@FunBoy77 the army has the best benefits and they let you pick your job and I never heard anyone as a kid say I want to be a sailor, airman, maybe a marine, but I heard people mostly say army.
@@ApolloPerez-gt9ftYou mostly heard kids say they wanted to be an astronaut, a firefighter, a police officer. But did they live up to that? Probably not.
I'm 26 and really I'm interested in either the Air Force or Army because at this point my life isn't progressing where I need to be and I'm starting to feel I'm going to be stuck doing warehouse jobs and wasting my life away. I'm a senior at a hbcu and I've completed one internship as a project coordinator and have another one lined up for information security but even then I still question is this what I'm supposed to be doing. Mainly because I lack structure and have no real direction really.
Okay you're a little bit "older" being 26. You're not in your later twenties or thirties, but you're still a little bit older than kids who joined straight out of high school. Im in the Army. I would advise you to consider the Air Force because of the fact that the Air Force treats its enlisted people more like adults than the Army treats its enlisted people (we are SOLDIERS, so when you THINK about it, yeah the Army micromanages us more and treats us more like children because of the tradition that goes back to wars when soldiers would desert from war and/or commit suicide. Plus a lower enlisted soldier is basically just a body for numbers for the higher ups. The Air Force treats its people more like grown ups because book smarts and technical skills are more valued). Consider the Air force first instead of just jumping into the army. Try to have some patience with the recruiter. On one hand, the air force is still the military, and still would have some dumb shit But on the other hand, some dumb shit can't hold a candle to the absolutely stupid shit you're going to see way more often in forscom army. Tl/Dr...consider the Air force since you are older. Take it from a soldier in the army.
Fun fact about the Coast Guard is smaller than the NYPD. I heard the Air Force/Space Force you get treat treated better, in the Navy you can travel a lot, the Army is more of an icon and the most popular branch of the military, and the Marines are the most prestigious branch in the military, and the Coast Guard is more focused on law enforcement. I’m trying to decide what branch of the military I should join because I think all of them are cool
I had a good quality of life in the Air Force. Basic training was 6 weeks, only had room mates as en E1, and food was decent(think medicre cafteria food). You usually get better food when they send you overseas to a temporary assigmnt like Saudi Arabia. They move you from base to base on average every three years and the housing is actually pretty good if you have a family.
@@joaquinm7502hey i’m thinking about joining airforce, my biggest thing is i want to stay off base or on base in my own house but i am single & i want to have my dog with me eventually, i can sign 6 years to be a E-3 after boot camp but how soon could i get out of barracks & have my dog stay with me in my own house?
@@JonahTaylor-m5t So when you join you go through boot camp and tech school which together will probably take six - nine months and when you get to your base then it would take another year or two to move off base. I slept on a cot or on the ground under a a blanket of stars multiple times during my enlisted time in the Corps. If I had to do it again, I’d go officer, and probably in the army. I would’ve loved to be an 18X.
I was USAF during the Vietnam War. One thing you overlooked was the constant suffering of an enlisted troop. I even got paper cuts in basic. Oh. The pain. While serving in Vietnam, I must have gotten a paper cut once a month. Much worse than a bullet in the knee. Vehicle? One of those Australian junk buggies.
My dgt has set up appts with Army and Air force recruiters. As someone who does not have a military background, I am learning so much and thank you for your videos.
Speaking for the Army, those 10 weeks are just basic training. All soldiers that complete basic move on to AIT. Months of additional training into your specialty. Some soldiers spend two years in training before being assigned a unit. I think this is true for the other branches but can't speak for them. When deployed, our officers stay close to their soldiers. Their conditions may be slightly better but its the same mud. We are the hammer. We consider Marines the sword, an expeditionary force. When we occupy ground, we own it, fortify it and improve it until we leave. razor wire becomes walls, walls become electronic surveillance, foxholes become bunkers, bunkers become buildings ...well you get it. In Iraq, we moved onto a Marine base they had had for two years. It still had many tents on it. We changed that.
Hey Jody. Love your content!! I wanted to ask out of curiousity. How common or rare is it to find theses 3 jobs available in the airforce? 1. Diet therapy 2. Public health 3. Mental Health Services
@@Jodywithawhy thank you so much for the quick reply. Im currently studying for the ASVAB and those 3 are my first 3 jobs. So like you said. Id be lucky if i find one. Pick a Service. Pick a Challenge. Set yourself apart. Army Navy Air Force Marines. What a great place. What a great place to start. The TV jingle when I joined The Army in 1980. They sang it in the movie Stripes.
I’m a senior in high school just turned 17 have done research and talked with all the branches. I would say I’m decently smart with my projected asvab score at around 91-92 but I’m struggling with what my job I should do in order to use my smarts over my physicality. Any suggestions and I understand it’s a broad kind of question.
I always wanted to join the Air Force but they I always ghosted me and that’s from 2 different states. When I finally did get in touch with a AF recruiter, they told me I couldn’t become an OFFICER because they are looking for people with specific degrees. So I decided to go ARMY. With the goals I am trying to accomplish, I think ARMY would be the best fit for me.
This video is quiet informative. I love the way you explained everything well. I have a few questions. I really want to join the US Air force, I am not in the US neither am I a US citizen. Please how do I go about joining the US Air force?
Question, I am sworn into the national guard and have picked my job which I signed for on my contract, emergency management. I had my first drill weekend last month while I wait to get dates for basic and tech. After seeing what my job actually does on drill weekends it looks extremely boring and mundane. Is there a way to change jobs? I have not gotten dates for basic or tech yet
I am 43 wish i could join the army still fit enough to go through that training no where near my limit just yet.. just life happend now i have time to do that but not young enough willing soul look like doesn't matter
After trying for a year and half, going to Meps three times I finally got rejected from the military because I have scalp psoriasis (that’s no longer visible). So if you have psoriasis DO NOT give medical records. The Air Force will screw you heavily this way, even if you try and join another branch. Once Meps has your records you’re done. If I would of went to the Army first I probably would of been in. I had a job and everything set up (68C) too. SMH 🤦♀️
I was so torn on what to call the navy. I thought about Toyota Camry or Honda Accord because they’re reliable, durable cars which will get a lot of miles. I just went with Astrovan last second. They were the toughest ones to pick a car for.
I’ve had my eyes on the Air Force for a long time now but a navy recruiter just called me yesterday after seeing my picat scores (I got a 74). He gave me a hard sell saying he could guarantee my top job picks and of course said everything to make his branch sound better than the Air Force. But my gut told me he was lying by omission the entire time when I sat down with him. I was there for almost 3 hours and he put me on the phone with one of his recruits that booked cyber warfare (she dropped out of tech school and does choir now) trying to convince me that their quality of life is the same as the Air Force basically trying to close me on the sale.
As a American it's my God given right to spread freedom everywhere I go. And I would like to see action. witch branch should I join If I want see the most action?
I apprrciate this playlist. I was going to go into the Air Force. Trying to get myself physically ready for BT. Talking my recruiter and starting my process again in March. Any personal recomendations
Have a strong “why”. Something that will keep you motivated on the days when don’t feel like working out. That way every time you feel like quitting, that “why” will keep you going. I hope that helps. Good luck man. 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Marines are tasked with taking specific cities, the Army is tasked with taking the entire area or country. Common misconception. The Marines have take those cities and the army goes in after, the marines go back and take another city while the Army is moving along other places and taking airfields, POI's, and strategic positions from the enemy.
Yeah it is what it is now. I didn't get anything out the army that was unique to the army but I did appreciate a guaranteed paycheck and healthcare. I also used tuition assistance to get further into my bachelor's degree, but aside from that, I did meet some cool people (and the biggest assholes I've ever met in my life) the army wasn't it

I wanted to join the Air Force but I saw my job list and man.. I kind of don’t like it whatsoever because I don’t see myself in a position for any of the jobs I selected especially when I get out.. MAGE scores are somewhat low? Plus I needed a moral and medical waiver so my job listing is pretty limited. I’m in DEP right now but I’m considering dropping it for Army. Been stressing me out lately ngl 🤦🏾♂️
@ Yeah and I found out something else that they put down in my file that I never said (unsure if it was the psychiatrist or MEPs) but my job list for the Army is far better.
I've been looking into the air guard for a few years now, I'm 21 as a junior in college. I haven't yet found an answer as to if air guard deployment is basically doing the assigned afsc in another area (when it's not disaster relief). If anyone can answer this or offer any other advice/encouragement, it would be greatly appreciated.
Yes. The air guard does deploy, and that could be anywhere for 4-12 months. When deployed, you’d most likely do whatever job you trained for at the deployed location.
Mostly. There are occasions when you can deploy and do absolutely nothing you went to school for. These type of deployments are usually volunteer bases, and they’ll outline the details of the deployment before you take it.
This is kind of a weird question but i really want to join the army but my family is telling me that it’s impossible for me to join because unfortunately my parents passed by suicide and that alone will disqualify me. I’ve tried googling it and looking all over the internet to find a. Answer but I can’t find it. Is there any truth to that? Thanks if answered.
That’s not true. It will depend on your medical records and psychology records. You would have to gather all of those, and give them to recruiter, who will send them off to a doctor for them to determine if your physically and mentally fit for service. I hope that helps.
@JodywithaWhy How about a video talking about Special warfare. Requirements, pipeline, time, jobs, specwar dependent. You don't have anything about specwar on your channel🤔
As far as I’m aware of, unless you wanted to do special warfare or some hard to fill job for the AF, is pretty much impossible to go Air Force as prior service

I slept on a cot or on the ground under a a blanket of stars multiple times during my enlisted time in the Corps. If I had to do it again, I’d go officer, and probably in the army. I would’ve loved to be an 18X.
Man I can't wait to join the US Air force after my apprenticeship can't wait to process my Green Card hopefully I'd pass.
Hey brother I’m on the same boat as you. My green card just got approved and I’m preparing myself for asvab too, I’ll go for Air Force
Big shoutout to the Coast Guard, Semper Paratus!
I'm shipping out next month 😊
I was USAF during the Vietnam War. One thing you overlooked was the constant suffering of an enlisted troop. I even got paper cuts in basic. Oh. The pain. While serving in Vietnam, I must have gotten a paper cut once a month. Much worse than a bullet in the knee. Vehicle? One of those Australian junk buggies.
My dgt has set up appts with Army and Air force recruiters. As someone who does not have a military background, I am learning so much and thank you for your videos.
I’m glad I could help. Hope everything works out for you two. 🙌🏽
I was talking to some Navy guys at MEPS and they told me the basic training is changed to 10weeks now 😢
Oh shoot. I missed the update. 😩😩😩
Yup. I feel sorry for whoever has to deal with them red ropes for 10 weeks. They bumped it up after I left boot camp.
@@Jodywithawhy Army has OSUT for Infantry Cav and Armor its 22 weeks.
Yep it used to be 8.
Hey Jody. Love your content!! I wanted to ask out of curiousity.
How common or rare is it to find theses 3 jobs available in the airforce?
1. Diet therapy
2. Public health
3. Mental Health Services
Extremely rare. EXTREMELY. I had to stress that, that way if you join you know you’d be very lucky if you happened to get one of those jobs.
@@Jodywithawhy thank you so much for the quick reply. Im currently studying for the ASVAB and those 3 are my first 3 jobs. So like you said. Id be lucky if i find one.
But worst case scenerio, if i dont find those jobs. I'll just apply to any other job that my scores shows i'll be good at.
Thank you!!
I have a video which may help you do your job research. th-cam.com/video/KTnso5e3NII/w-d-xo.html
I hate you for making this Jody, but you got my attention. Keep making great videos.
Lol. No problem. Thanks for watching. 🤙🏽
I served both in the army and the coast guard. Join the Air Force.
I was interested in marines now I want air force !
Good luck on the channel
This video is quiet informative. I love the way you explained everything well. I have a few questions. I really want to join the US Air force, I am not in the US neither am I a US citizen. Please how do I go about joining the US Air force?
This video can help. th-cam.com/video/Rar4xlJH0JI/w-d-xo.html
Another video YaY love your content❗️♥️
Thank you so much. I’m on leave so I’m trying to crank as much as I can. 😬
Why did I join the Air Force? Because I scored high enough to have the option.
SMH 🤦♀️
I was thinking about the navy but I’m 6’4 I got a lil bit of claustrophobia so idk 😂
Let’s get it dropping heat lately.🔥
Been on leave for the last 2 weeks. I’m trying to do as much as I can before I go back in. 🤙🏽
My mom and dad never got sober. My Grandparents raised me. If i had a wish it's everyone who's struggling get help ❤❤❤
Only thing I’d change is navy their more like a transport bus with guns on it
I was so torn on what to call the navy. I thought about Toyota Camry or Honda Accord because they’re reliable, durable cars which will get a lot of miles. I just went with Astrovan last second. They were the toughest ones to pick a car for.
Having passion for flying and travelling and working in airport as an aviator my choice would be the Airforce
Amazing video very informative
Navy and Marines!! Hoorah Seabees 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Greta video.
@@Jodywithawhy Guess I need to find that why. Any workouts you would recommend to prepare? Im decently fit but can never be too prepared.
Running and sprinting exercises will be perfect. Just TH-cam some different sprinting exercises and you should be straight.
"I was going to join the Air Force. But then I found my balls."
--Some meme guy
Go army its too many of us to watch. You can basically do what u want
😂😂😂😂. Yooo
Completely not true
@@golfery5119 the fact your a troll is true! FOH speak to your own experience wash out
*_AIR FORCE!_*
Marines are tasked with taking specific cities, the Army is tasked with taking the entire area or country. Common misconception. The Marines have take those cities and the army goes in after, the marines go back and take another city while the Army is moving along other places and taking airfields, POI's, and strategic positions from the enemy.
I have a feeling someday the space is going to be like Halo
Too late for me to join the Air Force but I'm happy with what the Army has done for me.
Yeah it is what it is now. I didn't get anything out the army that was unique to the army but I did appreciate a guaranteed paycheck and healthcare. I also used tuition assistance to get further into my bachelor's degree, but aside from that, I did meet some cool people (and the biggest assholes I've ever met in my life) the army wasn't it
That subtle rah 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I ripped that from Nikko Ortiz’s channel. Lol
@@Jodywithawhy thought I heard that specific rah from somewhere 😅🤣🤣🤣 thank you Sir, your contents helped me get ready to join the AF and now I'm already scheduled to shipped on Nov. 8... keep up the amazing contents Sir!!!
Navy actually seems more like an RV that tow the jeep wrangler and house the marines.
That is pretty good. I missed an opportunity here. Lol
Toss up with the Air Force in the Navy I really want to travel
I seen a video where the Air Force said they the toughest basic training or BMT
That’s wild. Lol
No you didn't, no AF person thinks that
I’m between coast guard and marines 😭😭😭
Can you do more videos about being married or having a fiance while in the military as a beginner
“And until next time, check me ouuut” 😊
Always. 🤙🏽
Air Force Social Work Officer, Navy Social Work Officer, Army Social Work Officer, or USPHS Officer?
4:26 "compare the army to the dodge charger". You wouldnt believe how many young dumb soldiers get dodge chargers. Thets a pretty common car youll see on army posts.
Some of these fleet marine units became betraying in nature by way of command which is sad to see
I wanted to join the Air Force but I saw my job list and man..
Air Force tends to give you a dream sheet and they pick your job. Army and Navy are the only ones that guarantee your job from what I hear.
@ Yeah and I found out something else that they put down in my file that I never said (unsure if it was the psychiatrist or MEPs) but my job list for the Army is far better.
Did the air force lift their neck tattoo restrictions for March 2023
I've been looking into the air guard for a few years now, I'm 21 as a junior in college. I haven't yet found an answer as to if air guard deployment is basically doing the assigned afsc in another area (when it's not disaster relief). If anyone can answer this or offer any other advice/encouragement, it would be greatly appreciated.
Yes. The air guard does deploy, and that could be anywhere for 4-12 months. When deployed, you’d most likely do whatever job you trained for at the deployed location.
@@Jodywithawhy okay, that helps clarify a few things... So deployment will mostly be the the job trained for during tech school?
Mostly. There are occasions when you can deploy and do absolutely nothing you went to school for. These type of deployments are usually volunteer bases, and they’ll outline the details of the deployment before you take it.
@@Jodywithawhy awesome, has this ever happened to you? What would be an example of this?
Pick a job in communications. You’ll only ever do just that in a deployed environment.
If you want to reprocess after being discharged from dep for sickness do you need waiver from commander
You might. It really depends on how everything unfolded. I would recommend speaking with the recruiter to see what the process will look like.
Hey man wanna say thanks for all good info I am working on getting my ged so I can get into the air force any tips for me I am 21
I love how the only difference between marine and army chow is an extra sprinkling of crayons. Marines all the way
Marines if you want a lifelong satifaction
How hard would it be to transfer from army to Air Force/Space Force. Currently a Signal soldier👀
As far as I’m aware of, unless you wanted to do special warfare or some hard to fill job for the AF, is pretty much impossible to go Air Force as prior service
first time on this channel. are you in USAF?
How hard is it to get shaving profile?
