    thank you so much for this video i have the same faucet. My handle was stuck and wouldnt come off so i had to tap it with a hammer until it became loose. My water softener let resin into all the fixtures in the house so i cleaned up the cartridge and pipes and it was good as new. Make sure to clean the handle with vinegar so it doesn't get stuck in the future

    This was a big help. I saw the brass ring but didn't know the stainless steel sleeve was a separate part. I was looking at it and wondering how I was going to get that ring out of there. After watching the video this was an easy fix.

    Thanks, useful. And for others I'll add my experience. Like many, my parts were seized up with lime or whatever from all the leaking. I just accepted the finished retainer was going to be marred by the channel locks. It would not have come off by hand or other nondamaging methods in my case. It did come off though with some effort. Same with the brass ring. I used vise grips. Crescent wrench was not effective. Again I dinged it up and it took some effort again. I was sure it was going to break but it eventually turned. Otherwise, no issues. I would source a new brass ring and finish ring if available before starting. I reused mine but they were pretty beat up. No problem with the handle, though I did clean it up with soft scrub, does a good job on water deposits and soap scum. Rinse well. Loosen the set screw and just wiggle til it comes off.

    Great video - thank you. The purpose of the screw in the cartridge - you referred to it as something that has to do with the handle. My plumber replaced the cartidge but left that screw off which I discovered today after the handle was leading. I simply tightend up the brass screw wing until replacement parts come from Pfister. Can you tell me more about what the Phillips screw's purpose is and how far it supposed to extend from the cartridge?

      Bill,
      Fantastic to hear that my video was a great help.
      Sorry to hear that your plumber lost the set screw. Per your question, the purpose of the set screw is to keep the handle screw securely in place so it cannot excessively move back and forth and damage any of the internal components. When your Pfister parts arrive, I recommend that you install this set screw as soon as possible.

      The Pfister Faucet in my video does NOT have a cap covering the set screw. As shown in the video (1:31 to 1:45), I used a 3/32-inch Allen Head wrench to remove the set screw at the base of the faucet handle.

    I'm unable to remove the retainer ring under the handle in order to remove the brass ring and the cartridge. I've used large slip joint pliers, but that isn't doing much except leave teeth marks on the retainer ring. Pfister is not open on Sundays or holidays, so we are without operating faucet unless I can get that retainer ring off the faucet. Thanks.

    Nice video. But it's much harder to disassemble in my case. The faucet has been in the kitchen for 7 years and it started to leak water. So I got a new cartridge from Pfizer and tried to install it according to the instructions and your video. But every step was so hard because almost all components were fused together by calcium or whatever from the slow water leak. After struggling I finally took off the small hex screw in the small hole under the handle. But the handle didn't budge at all after that. Using more strength I finally took the handle off but also with inside components. Everything inside is kind of glued together. Not sure what to do next.

    • @LetsFixItRight
      @LetsFixItRight  ปีที่แล้ว

      NoSuffix,
      With several component fused together with calcium, I recommend that you place them in a container of white vinegar to dissolve the calcium. If that doesn’t work, you could purchase a new faucet or call a plumber if things seem to be impossible to work on.

      @@DN-rg9nj Like I said, I finally took the handle off by using so much force that I broke the inside cartridge into two pieces. I also knocked off stuff around the sink with my arm swinging so fast when the handle finally gave out. So it's a good idea to clean the area around before you apply some real force. I did get all those parts replaced at the end thanks to Pfister's perfect lifetime warranty. After I uploaded descriptions and photos to Pfister website, they quickly contacted me back asking if I wanted a new handle with all its inside components or even a whole faucet. I choose a new handle and in days they are couriered to me in several packages, and yes, before the Xmas! Another tip is that soaking the parts in white vinegar doesn't dislodge the inside components. Because I tried that after I took down the handle by force. Soaking the whole handle in double strength (10%) white vinegar for 5 days and everything still stuck together. It's a lost course which can't be saved once it is stuck so badly.

    • @LetsFixItRight

      DN,
      As shown in my video (1:34 to 1:48), your handle should have easily come off after removing the set screw. If it is frozen in place, I recommend that you try spraying some WD-40 into the openings around the handle to free it up.

    Great video! Is there a trick to removing the handle after the set screen is removed? The handle won’t budge like it’s got another screw holding it on. Jon,
      I appreciate you taking time to make this valuable comment and welcome your interest in my “Let’s Fix It Right” channel.
      Is your faucet a Pfister? If not, I recommend that you go to your manufactures’ website and download the manual for your faucet. There could be another set screw or something else that you need to do prior to disassembling it.
      If it’s a Pfister, the set screw that I show in the video should release it. I recommend that you gently work the handle back and forth to break it loose. Do not force it too much. You could break it and cause it to leak.
      If that doesn’t work, you could purchase a new faucet and install it per the manual. If you do that definitely keep the manual for future reference.
      As a last resort, you could hire a plumber. He will most likely tell you the faucet is bad and want to install one that costs more than you can get from Home Depot or Lowe's.
      Hope this helps.

      @@LetsFixItRight Thank you for the response! I really appreciate it. The sink is a Pfister similar to the one you show in the video. I was able to eventually remove the handle by carefully tapping it off with a hammer and screw driver (probably not the right tool for the job but effective). It was a matter of hard water scale buildup holding it on there after the set screw was removed so I was able to clean all that out of there while the handle was off during the cartridge replacement. Albert,
      It is possible that you installed the cartridge out of alignment, etc. Considering that you know the Pfister Model No (G133-10SS), I recommend that you download the manual from Pfister's website and strictly install the cartridge per their instructions. It's possible that the Pfister cartridge in my video is older and the installation is slightly different.

    • @LetsFixItRight
      @LetsFixItRight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      John, These are challenging problems with this small set screw. Using a Tap and Die Set, you can try to cut new threads, and install the next size up Set Screw. You may have to drill it prior to cutting the new threads. If the screw will not come out, you can try drilling, cutting new threads, and installing a larger set screw. As a backup, you may have to purchase and install a new kitchen faucet. Absolute last resort is hire a plumber. Hope this helps.

    Why is it necessary to replace a cartridge? Poor water flow? Water won’t completely stop?

      Jim:
      Calcium deposits in the water supply can clog this cartridge over time. Replacing this cartridge, which is provided free from the manufacturer, immediately fixes this problem.

    Can’t get the sleeve off.

      Malkies6341,
      Recommend that you spray some WD-40 penetrating oil on both edges of the sleeve. After letting it soak in for a few hours, place a protective rag around the sleeve and unscrew it with a large set of pliers or channel locks. Please ensure that you are moving the sleeve in a counter clockwise direction.
