Hey Stu! That’s so awesome. I’m stoked for you. My biggest piece of advice to avoid getting hurt is to take it slow as you’re getting back on board. When I got back into it in the early 2000’s, I went to the skatepark and dove right in, as if I had never stopped… quickly realizing that I shouldn’t have been so aggressive because I crashed in the bowl, hit my head, and saw stars. Lessons learned, wear a helmet at the skatepark, and warm up with the basics for a while before trying serious tricks or ramps/bowls 🤣

I actually found out about him though a ted talk and watched tons of his old freestyle runs (lots of 80s freestyle runs) and actually found out he had autism (I have autism as well)& tbh i blown my mind how he’s able to do all this crazy technical stuff(besides flip tricks) little to no errors do he inspired me to start doing freestyle skateboarding.

It’s really cool that he inspired you to start freestyle skating too 👍 I see you’re into VR, my daughter is HUGE into VR. She took me into a cool 80s inspired arcade in VR chat world a while back. I have a black light Mac Gill not from series 14, and like you, as was surprised but also very disappointed when I saw that the skull ( which is white ) didn't pop out as you would expect from anything white under a black light. I do not understand why the hawk skull and the mullen skeleton, which are white, don't pop out..

I wonder if the whites don’t pop under black light because they maybe didn’t intend for them to be displayed under a real black light, and instead just focused on them appearing as if they were under a black light when viewed under normal conditions… who knows, but it’s a missed opportunity either way 🤣
@TheNostalgicNeighborhood what is strange is that the white looks really white so wondering how they make it possible to avoid the glow since the slightest white thing in the world ( even teeth which are not completely white) will shine under black light. Maybe they are saving it for another series...Series 80 real black light effect 😂. Thank you again for your, video it really helped and love the intro you made
Not only do these look better than last year, but getting them was way less brain damage. I was glad to see that the Caballero has the Dragon on Bearing graphic, hopefully they'll do the Mechanical Dragon sometime. Now, if they'd just re-issue the McGill Serpent... I only get the Mullen decks because Rodney was a magician and the graphic is rad. Otherwise, freestyle decks are basically popsicles, which I don't collect.
I think we're totally on the same page here. I wasn't only able to get a Mullen last year and none of the others, and I felt SUPER lucky to get just the Mullen. This year it was easier, and I could have gotten more than just these two, but I'm not a big collector so my budget didn't' allow for it. Yeah, the mechanical dragon would be super cool! It’s really hard to say. On the one hand, the series 14 color way is super cool, but on the other hand these aren’t OG color reproductions of the popular colors from the 80s and they are the made in Mexico instead of the USA. I assume relative to the previous 13 runs, they will be fairly collectible, but nowhere near as valuable os the earlier runs. But they’ll certainly go up in value.
To be honest, I’m not 100% sure. I believe most Powell Peralta decks are made in their factory in Santa Barbara, CA. But some are made in Mexico too. I don’t know if these reissues came from one location or the other, but I’d guess they are American made.
Those decks are sick! Rodney is the coolest down to earth humble dude. He's the king,cant be touched and his artform,enough said.
