I got me a set of the Explorer’s coming in a couple of days. Thursday to be exact in 4.4mm. It should pair very well with my FiiO Q15 quite well. Great review as always my friend. Cheers 🍻🍺🍀🎸🍀🎻.
@@KashanArtist Both are excellent IEMs, but the SIMGOT EA500 LM has a slightly bright sound signature, which can come across as shouty or harsh on certain tracks, though the bass quality is impressive. On the other hand, the Explorer offers a more balanced mid-range with a slightly darker treble, so it is a comfortable, though less airy, listening experience, with equally strong bass. The Explorer is great if you listen to genres like rock or metal because it makes harsh music sound not so harsh. I've noticed both are frequently on sale. You might also consider the DUNU Titan S2, which has a similar sound to the EA500 LM but comes with better accessories and cable, or the SIVGA Que, which provides a similar experience to the EA500 LM without the shoutiness or harshness.
I finally got around to getting this, I'm loving it for metal! You can really crank it up if you wanted to, and its comfort and cable is a+ tier. edit It looks like they changed the cable connectors to your typical metal flush 2pin.
Rock on! Thanks for sharing. The Explorer is one of the few IEMs I recommend for metal music. I'm glad to know about the cable; it makes the IEM even better.
That lower gap in the upper treble is perfect for loud volumes. Because at loud volumes only the upper mids and treble shoots up. Most reviewers dont test at high volumes when people that like metal and rock they always listen at hight volumes. Thats why i retuned at least 80 sets because the mid bass if its low when pump the volume the sound loosed the note weigh and becomes thin and then the upper mids and treble goes up by 3db to 5 when i play at 85db and over. So this iem was made for rock people that love to boost their volumes . Simple
these explorers are not the most expensive in my collection but they've quickly became the one i pick up the most. excellent easy listening set, can't complain. what do you like to listen to with these?
Nice review. The MagicOne is one of my favorite IEMs to listen to when I am tired since the bass is BA bass which has much softer attack in comparison to DD bass. I definitely am going to purchase the Explorer. For the CKLVX CK-D41, try Azla SednaEarFit eartips to resolve the fit issue which you are having. When I used EQ to remove the CK-D41's mid bass tuck, the mid bass became noticeably muddy.
The MagicOne is also a favorite of mine for relaxed listening. Are you referring to the AZLA SednaEarfit XELASTEC? I have a few pairs, so I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip! 👍🙂
@@chillstep4life I would recommend the CKLVX D41 only if you like an IEM which has a bit of an earlier rise for the simulated pinna gain, or only if you are willing to use a bit of parametric EQ to tweak the overall sound signature. My EQ settings remove the early rise for the pinna gain and and slightly remove the mid bass tuck. This results in more natural sounding male and female vocals. My EQ settings also slightly roll off the deep sub bass in order to prevent the sub bass from being slightly overpowering. The D41, when using EQ, sounds very nice such that the D41 earned a slot directly adjacent to my Performer 5 in the watch box which contains my favorite IEMs. The D41 occasionally goes on sale for around $140 which is what I think that this IEM is worth. I recently saw the Performer 5 on sale for around $180. I would pick the latter if you can get it on sale and if you can afford it.

Hi, very good video, it really helps us judge different IEMs sound. It will be really helpul and interesting if you make comparison/upgrade video for new enthusiast in this hobby like me. Where what is the jump from basic IEM like CHU, Zero 2, Warner to something middle ground Delci, Explorer to higher budget IEMs. I understand more money doesn't mean better audio as I was shocked when I listened between Moondrop CHU ii vs Truther zero: blue. Truther sounded pathetic to me.
Thanks for your comment; that's an excellent suggestion. Are you suggesting a comparison video between budget IEMs and higher-end models? Or perhaps discussing when to upgrade to better IEMs and what differences to expect? As you mentioned with the Moondrop Chu II, more expensive doesn't always mean better; there's definitely a point of diminishing returns to consider.

Both the AFUL Explorer and Celest Relentless have unique sound signatures. The AFUL Explorer is balanced with a touch of bass boost, offering textured bass. On the other hand, the Celest Relentless, especially with silicon ear tips, has a fun V-shaped tuning that emphasizes the upper midrange and treble. One standout feature of the AFUL Explorer is its ability to maintain a smooth sound even with harsh or aggressive music, never sounding harsh or fatiguing. The Explorer is great for vocals as they sound intimate and rich, while the Relentless excels in treble extension and technical performance. The detail retrieval of the Relentless is a step above the Explorer.

I believe the Explorer is ideal for metal music because of the tuning of its mid-range, reducing harshness, shoutiness, and listening fatigue often associated with the genre's harsher elements. Additionally, the Explorer's small earpieces provide a comfortable fit for your ears. I use SnowyNight as a portable DAC/Amp. The AFUL Explorer has a more textured and detailed bass with greater slam, along with detailed mid-range and clear vocals, offering an intimate, neutral sound signature with a bass boost. In comparison, the PULA PA02 focuses on vocals but has excess upper treble that can sound splashy with rock music. The PA02 has a wider soundstage, while the Explorer's is more intimate. The Explorer is more comfortable to wear and smaller in size than the PULA PA02 and even the Performer 5. If you own the PA02, you'd enjoy the bass impact and detail of the Explorer, but if you have the Explorer, upgrading to the PA02 would be more of a sidegrade at best. I prefer the Explorer because of the sub-bass, mid-bass, and because it can maintain its clarity during busy music passages.
@@Atechreviews I already have Pula Pa02, I don’t like rock, but I Listen pop, hiphop, reggaeton, edm. I like my Pula a lot, so I’ll stick with it. Thanks for your answer.
Yes, it sounds great with K-pop and J-pop but the vocals might sound a bit laid back on low volume. On mid to high volume, the Explorer becomes a fun sounding IEM.
I hadn't heard of it before. I am not a bass head. However, I do appreciate high-quality, textured bass. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the recommendation! 👍
I'd say Explorer because ea500lm can sound too harsh (at least for me) just from looking at the graph and owning a similar IEM such as OG EA500. I didn't try the nova myself, but I demoed supermix 4 which is similar to Nova, and usually that kind of tuning doesn't go well with rock due to lack of mid bass. The only caveat to me on Explorer is that female vocals can sound too recessed and maybe the lack of air region as well. If I'd nitpick it more, the transient speed of kick drums is slightly slow to me for genres like metal.
The EA500/EA500 LM is a solid IEM, but for me, it’s a bit too bright. The upper mid-range can get a little intense, especially with energetic genres like indie rock or J-Rock, where the brightness really stands out. The AFUL Explorer, on the other hand, has a more laid-back or relaxed upper mid-range, and the treble is on the darker side. But when you turn up the volume, it really shines and vocals sound more forward. It’s got plenty of bass and is super easy to listen to, making it a fun, fatigue-free option for all-day listening. As for the Truthear Nova, it follows a tuning that’s close to Harman, so you get forward, engaging vocals. However, it’s not a bass-heavy IEM, and some vocals might come across a bit lean. Still, it's another great choice and has great forward vocals and great treble. If you want more bass, though, the Explorer will give you that extra punch.
@@Atechreviews Thanks for sharing more insights. I tried listening to audio comparisons and it prolly does not accurately reflect how they sound but I found to like the 500lm's signature better except the treble.
When comparing please mention more the name of the EM because I cannot understand which one you describe this moment. And I have feeling explorer is better than em6l, magicone, d41, so why do they make them? Don't get me wrong, I'm just a little bit scary when reviewer says only good about iem. I'll buy it and maybe will have dissapoint. There must be criticism, describe without only good qualities But thanks for your job! I watcking your channel. Just dont know steel if to trust you, juszear 61t good, dynaquatro good. It cannot be this way)
Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I welcome and appreciate it. 🙂 1. I’ll make sure to include the IEM name in future discussions. Thanks for the tip! 2. To clarify, I prefer the Explorer over the EM6L and others. While some love the EM6L, I’d pick the EA500 LM. Preferences vary, and while I favor the Explorer, others might lean towards the MagicOne due to its different tuning. I’ll be more mindful of how I phrase things and clearly separate between "better" and "I prefer it more". 3. You’re right. I should highlight both pros and cons more clearly. I have been doing that in recent videos. The Explorer has relaxed vocals and darker treble at low volumes and I actually liked that because it never came off as harsh and had a pleasing sound. I’ll make sure to include more details like that in future reviews because some people might not prefer it. 4. I’ve noticed some people had different experiences with the 61T I reviewed, possibly due to QC issues. I’m not entirely sure why, but I’ve read online that it could be a quality control issue, with even some differing graphs out there. As for the DynaQuattro, I really like its bass that doesn’t overshadow the mids, along with its detailed vocals and natural timbre. That said, it could use a bit more treble extension, and it does need an amp since it’s a bit harder to drive. Also these are the IEMs that impressed me and the things I don't like about them are few. Overall, I think it’s great to hear different opinions, not just mine, and I’ll definitely focus more on mentioning both the positives and negatives of each IEM in the future. Thanks again! 🙂
I prefer the bass on the Explorer. While the Performer 5 has better and more detailed treble, I find the overall sound of the Explorer more engaging and enjoyable.
@@Atechreviews makes sense. I'm considering trying out the Explorer! Wondering if the separation and clarity is any better or worse, but might have to just try it out to see...
I'm going to order the Aful Explorer today, but I'm bit curious about it's sound output. Because I have read somewhere that it is a power hungry IEM and it demand 60 - 70% volume to open. I don't have any high power tube amp or PC Setup Dac, all I have my FIIO KA13 dac dongleto to drive them . Can it give Explorer enough Power to drive on its full potential . will you help me please.

I haven't had the chance to try the FUDU, so I can't provide any comments on it. However, the Explorer is similar to the Performer 5 but with enhanced bass, greater clarity, and improved detail retrieval in the bass and mid-range.
@@calvinlooi4500 The Performer 5 has greater treble extension, enhanced treble detail, and superior instrument separation compared to the Explorer. It also offers a much wider soundstage, better imaging, and lower bass for those who prefer that. In contrast, the Explorer has a more intimate soundstage. The Explorer is expected to provide excellent value, as it leverages all of AFUL's experience and combines the technology from the Performer series and MagicOne, which makes perfect sense.
@@Atechreviews thanks for the detailed comparison! Looking forward to more of your reviews as our preferences seem similar. Bought the Delci after your review :D
The cohesiveness is impressive. The transitions between the lows, mids, and highs are seamless and well-balanced. It's also great at handling complex tracks without losing detail or clarity.
@@marumaru5480 The Explorer excels in its sub-bass, it is more pronounced. However, in all other aspects, the Chopin shines. It has excellent treble, exceptional detail, forward vocals, and a wider soundstage.
@@DrinkWater713 The Explorer has better bass with greater texture and quality, surpassing the P5 in both quantity and quality. While the P5 has slightly better separation, the Explorer maintains its clarity and separation even during busier musical passages. On the other hand, the Performer 5 excels in treble clarity and definition.
Do you think that the AFUL Explorer is good for EDM? I'm looking for sub-bass focused IEM's for Electronic Dance Music. I'm currently coming from the 7Hz Salnotes Zero and I like the sound but I wish it had more sub-bass and more detailed bass. Would the Nova or Explorer be better for EDM? Which one would sound closer to the Salnotes Zero except with more bass?
Yes, definitely. The Explorer is fantastic for EDM. While the Nova has clean and detailed bass, its mid-bass feels a bit light and doesn’t deliver the satisfying slam that EDM needs. That’s why I think the Explorer’s bass makes it a better fit for EDM. The Salnotes Zero has more forward vocals and more treble extension compared to the Explorer. The DUNU Titan S2 shares a similar tonality with the Salnotes but has more bass. Still, I personally prefer the sound of the Explorer.
Hello friend I'm new in your channel. I have a question, I own S12 regular which I like them but sometimes I want a smooth sound with more bass more punch mid bass and more forward mids. I like the treble in S12 but when I turn up the volume it hurts to me. AFUL Explorer is a good option?
Yes. I have the same experience with the Z12 (similar to S12). To me, the AFUL Explorer never sounds sharp, shouty, or sibilant at any volume with any music.

Ideal for FPS gaming with excellent imaging, precise spatial cues, and bass that enhances the ability to hear footsteps.

between explorer and pula pa02 what do you prefer? could you compare it?
i have pula, thanks for the review
@@saullete You're welcome. The PULA is a great IEM.
does the explorer do well in kpop jpop genres mainly female vocals
Yes, it sounds great with K-pop and J-pop but the vocals might sound a bit laid back on low volume. On mid to high volume, the Explorer becomes a fun sounding IEM.
Would you recommend this or chopin?
Chopin.
sorry if I missed it but whats the price of the explorer?
I was informed it will be priced under $150. At CanJam, they mentioned it would be $120.
@@Atechreviews seems like great value for 120
@@alvarg Definitely.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Mangrid tea 2.

I hadn't heard of it before. I am not a bass head. However, I do appreciate high-quality, textured bass. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the recommendation! 👍
@@Atechreviews it’s a cheaper hype 4 basically
@@Hijynx87 I like the Hype 4.
How do you rate the virtual stage at the Explorer?
Immersive and intimate.
@@AtechreviewsHeight, depth, width? Is the 3D scene visualized well in your head? How clearly is the arrangement of musical instruments visible?
Deciding between Nova, EA500LM or Explorer. My playlist is usually energetic with J-Rock, Indie rock, Punk, Phonk. Which do you think would be better?
I'd say Explorer because ea500lm can sound too harsh (at least for me) just from looking at the graph and owning a similar IEM such as OG EA500. I didn't try the nova myself, but I demoed supermix 4 which is similar to Nova, and usually that kind of tuning doesn't go well with rock due to lack of mid bass. The only caveat to me on Explorer is that female vocals can sound too recessed and maybe the lack of air region as well. If I'd nitpick it more, the transient speed of kick drums is slightly slow to me for genres like metal.
Thank you for the insights, I'll keep this in mind. Looking into the EW300 and S08 as well.
There must be criticism, describe without only good qualities
But thanks for your job! I watcking your channel. Just dont know steel if to trust you, juszear 61t good, dynaquatro good. It cannot be this way)
Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I welcome and appreciate it. 🙂
how do you like these compared to the performer 5s?
I prefer the bass on the Explorer. While the Performer 5 has better and more detailed treble, I find the overall sound of the Explorer more engaging and enjoyable.
@@Atechreviews makes sense. I'm considering trying out the Explorer! Wondering if the separation and clarity is any better or worse, but might have to just try it out to see...
@@Atechreviews ordered the explorer! gotta try these out.
The Explorer is easy to drive, but the sound does open up at higher volumes, making it even better. The FiiO KA13 is all you need to drive them to their full potential. Enjoy your new IEMs!

How is the timber of it? is it plasticky?
Not at all. It has a natural timbre.
Does the explorer sound warm like the P5 or Fudu? I'm looking for a neutral set, wondering if the Explorer is a good fit
I haven't had the chance to try the FUDU, so I can't provide any comments on it. However, the Explorer is similar to the Performer 5 but with enhanced bass, greater clarity, and improved detail retrieval in the bass and mid-range.
@@Atechreviews wow seems like it's a much better value than the P5. Any reason why someone should pick the P5 over the explorer then?
@@calvinlooi4500 The Performer 5 has greater treble extension, enhanced treble detail, and superior instrument separation compared to the Explorer. It also offers a much wider soundstage, better imaging, and lower bass for those who prefer that. In contrast, the Explorer has a more intimate soundstage. The Explorer is expected to provide excellent value, as it leverages all of AFUL's experience and combines the technology from the Performer series and MagicOne, which makes perfect sense.

How’s the cohesiveness of the explorer?
The cohesiveness is impressive. The transitions between the lows, mids, and highs are seamless and well-balanced. It's also great at handling complex tracks without losing detail or clarity.

@@tristankrafft4201 There's very little BA timbre, if any at all.
