LOL I suppose this is my fav so far, of the 3 that I've watched back to back.
I also suppose that there will be many exciting new things that will come from adding this technique to the tool box!!

Thank you for being such an inspiration! So grateful..Sondra Borrie
You are very kind. I deeply appreciate your loving support of what I share.
Love all yr inspiring videos.
How long does it take for the pages to properly dry? Many thanks.
Thanks so much for the kind words. It takes about 24 hours, sometimes less.
Great video, great information, thank you! I love how much you experiment 🤓
So nice of you, thank you for watching!
I am confused as when to cover a painted piece with gloss medium versus just painting a background and letting it dry. Would you please clarify? Thanks so much. Very inspiring video!
I use the gloss medium when the paper on the bottom layer is either very porous or fragile. It takes a bit of experimenting to know when it will work better to have gloss medium as a in between layer.
@@catrains.artist Thank you so much! ♥✨
Thanks Catherine, I've become a fan and a subscriber because I like your ideas! Can I been a pain and ask you to tell me in a comment which three colours you were using? I am a beginner and didn't understand what names the colours are, sorry! Blue, Yellow, magenta, but didn't understand the particulars.
I'm truly honored that you choose to follow my channel. I'm happy to share - The three colors are Phthalo Blue Green Shade, Hansa Yellow Light, and Quin Magenta.
Hello Catherine, I just found you on TH-cam last night. I really enjoyed what I saw and plan to "catch up" with your videos whenever I have time. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! I cannot wait for you to watch all of the other videos! I currently am doing Live videos on my TH-cam channel every Tuesday at 2:00 PM EST if you would like to join us for those as well!
@@catrains.artist I will as long as I remember. I think I had better make a note to myself. (getting old really does a number on your memory) lol
@@karenatkinson4053 You can always watch the replays every wednesday afternoon!
@@catrains.artist Thanks for the info.
Will you please tell me if you put any medium into the first base (the solid color) and if you dilute it or it is just out of the tube.
I am using Liquitex basics
Thsnk you.
I don't use medium, except to sometimes coat the bottom layer if the paper is light weight. I dilute the top layers so that you can see the color underneath a tad. I show you how I do this in the video.
Very cool.. some of the patterns look like ice... really pretty! You come up with some very interesting and different techniques. Can't wait to try this. Just to confirm.. you need to let the paper dry completely before removing the cling wrap???
Yes, thoroughly dry. You can always lift early, but you won't get the same crisp results.
It works better with watercolour paint which I have done for years.
Fascinating. Since I don't use watercolors, this is new to me. Thanks for sharing!
I didn't have any luck with watercolors. Watered down acrylic paint from Walmart gives great texture and a shine.
Hey!🙂 Does it get that shiny effekt because of the plastic?🙂
Not totally sure. Could also be because of the type of paint I use - Nova.
@@catrains.artist ok, thank you!!🙂❤
Almost all my papers tore. I also couldn’t get the plastic wrap off them, stuck tight! I’m going to see if a coat of gloss medium will help. I’m using Golden paints and mixed media 98 lb paper.
Are you using heavy weight papers like water color or mixed media? That is what I used in the demo, and no tearing. I used 80 lb drawing paper, as well as 140 lb water color and mixed media papers. When I used 50 lb drawing paper, my tore as well. Experiment with other types of paper in your stash to find one that works without the added coat of gloss medium.
Tuns out the difference was using Saran Wrap. Cheap plastic wrap was just too thin.
Sometimes it’s not just the weight but the quality of the paper. I’ve had trouble with cardstock because it was cheap and layers separated in pulling!
I used cheap brand with no problem.
Is the base layer watered down.
No the base layer is full strength paint, although you could water this down as well. Just fully dry the base layer before you add the watery paint and cling wrap. Only the top layer must be watered down for this to work.
@@catrains.artist Thank you! This is fascinating even though I’ve used cling wrap for watercolor work as I never thought to try this.😊
Have you tried doing this technique on a gel plate?
I have not, however cling wrap would make a fabulous mark maker. I don't think it would work the same way as what I'm showing here, but it would provide gorgeous marks.
I have always (for 2 years) used cheap copy paper and it has Never peeled. Maybe it's your paint. I use cheap paint from Walmart and have had No problems.
i get lots of ideas from your videos, thank you, but I really wish you would stop calling it phthilo blue.
Glad you enjoy my videos. I didn't realize that I was pronouncing this word wrong! Now I need to look it up!!!
Old person here! What were those colors again? Love your projects, but you talk SO FAST!😐
You can follow with the transcript.
I'm using Phthalo Blue- Green Shade, Hansa Yellow Light, and Quin Magenta, all from Nova.
Go to settings (the cog symbol under the video picture), choose playback speed, and click on 0.75 or 0.5. Be aware that until you change it back, it will apply to all the subsequent videos.
@@annecollier8741 Thanks for teaching me something new too!
For some reason, this video won't let me click the Luke button.
Strange! Well thanks for letting me know, I appreciate you!
