thing is roxanne 64 shure are great at being sound great with affordable pairings at higher level they sort of behind, its also why i said kse1500 is very interesting iem
That acoustic channel stuff and the signature it gets out of a single BA really is something else. Kinda rare to see something so out of left field and unique on the market. Man if I had the cash to burn $140 on a novelty IEM I'd grab this in a heartbeat.
@@vigneshg2935 I'm only guessing as I don't own the Hexa, I do have the Magic One, £70 in the Black Friday sales. They look OK, are a comfortable fit, but I find they sound rather uninspiring tbh. I have the 7hz Timeless, Sigmot Supermix 4 and many KZ models plus Moondrop, Tangzu etc; I found that I enjoy the KZ ZSN 10 pro much more than the Magic One and they were £30 plus tax's and shipping. The 10 Pro's to my ears are more delightful and have a larger soundstage than the Magic One. For a single BA and good fit I give them credit, for the actual listening experience, I don't rate them very high, they are just OK...pleasant enough but quite far from outstanding. Best to get them on sale if you want them, I'm glad I didn't pay more than I did, there are better options for less than $140 imho.
Im wondering if this design plus a DSP front end (like Moondrop is now doing) would transform the sound, particularly on the engagement front? I think high quality components + good tuning + DSP + configurable software is the wave of the future for price performance and multiple sound profiles.
I found that these need to be inserted in my ears as deeply as possible…like wet the eartip deep…and then they really come alive with all that engagement you felt was missing :)
Afully good review. I agree it's priced a bit high and somewhat average sounding. However, I added it to my collection due to its design and to support the company.
Hi! I'm deciding among these three (all of them are at the same price where I'm from): -Aful Magicone -Truthear Hexa -Simgot EM6L Which one has the better technical capabiliies? Which is the most, netural revealing or accurate? Like which will reveal a badly recorded, mixed and mastered track? I will be using the one I choose as a 2nd reference for producing, mixing and mastering music (when I need to rest from studio monitord and headphones). Cheers!
It's kinda cute seeing that tiny BA inside that shell. Not a lot of single BAs in chi-fi land, Fiio FA1, Audiosense DT100 / T180 are the only ones that come to mind, is Brainwavz chi-fi? They released a model called Koel which is also single BA. Definitely a technical marvel which is probably why it cost 140 and not around 60 bucks.
excellent video, I have a question, I recently entered the world of IEM , and my question is about the tunings. What would be considered an all rounder IEM? something more towards neutral?
This IEM is the only one other than the ER2SE that gave me those fleeting psychoacoustic moments where I feel like I'm listening to the source itself and not through an IEM. Just sounds incredibly natural to me, once my brain adjusts to the slight peak at 6k. The reason why I reach for it more than the blessing 2 these days, the blessing 2 sounds better overall but the coloration that it gives to the timbre is so distinctive that you're constantly reminded of the fact that you're listening to it. but ofc this my incredibly subjective perception of how it sounds, and I can't really recommend this over other hybrids/single DD/planars that are cheaper.
Thank you for this review. I have a question: I noticed your graphs of this and the Aira 2 are extremely similar. How are they compared in the ear? Is the bass on the Magic One comming accross leaner? And how smooth is the treble compared to each other?
Unengaging is a word that I would also use to describe the Magic One. I picked them up for £70 during the black Friday sales. I prefer the KZ ZSN 10 Pro 2, and they were just £30 plus tax's and shipping. I was shocked at how good the KZ ZSN Pro 2 were and rather disappointed with the Magic One, glad I didn't pay more. To be honest, I think £70 for the KZ and £30 for the Magic 1, scales better imho.
@@SuperReview The XM5's are nice but my field of ref is small. Only tried the Hola and the Aria. Crin does a decent review. A bit heavy on the bass at default. They can be a bit bass dominant on some tracks and you lose the details in the higher reg's but with a little EQ that's cured by all accounts. I don't regret the purchase for the other attributes, they're good for calls.
Is this an IEM you think could contend as a good stage monitor or travel set? I know in the past, you enjoyed the comfort of the legacy 2 and 4 which straddle the MagicOne's price bracket
It’s impressive for a single BA. But at $140, why not buy something that’s impressive without that qualification? The Magic One is fighting with one arm tied behind its back for no benefit to the consumer, just as a technological curiosity and proof of concept. I might be willing to spend $70 on something like that, but $140 is entirely too much.
This one is good and can be an option if you are looking for a good tune single driver BA iem besides of DD and planar. But if you already have a strong multidriver iem like juzear 41t, hisenior t4, and kiwiears quintet. You don't need this one imo
I actually really like these with the right tips. I have far more expensive earbuds and IEMs and I always look forward to listening to the MagicOne. It gives up a bit in the detail department, but there’s something about the cohesiveness of the sound and its neutral presentation that just sounds great on everything. I read that it needs a bit of juice to really open up, but I’ve only used it with powerful dongles and HPAs so far and haven’t tested that out.
I paid $109 and right now, on Amazon, it's only $89!!! That's a STEAL!! These are super clean and neutral, yet have an interesting flavor of their own.
I bought this off of the hype, before it was released. I was shocked by how bad it was and returned it. It's ok at low volume, but turn it up and it shouts badly. I'm not talking about over driving it either. All of my other IEM's can handle that same volume level, with room to spare. This one can't perform with significant Gain.
@@SuperReview yes I understand. Gain impacts volume. The frequency graph looks really good. The problem came when I turned to volume up to 80 (out of 120) on my Fiio M17. I have the performer 8, MMKIII, SA6 MKII and all have no issue with the gain I was using on the Aful Magicone. I tried eq in Poweramp as well to the 10dB 5128 target. Still shouty and distorts. Hifigo are going to have the set tested for defects.
it a cool novelty, the inside looks incredible, but i think ill just try this in tokyo and take some pictures and thats it. Maybe ill buy it if i have money to burn????

I have the Moondrop Kato, which is a single DD IEM, but I have been interested in trying something with BAs. This seems like the perfect gateway!

Listening to this on my etymotic er4xr single balance armature kings
They're using a transmission line design to produce lower frequencies. It's the same transmission line design found on full range speaker enclosures.
