I have notes from probably 8 years ago about making crystalline papers, however, I’ve never gotten around to trying it. I’ll try your way and look forward to seeing what you do with them. Thanks, Kylie.
Interesting technique. Really similar what some TH-cam artists are called rice paper made in a similar fashion with watered down pva glue. I made some with napkins, both the printed side and the plain, but I did not try adding paint to them. Maybe I'll do that next. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your beautiful papers!
This is a new technique I've never seen before. They turned out beautifully. I'm interested in seeing how well they tear and how you use them. Thank you for sharing this with us Kylie!
This is such an interesting project, Kylie. I love all the different colour combinations and I look forward to seeing you using them in the future. Many thanks.
Beautiful crystallne papers! I agree with you about Mod Podge, although I was told that the matt form of it does dry less tacky. I have tried that and it is true, but I still avoid it when at all possible. Great info and fun experimentation, Kylie!
Thank you so much Kylie, I really really enjoyed watching you create these gorgeous and stunning paper’s. I really really love ❤️ them all, and they are really really so useful too. I really really love ❤️ the iridescent, waterfall green. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
This is a very lovely technique. If you haven't already, you should try momigami, similar, but different and creates quite beautiful textured papers as well.
Kylie, perfect timing! Last week I found some gloss medium in my stash and wondered what I would use it for as I tend to prefer matte. Looking forward to playing. Thanks!!
The results are so pretty! It made me wonder if sewing pattern paper would work, it's really strong for how thin it is, though would possibly bring a tan colouring to it, which wouldn't necessarily be a problem, especially if you like to work with aged paper. (A few years ago I was gifted a lot of corset patterns which came with big poofy skirts, I've taken the corset parts I want, and I've been looking for ways to use the (mostly plain skirt pattern) paper since.)
This technique yields gorgeous results. I love the last page you made; those colors are fantastic. I am going to look for some of that green metallic it is brilliant!!! I learned a new technique today. Something I had never heard of for sure! Can’t wait to see how you use them. P.S. thanks for showing the different mediums and gift paper. It helps give people the option to use what they have. That was very thoughtful. Am I surprised- - NO!! TFS. 🦋💞🙏
oh Kylie these are wonderful - your color combos are very pretty - i wonder if i can try this using the white backing of napkins - i have so many of those - not sure if i have any tissue papers - will be giving this a try in the morning - thank you and be well xx
YES, napkins work. But be aware that once they’re wet, they cannot be moved or touched with a brush. Wet them carefully with acrylic medium (for glasslike finish) or acrylic colors (stained glass effects). Napkins turn out almost fully transparent!
Thanks fpr the great video..I.'m having a [problem with this. My tissue is always tacky and sticks together when I crumple it. Could my medium be too thick? it's a pasty type, not liquid. I hope to hear from you. Should I thin it to a liquid with water before applying?
Thought I heard of everything. Crystalline paper is a new one. Thank you for sharing your technique and inspiration.
Lovely to hear your Scottish accent 😊
This third visit was the best!
Interesting tecnique. I can see uses for this. And yes, I saw your cave "book". Fantastic!!!!
I really like this technique! It’s beautiful!! I like the look of the glittery/glossy ink with the other mediums! Very nice!!

Have you ever tried adding colors onto crunched-up wax paper? Similar effect but the wrinkles are a bit more prominent.
Thank you, I'm going to try this.
Thank you I hope you enjoy. I just came across those that I made in this video and I must get round to using them .
oh how interesting. will add this to my list- it keeps getting longer. lol - love from usa
These are beautiful and would be a wonderful addition to any collage. Great technique! Hugs ❤️❤️❤️
very cool

Have you tried putting the medium on one side only? Just wondered. 🤔 Is there a link to how you used these in your own work? Thanks...❤
Awesome technique 😍 i didn’t know it ! I’m gonna try it 😉 i love all the colors you used too 😍 thank you so much for the inspiration dear Kylie ❤️❤️
Can you put on both sides at once or do you have to wait for one side to dry first before putting on gloss medium one the other side? Thank you
I am not familiar with the term of “wet strength tissue paper”. Is this the same as what we call deli paper in the states?
Yes
I’m allergic to modge podge because of the latex base is there an alternative
Very cool and definitely going to keep this technique in mind. Your cave book was really awesome, P and I have talked about it quite a few times! 💖💫
Thank you
How do u glue crystalline paper to a canvas or on paper collage?
I detect a bit of a brogue, Scottish? Love all your tutorials 💙
I do this with decorative napkins.
🙂👍
i don't think Modge Podge is archival
