Just letting you know this is very much working, I got loads of comments not knowing whether they were compliments or abuse. Turns out they were just a TH-cam!
there is actually a browser extension/add-on called "return youtube dislike" that does exactly as it says! i have it and. youtube moment for me as well.

i feel like this is going to devolve very quickly into "youtube" becoming a word that is used in almost every possible context and simultaneously meaning basically anything and literally nothing as a result, which may be exceeding the original goal by just a li'l' bit. This is truly a youtube moment. edit: another thought i just had is that, if this campaign is successful enough and "youtube" becomes a common generic word in regular language, youtube could very well lose the trademark on their own name.

One of the best things about this is that if enough people start using the word "youtube" to mean something not related to the company/site, TH-cam could be at risk of losing the trademark to its own name. It's all based around trademarked terms being "genericized", which means that people use the word in contexts that are not specific to the company. A similar thing almost happened to google a few years back since everyone uses the term "google" to just mean an internet search. this is actually an incredible idea. By making youtube so incredibly confusing with layers upon layers of specific culture and slang, it becomes unfriendly to new users, forcing youtube to do something. I've never been blessed with a more youtube idea

If TH-cam wants to restrict swear words because it reduces the revenue they make from advertisers, that’s understandable and they’re fully within their right to do so. The problem is that not only do swear words not impact an advertisers likelihood to have their ads placed on a video (as proven by the massive number of monetised videos that contain swear words), but also that TH-cam continues to monetise videos with swear words in them and just doesn’t pay the creator. It’s just blatant dishonesty.

Im quite partial to the term 'crusty juggler'. Me and my friends use it to describe either a store that stocks particularly cheap or low quality items or someone who isn't particularly hygienic. First coined in one the amazing films of the Cornetto trilogy but I forget which (so breifly that if you blink you'd miss it). It's such youtubery to tell your friends your off to the crusty juggler to save a few bob.
As an aspiring English major, I adore this whole concept. It really is a youtube, and I'm not even just saying that for the gimmick! I'm excited to start using youtube to describe a lot of situations in my life, because a lot of my friends are absolute youtubes.

I got in trouble at my first job for swearing and they suggested I use more wholesome words. I decided all swears were now the word "onion". It lasted all of 3 days, with my employer begging me to go back to regular swears. I even joked "Nah. You onions were right. This is way onioning better. Onion A." Apparently you can charge any word with passionate hatred. I learned a magic spell.
I had a Spanish teacher in high school who wouldn’t let us make up curse words. She called them marshmallow words. So you couldn’t say damn. Couldn’t say dang. Couldn’t say potato chips. Couldn’t say fiddlesticks. If you said anything in place of a curse word, you would get in trouble. That was just unnecessary and is honestly the way youtube is going at this point.
I literally do this myself, only not as a swear, but just replace words with it. So weird that that's the same exact word I use. Maybe it has weird linguistic power we don't understand.

If TH-cam wants to restrict swear words because it reduces the revenue they make from advertisers, that’s understandable and they’re fully within their right to do so.
The problem is that not only do swear words not impact an advertisers likelihood to have their ads placed on a video (as proven by the massive number of monetised videos that contain swear words), but also that TH-cam continues to monetise videos with swear words in them and just doesn’t pay the creator. It’s just blatant dishonesty.
This is such a youtube move. TH-cam could have avoided this by not being such a youtube.

Im quite partial to the term 'crusty juggler'. Me and my friends use it to describe either a store that stocks particularly cheap or low quality items or someone who isn't particularly hygienic. First coined in one the amazing films of the Cornetto trilogy but I forget which (so breifly that if you blink you'd miss it).
It's such youtubery to tell your friends your off to the crusty juggler to save a few bob.
As an aspiring English major, I adore this whole concept. It really is a youtube, and I'm not even just saying that for the gimmick! I'm excited to start using youtube to describe a lot of situations in my life, because a lot of my friends are absolute youtubes.

I got in trouble at my first job for swearing and they suggested I use more wholesome words.
I decided all swears were now the word "onion".
It lasted all of 3 days, with my employer begging me to go back to regular swears. I even joked "Nah. You onions were right. This is way onioning better. Onion A."
Apparently you can charge any word with passionate hatred. I learned a magic spell.

I had a Spanish teacher in high school who wouldn’t let us make up curse words. She called them marshmallow words. So you couldn’t say damn. Couldn’t say dang. Couldn’t say potato chips. Couldn’t say fiddlesticks. If you said anything in place of a curse word, you would get in trouble. That was just unnecessary and is honestly the way youtube is going at this point.

You know, as glad as I am that you decided to bite the bullet and do TH-cam full time; you would've been a phenomenal English teacher. I almost feel bad for the Japanese kids who missed out on having such a rad teacher. (Seriously though, kids respond to fun and passion, they *know* when a teacher is going through the motions. The teachers I remember were always the ones that tried to make the subject interesting and relevant to us.)
