    I meant Loretta Lynn when I was 19 years old. She was staying at a Stouffer's hotel and she came in for breakfast every day for approximately 4 days. And lucky me I got to wait on her. To this day she still the most nicest human beings I have ever met! I mean that most sincerely!

      When Loretta first came to Nashville she bought my cousins house and chicken business. The property joined my grandparents so I knew the whole family. This was before the twins were born. One of the twins still lives there I think her name is Peggy . I was close friends with Ernest and we rode horses together. I have lots of memories of the Lynn family. I am sad that Loretta pasted away. She will always be my favorite singer she was the most country person I ever met. I am thankful that I really actually knew this family and they will always live on in my memories. 🌹☮️❤️🎶

    I grew up in Hazard not far from Butcher Holler, and to see the passing of Ms. Loretta is to see the passing of an era of women who possess true grit. Never forgotten where she came from. You can plainly see she seemed always worry free, from a "I'll handle my business" mindset.

    • @ellenw391
      @ellenw391 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Beatrice Brown I can't believe I actually know this, but in the hills, where areas were called "Hollows" each one was locally called for the families. Hers was for the Butcher family. And I went to confirm this, and was delighted to see I was right, and it IS a very real place on today's map. But the name had NOTHING to do with a song. Wrong and yelling about it!

I located the Webb Country Store run by her brother who took me and two other people on a tour of the house. I recall that the sign for Butcher Holler was made of wood. Yep. Those were her very early shows at very small venues...places like the local Elks Lodge and small honky tonks. Bless her little heart, it'd give her the headache that lasted almost the whole week to know she had to go sing in front of people. So glad she got to where she actually loved performing! She credited her success to God, her husband, and to all the "FRIENDS" that bought her music and came to her shows. That meant the world to her, to be able to raise her family a lot better off financially than how she was raised. A parent always wants more for their children.

    "Coal Miner's Daughter" touched upon it, but her friendship with Patsy Cline was real and special. Two incredible voices/women, at different stages of their lives, learning from and depending upon on one another. The film "Patsy & Loretta" tells this story quite nicely using some authentic Nashville locations.

    She has the same charm as Dolly Parton. Both are very witty, with a great sense of humor. My mom loved listening to Loretta Lynn, and also when she sang duets with Conway Twitty, an cut an album together. I was only a kid at the time, but my parents would take me to the bar with them, and I learned to play pool. Different times then, and this wasn’t some country town, but Burbank, CA, home of the Tonight Show, and Disney Studios.
