Every scheduled appointment should have a non-refundable deposit for these type of situations. A lot of beginners will say, “well if I do that, I’ll drive away customers...” and you know what, they’re right to an extent. You’ll drive away the customers you DON’T want and you’ll keep the ones that truly see you take your business seriously.

You charge $120 for a basic wash lol. I live in so cal where theres 15 deatailers for every 5 customers per capita, they charging like $20 so my price of $35 for cars and $45 for suvs and trucks is considered the preminum prices out here. Theres literally 1000,s of detailers out here plus 2 car washes and a self service wash on every street. Its been tough to get my business off the ground where I can quit my job. When I started my business I wanted to do fleet washes on semi trucks but everywhere was trying to pay like $15 a truck plus if I have to pay someone I would of been making more at a minimum wage job.

Why are people so afraid of this? Imagine Chipotle with an enormous rent, electricity, water, inventory, labor, and they sell a bowl for $12. Yes, it costs money to run a business. Labor will always be the biggest expense. Go look at how restaurants operate. The smallest profit margins

    • @celestial7150

I would start with a local insurance agent. It might cost more than those discount insurance outfits online - but if something were to happen, you have an agent nearby. Also - some of those places that brag low premiums also have holes in their policies that give you virtually no actual coverage.

How much are you paying your employees? Rn me and my partner are splitting 50/50 profits. One year down the road we are still doing 50/50, even though I am finding every single customer, using my car, my gas (which he doesn’t pay for), my pressure washer (which he didn’t pay for), and my vacuum (which he didn’t pay for). Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

If he’s not contributing equally then there needs to be a change in income ratios. A true 50/50 means both parties contribute half and that needs to be explained
