Kaisarion is probably the most unusual song for Ghost in that it is clearly written with the purpose of opening the live shows. It really can't fit anywhere else in the set because it's so specific to a feel of getting you out of your seat and setting you up for the rest of the songs on the setlist.

Yeah, it's also IMO the most melodic dong on Impera. Spillways has lots of layered vocal tracks, but this song just scratches everything I want in a song. All those small changes, no matter how small make this song a slapper. The instrumentals and way the lyrics are written gives you powerful insight into Tobia's mind. It's a song about Hypatia who was philosopher, teacher, astronomer, etc who lived in the 300s in Alexandria, Egypt. She was killed by Christians who believed she was a witch. This is back when Christianity was still s cult. It treats Christianity as a cult that inhibits human progress & human potential. The chorus brings us back to to the present (Long Ago, Yet Too Close To Forever). It is a very political song. Just like in the times of Hypatia, people today are clashing with the side effects of human progress. We stand at a crossroads as society. Either we will become more than human through our technological might or we will regress to our ignorant & primitive selves. This is in a way the final stand. The moment iwe split the atom, we lost the ability to believe in nonsense.

The riff in "Imperium" re-appears at the end of the final song on the album "Respite On The Spitalfields" (and it's also the final song of the live show before the encores). It's a fantastic coda and way of bringing the whole album full circle, musically.

Yeah, it allows you to listen to the album on loop quite seamlessly. I love "Respite...."

Hell yeah is fantastic!, and not only musically, but it also goes with what is the album about, the fall of empires and the beginning of new ones, it ends but it starts over again. I love it

Saw this show just three weeks ago. Such a great opening. One of, if not, the best gig I’ve ever experienced.

I think the song Cirice might be a good Ghost song to do next. =)

Kaiserion it's so up, but the meaning behind so dark. Hypatia ❤

Cirice, see the light, twenties, watcher in the sky, griftwood, and faith are all amazing songs to react to (they also won a Grammy for cirice)

Finally🎉. I've been waiting this for so long. If you keep discovering more songs by Ghost, I'd recommend to listen them in the order so you can see the evolution of Ghost

Thanks again, Max.. Great video.. I really enjoy these Ghost reactions of yours.. It's so cool to see others discover and appreciate the "small things" that just brings these songs, for me, to a totally different level. It's not like some catchy licks and funny ideas that have been thrown into a hat, then shaken up into something. It's so darn well put together.. And the best part.. you don't have to analyze it to appreciate the share craftsmanship.. but when you check under "the hood", there is so much to be found.
I had the same facial expression as Papa Emeritus did that opening vocals of Kaisarion when I heard the song for the first time.. Then the proggy Rush-like bridge.. Such a good opener!
Until the next one! (I think you will enjoy Cirice (Grammy winner) next)
    🤘

Thanks again for a great reaction and analysis.
Ghost uses acoustic guitars now and then. I would really love to see you react to Cirice, where it is important for the feeling in that son (Grammy winner as it is).
The melody from Imperium not only opens the album, it closes it as well in the fantastic song Respite on the Spitalfields. That's a true banger and beautiful! Another suggestion! 😊

“He Is” for more acoustic guitar with vocals from Ghost

Bold reaction, for a young fellah to compete/critique this album as an up and coming producer...this is the culmination of so many hit records over decades, Tobias did his homework and then some, like he is now teaching AP studio engineering and recording 101
