I’m not surprised, because Cruise is such a committed actor he actually fell off that building with a gargoyle dangling from his foot, and his hands barely holding onto the helicopter ladder.

But IS there James Rolfe, though? Or was it Tom Cruise the entire time?
Thepopcornator we may never know!

For JUST a brief moment, I thought that was actually Tom Cruise. Probably the best impression of him I've ever seen.

YES!! That was the absolute BEST impression of Tom Cruise that I have seen ever!!
So very well done. Seriously.

Except he didn't get the Tom Cruise is a Scientologist unfortunately bit.
who was it actually?
I did some research and apparently Tom Cruise refused to have his likeness in the game because he had a distain for violent video games. I guess he had no problem with violence in movies though.
Many old farts to this day believe that video games unlike other entertainment mediums are kiddy stuff so violence in video games gets criticized alot.
He also has no problem with abusing homosexuals, being a Scientologist
I expected nothing less from Tom "always running" Cruise the Scientologist
Just like Stallone being for gun control, or matt damon not wanting to be in the Bourne game because of the violence
That's just the PR excuse they came up with for him back then, a popular one at the time.
The Tom Cruise smiling, laughing, and body language is dead on.
The ending had me dying.
The whole episode was hilarious: fighting the developers, background characters walking through the main characters, Tom Cruise not being able to move boxes, and the headshot backflips! lol
That wheezing laugh can't be accurate, can it? It's infuriating.
All that was missing was his centered front top tooth

@Gryphon Studios
Ah yes, because inviting someone for a silly cameo means that you support every action they've done in their entire life...

Interesting Fact. Weird that James Bond Actors don't have that problem.

Not Tom Cruise did a great impression, I genuinely thought James managed to get the actual Tom Cruise into the show
Dr.Zapps Evan Ferrante was credited against the end
My theory for why Ethan Hunt in this game looks nothing like Tom Cruise is that they bought the rights for the IP but didn't bought the rights for Tom Cruise's likeness. Thats pretty common. Thats why in, for example, The Mask cartoon, Stanley Ipkiss looks nothing like Jim Carrey.
Normally yes, but apparently it was because he had a thing about video game violence.
Tom Cruise never licences out his likeness. That's why there are never any action figures based on his movie characters. Also why he never appears in video games based on his movies. I learned this from The Mummy Demastered videogame. Russell Crowe's character appears in the game, but not Tom Cruise.
A talking cat !!
The Real Ghostbusters characters don't resemble the real actors in the movie very much either.
Zerpie Funko also had to recall the Pop figure based on his character from The Mummy before it officially released for that reason. However, a few still made it to shelves. It’s extremely valuable.
That is the most uncanny Tom Cruise impression I've ever seen. Like, the smile is dead-on.

Metal Gear Solid came out the same year, so I wouldn’t exactly say MI is groundbreaking, even for it’s day.
@@tarantinoish Actually, this game was released almost two months before Metal Gear Solid and was based on a movie that was released two years prior, which itself was based on a TV show that initially aired 30 years earlier. In fact, the levels in this game play out like a stealth mission from the shows and movies, with the agents knocking people out, taking their identities, sabotaging equipment, faking documents, framing other people, and overall tricking the bad guys into doing what they want, so to say that Mission: Impossible isn't groundbreaking is a stretch. It makes me feel like I'm stepping into the shoes of an IMF agent. As Martin Landau, who played Rollin Hand on the TV show, stated in an interview, "Mission was a mind game. @@furiousapplesack Allow me to return the favor, kind sir
@@ThatManWasRightThereISwear haha Some of the songs from that game's soundtrack still pop into my head completely randomly from time to time. It's probably due to how much I played the game, but I don't think I could ever forget them at this point.
This game was frustrating in terms of controls and some missions. I did, however, really enjoy the Embassy Function mission. I felt it was really ahead of its time. I had that mission memorized and down to a science, which felt great for being a kid, haha.
Beating the game and getting the pistol-sized rocket launcher was also pretty cool.
The embassy has some of the best music in the game too imo, the theme for the CIA hq rooftop was the best though
By today's standards it hasn't aged well but this was actually one of the most creative movie tie-in games from the era. They could have just made it into a generic FPS but they did make an effort to make it seem like a "spy" game. As a teenager playing it back in the day I had a lot of fun with it despite the frustrating controls because it was truly unique for the time in a lot of respects...
Do you remember that weird level at the end in which you can talk to the developers but you have a time limit for some reason
Ric Flair Cruise at the end really caught me off guard. Incredible.
wooooooooooooo
WOOOOOOOOOOO!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The "Mission: Impossible" devs fighting Discount Ethan and Not Tom Cruise's guest appearance nearly had me dying from laughter! 😂
12:33 The Big Rigs truck strikes again
Biiiiiiiiiiig Muuuthafaaaackiiiing Riiiiiiiiiiiigs!
Hahahaha let's hope they edit that part and add a little "big rigs" from the big rigs guy.
"Tom" should have jumped on the couch
Guitar Guy's skeleton shoulda flipped him off after he was done.
Missed opportunity. Maybe next time?
or do you mean he should been pick something from the couch and then suddenly jump instead?
What couch? It was all greenscreened all along.
Real Talk: That was filmed elsewhere I bet, due to the pandemic. So no couch jumping I am sad to say.
Dude, this game was sssoooo friggin hard when I was a kid.
I managed to get to the part where you plant the smoke bombs and disguise yourself as a fireman to sneak out on the hardest difficulty. There's a guy standing by the exit who arrests you on sight and I never figured out what to do.
I remember playing through this game as a teenager. Looking back at now, I am surprised that I had the patience to play such a poorly made game. On the Hard setting I got to the computer room at C.I.A. HQ but I could never get past the static yellow alarm laser. I then traded this game for another game.
I made my own fun running around the embassy level shooting and poisoning people. Back in those days I was around 12 so I just immediately looked at cheat codes.
Is it easy now when you're not a kid?
Is it hard now?
