the three young intelligent gentlemen didn't understand that Rama loved Sita than most people, if any loved their spouse. However, Rama is the embodiment of ideal rulership, the ideal King who sacrificed everything for his people, even his love. You can find fault in this, but at the same time you can find tremendous virtue and suffering. Jai Shri Rama 🙏🏾

      Sacrificing everything for his people is a different thing but setting a wrong example is totally wrong too. By doing so, it sets an example in the society for women that they must prove their chastity, even if they are not at fault they can be punished and they must sacrifice. It is not equality! A better example would have been to leave the throne altogether but not setting women for such a patriarchal society, but to actually fight it!
      So the guys here are asking very valid questions but they didn't get any answers, they moved on to the next question. Moreover, if you've read about Hinduism, it teaches us to question, to understand, to discover and not to follow anything blindly, and it gives people the freedom to believe or not!

And also you are comparing the sensibilities of those times to ours? Why are you picking only this aspect? There are countless noble aspects of those times that we do not follow in today's world. Our discussions all span from what was written. Had we had a narrative from Rama himself as to why he did what he did do we have the proper right to question his actions. But we dont now do we? That is what Sadhguru is saying. Rama does not gender discriminate. It is out of the question. Had Vishnu been born as a female in physical form, he would have done the same thing. I may add something: Sita herself was a Queen and knew that she too had responsabilities to the people of the Kingdom. Rama knew that Sita knew that it was her responsability as Queen to put the good of the Kingdom first. That was part of what she agreed to when Sita married Rama and became Queen. As the daughter of a King, Sita would have grown up from early childhood learning this. It was not just Rama but Sita as well who agreed to do this for the greater good of the Kingdom. For this purpose, Sita figured out how to prove her innocence to the people. She figured that out herself, not for herself, but for the greater good of the kingdom. Sita too knew her responsabilities. And Sita had made those responsabilities the purpose of her life, all her life, just like Rama did. Sita did this willingly, as a Queen to her people and as a hero, not unwillingly as a victim. She did it for her people as a good Queen.

    I used to think like these guys for sometime, taking the events literally instead of understanding the essence of the story. The main thing is we worship lord Ram as a god and you have hard time accepting that a god can do anything wrong. If we try to view him as a king who faced so many hardships, it makes more sense that he did what he did.
    This video has changed my prespective, thank you.

      @apoorvakapoor3709 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10
