Hey Pan, I hope you're well. I have an issue, my car was professionally ceramic coated a couple of months ago and I now want to put on a thin spoiler lip (stick on with 3M tape). Its a Mk 7.5 GTI which has a flat spoiler (not curved) and the lip is OEM, so will be perfectly contoured to fit (the same style lip as on the US Rabbit special edition). Will the ceramic coating impact the adhesion of the 3M tape and if so, what are my options please, heavy cut compound polishing, adhesion promoter, etc. (I have just messaged the detailer to get the brand of the ceramic coat)?
Hi, i was so interested and motivated about mobile detailing, but since in France we can't do that in streets, what would you advice me to do? i'm so desperate, because in US and UK it's possible to do so :( Thanks
I disagree, washing your car is still possible, and the vast majority of car owners still does this: a basic 'valet' for lack of a better term. Detailing has been around for much longer, but has reached a wider audience, apparently because there is demand and interest for the level of detail you do not get from simply washing a car.
Under your tutelage I have become an advanced amateur detailer for my own vehicles. I have learned it takes time and some good equipment to do a great job. I think detailing cars can be a great career. There are a lot of older people, busy people or people that hate washing there cars, but care about their vehicles. All are potential customers.
With the sheer amount of products out there it's easy for detailers to become overwhelmed. It's important to master a select few products and be able to use them in any situation. Hot climate, cold climate, low humidity, high humidity, low altitude, high altitude, hard paint, soft paint, etc.
Another great build. Being that I know how to weld I built my own custom van set-up. These guys make it look easy and it's not. My recommendation is spend the money and do it right the first time. My set-up: Fortress 4 gallon air compressor works great and it's compact. If you use this reel, the vacmaster beast vacuum works great. Viper pump they used works great and it's very reliable. I use the predeator 224 gas engine from Harbor Freight to run it. It's solid. Earthquake 50 ft. hose reel from Harbor Frieght is tough. 50ft retractable pressure washer reel from Tool Barn is solid. My van is 2021 Nissan NV200 with a 50 gallon and with my setup my van is at max capacity. I also installed Summo springs to help the suspension from bouncing when it hits dips on the road.
Hey guys be careful with the payload on the Ford transit connect per Ford it’s 1550 lbs only. In my area the DOT officer are pulling these vans over big tickets
For anyone wanting to start a detailing business I wish y’all luck. Because of my full time job I have taken a break from it. Don’t let these TH-cam videos trick you into thinking it’s an easy thing to do. Some cars can take up to a full day. The expectations are high and you’ll get a lot of people low balling you. Plus it’s exhausting work. Especially in the summer. I’ve decided to do it on the side and taken a break from it.
That’s what I’ll do. A weekend side gig not a full time. Not planning on getting a van either I got a worx hydroshot and a couple of 5 gallon buckets lol
I’ll say that nothing in life is easy Starting a mobile detailing business is not all about being a detailer- it requires learning marketing. what you're trying to say is more like “only in it for the money” In my experience, when you start any business you must have a passion for what you're doing, when you do you’re more likely to see success. When you truly care about the quality of your work and providing exceptional service to your customers, it shows. Customers can see when you're passionate about your business, that’s how they become loyal clients. So, while starting a mobile detailing business may be challenging, approaching it with a passion and dedication to providing high quality service it can lead to greater results
@@714Cityofsin yeah for sure. I love detailing and always want to deliver a great result. But the business side can stop you from it. Depending on how much a customer is willing to pay before you just cheat your self out of time and money wanting to deliver a transforming detail ya know. Only reason I’m doing on the side now is because my main job (Pepsi) 10 hour days full time is taking a toll on my energy and ability to deliver good results to my clients

I've certainly improved from watching Your videos. I'm 52 and have been detailing since I was 15. Thank You, Pan! I hope all is well with You. Detailing season is coming!
Very cool video, Pan. The optics of having such a well organized work area is so valuable for credibility and efficiency. I love to see things done right!
Really nice. As an auto technician, I would remind anyone thinking of doing something like this to keep in mind payload capacity and GVWR of the vehicle, and not overload the vehicle. This setup looks awesome and functional, though. Nice job.
So important. As a mobile pet groomer I have seen many DIY mobile grooming units van and trailer both that people don't take into consideration the amount of weight they are adding to their vehicle. People may not realize the weight a 65 lb freshwater tank filled to capacity and the fact that it moves. Also generator is way a lot. Hundreds of pounds. I know this unit is different than a mobile grooming unit but weight distribution is an important thing.
Omg I was doing this out of the back of a 1976 ford Country Squire in the 80’s. The sum total of my investment was likely under $150! The biggest expense was filling the 11-mpg gas tank😅
Thank you for all your great videos! And thank you for not playing music over your words during your videoa. It is super frustrating when people do that, I can't hear their what may be good content. Thanks again for providing such valuable information.

I use to hate washing cars with a passion I was the kid outside washing all of my parents vehicles with dawn dish soap and a old bath towel. I hated the drying part especially all the streaking , wow if I knew back then what I know now. I love detailing as a side hustle now! Still have a lot to learn tho.
I think it depends on the country/place sb lives. The amount of work when really paying attention to detail is huge, not many people are willing to pay for it. For example in GR for a regular inside out car wash you pay 10-15 euros yet people complain (and based on the salary I cannot blame them). Not many are willing to give more for a better (detailed) job. I remember a decade ago we were washing our cars almost every weekend, after the 10 year crisis majority of people tend to do it once a month. On the other side there is the price of the products. I found carpro darkside 500ml 24euros which may seem ok since it's costs as much also in the US but the salaries are incomparable. I would love to start this business but due to the overall situation here I think it's more prone to fail. Greetings from Athens.

very cool I was thinking with all that extra weight would drop the MPG big time.. but I did the math with about an added 800 pounds it would reduce it by 4mpg so with the ford transit connect being 25mpg it would probably reduce it by 21 - 20 mpg having a full tank of water.
Great set up the only downfall is if the car breaks down u have down time the machine is stuck in there . If u get a slide in slide out equipment u can transfer to another van or truck to get back to work . This one is more for big companies have extra trucks or vans and no need to take out equipment.nice design but I would still keep my slide in and out equipment or if u sell the car way easier to transfer to the next new car 👍🏻
@Pan The Organizer so I decided to start a mobile detailing business last summer and I while I knew how to clean a car I was searching for tips and techniques that maybe I had no idea about but then I found your product reviews especially the year end awards. This was very helpful.
Question: why wouldn't it be a brilliant idea to put a flowjet system in there one time if you're going to install a high-power pressure washer? This will add efficiency while giving a great customer experience...call it a bay on wheels. right?
I don't have a van, as I'm not mobile. I detail from my custom two car garage. But yeah the space is super well optimized and organized to detail. You would have to reach out to mobile detailers in your area and see where they get their supplies from. Or you can reach out to H2O Auto Detail Supply or Streamline Detailing Supplies (both in California if memory serves me well) and ask them if you can buy one from them or where you can find one. There are typically many sizes and models available from 35 gal to 100 gal which is typical for mobile detailing van setups. Again, do a bit of research for detailing supplies shops in your area, or country, depending on where you live.
Hi Pan, Tks for the reply. I'm in BC, Canada. I have been trying on-line for many days and also many shops, but always finding water tanks for camper vans and these are not as narrow as the one in the video.
Could you recommend a shop that would customize my trailer for detailing in southern Florida, or anywhere in Florida? That would make life much easier for me. Thank you.
Do they have more content on that frontier build it im currently running a 65 gallon with a 3000w generator with a basic electric pressure washer and 2 50ft hose reels one air one water but my main problem is my storage on the inside juss isn’t what I’d like
Pan, not sure where to post this question. But when it comes to product cohesion, what are you opinions on this? Do you feel you can go with one lineup for all your needs or do you think that it's okay to use different brands for different needs? I know you have mentioned brand cohesion but with your tutorials and knowledge, I feel there are great brands for somethings and other brands for others.
I use my favourite products from different brands, I don't stick to just one brand. Chemical compatibility is more important when layering products. For example, if you apply a base layer of CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 coating, you might want to stick to use the CarPro Gliss 2.0 top coat as a topper, instead of using Gtechniq Exo V4 topper, for example. But for the rest, you can use what ever products you want, from any brand you want.
Hey Pan! Have you seen the new 303 Graphene Tire Gloss Coating? Was wondering if you’re going to post a video about it. Really interested in these tire coatings that claim months of durability.
Too bad that countries like the one i live in does not allow washing/detailing cars on public domain. Therefore we have to settle in a garage, and cannot extend our business to be mobile too😢. Still, thanks again for the inspiration Pan!
Not that I know of. Even in the USA, custom mobile van setups are rare. People usually "jerry rig" their DIY setups. But a few pro shops are starting to offer their van customization services now, so perhaps that trend will grow in popularity if there's demand for it. Welcome to my channel. Really good video! Love the guys at H20 but this doesn’t really break down how a mobile detailer can build it themselves it more of a promo vid. But again love the guys just a thought
This isn't a promo video at all. Not a sponsored video. This wasn't meant for a step by step so people can do their own DIY setup. This was meant to showcase what a detailing van setup can look like, all while showing experts doing their craft to a high level standard. I myself was curious to see how fabricators create these custom detailing rigs. Pretty cool.

Is it really a good time to start a detailing business? Today’s economy would say no. Food, gas, new cars, cost of borrowing and the large majority of life’s basic needs have skyrocketed in the last year or so. We are on the verge of a recession. So, is the number of people with leftover money in their pockets, and willing to hand it out so that their car looks “prettier” large enough to expand the detailing market? I’m not convinced. Sure, there are people who would prefer spending money on having someone detail their cars instead of paying down their debts. But, I think they are few and not enough to grow that market at this time. Don’t get me wrong. Detailing your car is a good thing and I’m constantly doing mine. I’m just not paying someone else to do it because I can and the money that I save is enjoyed elsewhere. Sorry for being a downer, it’s just my way of seeing the detailing market in today’s economy.
It's country dependent. Pan is in Canada, average salary is totally different in other countries eg Greece where I am from or the other Balkan countries. I had a friend that ended this business and he was a good one. Many people were washing the car, were astonished by the result but never returned because they were cheap and searching for more cheap alternatives. And that was before the economic crisis that hit us. Nowadays the most are going to the auto wash and not even use the whole program. A little water, some soap, rinse (2-3 euros) and bye bye who cares for the rest 3-4 steps (brush, rinse, wax, rinse with purified water)
@@tsatsmana : Yes, the salaries in Canada are good. However, they reflect the higher cost of living there. So, more income is not necessarily better when your expenses are also high.
@@Itsme-vo4fx true yes, there is an analogy but yet some products seem to have similar price with countries with much lower salaries. However indeed, I did spent two weeks in the US four years ago and to my surprise the only cheaper thing were clothes (US brands). Blessings my friend.

Thankful they put the generator on a slide out. It needs to be slid out each time it's on. And exhaust fumes will enter the vehicle if doors are not open and generator not slid out. As a mobile groomer I see so many DIY mobile grooming units that people put generators into the compartment of a trailer or van. Bad idea. The only generator that can be in the compartment and exhaust plummed properly is a Onan.

My set-up:
Fortress 4 gallon air compressor works great and it's compact.
Considering the water tank when filled is 800 lbs alone.
@@princeboateng694 that’s all you need. Start easy and simple then you’ll upgrade slowly

That kids gonna head back inside and have another Twinkie why his team of installers clean things up in and around that build.
Bruh this is the best comment on here. 🫵🏻😆

Why does the top right side spray bottle holder rack look crooked?
I saw the same thing and was wondering if it's just due to the angle of the camera and the door of the van.
I noticed that too. I think it’s a design element. I think with bottles in place it might look cool???
Me llega muy Buen trabajo nice video very well explain .good job Bien trabajo 😊😊😊
What are the dimension sizes for the back doors I’m going to install the sheet metal and need the measurements

Hi Pan. Where/how can I find this water tank? I have been looking every where without success.
cheers.
Hi Pan,
Tks for the reply.
I'm in BC, Canada.
I have been trying on-line for many days and also many shops, but always finding water tanks for camper vans and these are not as narrow as the one in the video.
How much would a set up like that cost?
You'd have to reach out to them and inquire on general pricing depending on your needs and budget.
How much would all the equipment cost if someone has their own van?
Could you recommend a shop that would customize my trailer for detailing in southern Florida, or anywhere in Florida? That would make life much easier for me. Thank you.

Any provisions to make oil changes easier? Seems like oil changes would be complicated.

Hey Pan. Love your content.
I live in Toronto and was wondering if you know of any auto detailing van setups here jn the city?
Not that I know of. Even in the USA, custom mobile van setups are rare. People usually "jerry rig" their DIY setups. But a few pro shops are starting to offer their van customization services now, so perhaps that trend will grow in popularity if there's demand for it.
