SpellRogue is a turn-based dice roguelike where you roll Mana Dice, spend them to cast powerful spells, gain legendary artifacts, upgrade your spells and experiment with potent combinations to annihilate your foes.

@@bekfaststealer2660 , indeed. Hopefully this video will draw some light towards that being essentially a soft-lock. Pretty amazing Retro picked up like, the one thing earlier that saved his run in the future.
Man, not only did the chaos angel 1charge debuff stack with the mutation, its order of operation was the worst ( 1rst debuff, then mutation)
I think the best solution to avoiding the Chaos Angel soft-locking a run like this, would be adjusting the fight itself. Have the Chaos Angel maybe only effect 3 random spells per turn, that way it could still cripple you, but the fight doesn't become unwinnable in certain scenarios, like this.
I like that idea. Keeps the essence of the fight and prevents situations like this one.
I’m kinda late, but I feel like the Chaos Angel’s ability to soft lock a run is perfectly in-line with the spirit of the ascension challenge. If you’re doing ascension 4 you should know about it and understand that if you take that modifier you either need to plan for it or avoid the elites in the void zone
I think with diminishment++++, it should *lock* 1 charge from all spell instead so with the Chaos Angel, the game won't soft-lock.
Yes! rather than changing the encounter I´d also change the rules / order of operations with these two modifications either like you suggested or even simpler by having the diminishment go "slot regen -1" before chaos angel goes "set available slots to 1" (I assume in the vid it was exactly that the other way around)
Probably just making diminishment not able to take a spell to 0 charges would make sense... since it's also a little weird that it makes 1 charge spells unusable, instead it would just be a slightly less intense modifier. Maybe it's only worth 8 points after that or something.
@CmdrCorn My thoughts exactly. I think you could even combine it with lock idea and make it so that 1 charge things get locked instead of either nothing happening or them being 0 charges. (The only problem is it might be too wordy/complicated then.)

Idk if you’ve every tried it but the void spell “amalgamation” and the relic that gives you the orange dice that persist and decrease count down spells each turn if not spent, make a combo if you get a 6 orange dice you can combine it with amalgamation and it turns the combined dice into a orange dice too and the new extra dice also turns orange
I bought this game and it’s fun. Best part is if I lose, I can blame bad rolls instead of my poor skills XD

been loving this game just beat difficulty 4 - def. not as easy as Reto makes it.

Has anybody tried this game on Steam Deck? I have been debating to buy this game would would love to know how it functions. Store deems it "playable", so if somebody has some hands-on-experience that would be greatly appreciated!
Give it a try! Steam has a 2 hour in-game time refund policy, so crack open your wallet and refund it if it has issues.
It plays great on the deck. In fact it seems a little better on the deck, one thing I really like is that to end turn you have to hit X and then A. It makes it much harder to accidently end turn which is a problem I've had with other roguelikes on the deck with just a single end turn button. But you can hit X to see the end of turn preview, and then hit B to go back to turn

@@Sadinar Fantastic! Delighted to hear you are having a wonderful time with the game on the deck! Seems very promising for my end than as well! I may definitely buy it when my deck arrives. Heck already tempted to just buy it now and play on PC for a bit. I am not great at these deckbuilders, but god I still find them so fun!
@@Sadinar My deck arrived yesterday, bought the game immediately and tested it out for a bit! Tonight I played another game. I am absolutely loving it! Both the deck and the game.
Game runs smooth, controls are great! And like you said the preview for ending your turn is fantastic! I am still learning the game though haha. My second run I manage to snag a win, now to try with mutators!
Dang, what a climb and a streak.
One thing I'm not sure on is the lack of events. They put loads of time into making them, but there are so few that appear on the runs, and you rarely take them. I think they need to add more into the run
I'd like to see a little more variety in the types of nodes. Battle, elite, shop, event is all. Then predetermined shards, rituals. Feels like one more type of node would help a lot. Pathing decision making right now to me consists of # of elites and do I want a shop and that's it.
I kinda hate waveshift compared to the other dice manipulation starter spells on water guy.

This game's gameplay is actually pretty fun but the art direction is really bad in my opinion, both regarding the OSTs and enemy and character designs are just not there for me
