the ultimate example of a gentle, warm human being.rather than have a dig about his weight that reporter should have considered himself honoured that ollie even gave him the time to interview him.
rest in peace stan and ollie...no one could ever come close to replacing you.

The reporter was just joking, Oliver smiled. I think the reporter was trying to be funny, but not disrespectful. You can also see how much that reporter liked being with Oliver Hardy. It was a privilege for him to be able to interview such a legend. I think he knew it was. Yeah Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel seemed like such kind men, down to earth good guys in real life. That reporter complimented Hardy about some thing he did, some comedy movie or something. and right after that when the guy put his arm around Oliver's shoulder and complained about how difficult it was, Oliver was like, oh really? and said, "You should have tried my waist." lol Oliver Hardy was great.

Stan was the brains behind the comedy duo with his comedic writing. But Babe Hardy was the heart. ❤ It takes both. Oliver was such a nice genuine person.

I have watched them all my 70 plus years and have never laughed so hard! They were comic geniuses. Just recently TCM were showing a few of their movies - "Way out West," "Pardon Us," "Saps at Sea," "Our Relations," "The Music Box," and had to drag myself off the floor because they were so funny! Their comedic colleague James Finlayson was also a riot too.

Their comedy is timeless. I’ve been watching Laurel and Hardy for over 50 years and I never tire of them. Some comedy, though ground breaking in its day tends not to age well. That is not the case with these 2. As funny today as it was nearly 90 years ago.

Someone below wrote that this was filmed in 1951, and that Ollie died in 1956.
I am from India, and I was born in 1959, and I watched about 20 of Laurel and Hardy movies in the early 1970's.
I am almost 60 years old now, and I live in San Jose, California. And I still watch Stan & Ollie and Love every bit of their acting.
I think, some people should live forever. Stan & Ollie should have.

I'm SO GLAD that Stan and Ollie were friends through and through!
I've never had trouble laughing at their classic antics, but somehow it makes them that much funnier knowing that regardless of the angry looks or smacks that they were true buddies. One could smack or shove a pie in the face of the other, but they'd come to the aid of the other if anyone else tried it! It was like the world against Stan and Ollie and they always won.
And of course those of us who love them always won too!

Following the making of their final movie “Atoll K”, the boys were surprised by Ralph Edwards at a meeting that was set up to get them together under the premise of a possible upcoming project. They then found themselves on live TV on “This is Your Life”. This occurred in 1954, three years before Babe’s death.

There's a home video that showed him where he had lost a ton of weight and I believe that's the last known footage of him. Thankfully he still looked happy then. I think Stan had had a stroke as he seemed to have lost the use of his left arm in the footage. Such a shame but they were pals right until the end. Never again will we see a comedy act like theirs again sadly.
