My apologies. Do replace this item, turn the water off to the faucet. Use and allen key wrench to loosen the set screw and remove the handle. This next part is sometimes tricky. There is usually a decorative cover that needs to be removed. However it can be very difficult to remove without scratching it. 1st try to grab it with your hand a turn counterclockwise. If this does not work, you may be able to use a rubber strap wrench to minimize damage. Once removing the trim ring, you should see a brass nut that can be removed by turning counter clockwise with a wrench. After the nut is removed, pull the 974-074 cartridge straight out. Insert the new part and reverse directions. If you need any other help with it, dont hesitate to contact us.
@@PlumbingPartsPro can you post a video? I took off the decorative part and used a Phillips screwdriver to take out the screw from the handle since it wasn't an Allen wrench like other videos and now I tried to pull off the handle and it won't... So I'm stumped

I already know what it looks like. I have one in my hand, per the Pfister schematic drawing for ordering parts. I thought your video was going to show me how to replace it, as the video title says. I was wrong.
i have the vosa kitchen faucet, ordered a new handle because old one has all the chrome coming off. i could not get the cap covering the set screw to come off. i drilled it out and it still wont come off. i called pfister and they told me to finish drilling it out knowing it will break, they are sending me a new cartridge. i too would like to see a video on how to get that old handle off.....
Like everyone else states, you do not show how to replace the cartridge. I suppose you have to remove the 962-0750 bonnet nut. Please advise how to remove the bonnet nut. Thank you.
Theres a dome cap under the handle that screws off. Be gentle cause it's sometimes brittle. Under the cap is a brass nut that is removed counterclockwise.
This is what I had to do to replace my Pfister 974-074 in my single-handle kitchen faucet Turn off water supply. Use 3/32 Allen wrench to remove handle. Remove screw into cartridge. Save. Hopefully I can hand twist the side cover counterclockwise. If I have to use large pliers, use something to protect the finish (rubber, etc.). Unscrew bonnet counterclockwise with 1” or 1 1/16” wrench. Lift the cartridge out. It may leave the gasket, which has to be removed. Insert new cartridge, matching holes. Screw bonnet back tight enough, but not too tight. Screw handle-holding screw into cartridge. Put handle back on and tighten with Allen wrench (however, I couldn't get that step to work).
Thanks for the info. This guy's video was useless, but you gave me key info and I was able to get it done!!! Just to see this done would have made it so much easier.
Just curious we have to replace the same cartridge that this video is about. However we cannot get the handle off we've tried everything we've been to the store. We've cried it with flathead screwdrivers everything any video has shown us to try and the handle will still not come off.
I know this is old but there is a small grub screw in the back of the handle. I had to use a mirror to see it as it was close to the backsplash. I had a bag of hex tools and found one that fit. Hope you got it sorted.
After fully removing the set screw (step 1), I cannot remove the handle. Using moderate pressure up, and twisting/turning, the screw hole is still well aligned - 0 movement. I am afraid to use too much pressure... what should I do and which way should I push?
Hi, does this cartridge control the water temperature? The water temperature keep changing on me constantly. As it changes it becomes either too hot or totally cold. Thank you.
I'd check the inline filter that they put in the assembly that goes from the normal faucet hose to their special threaded assembly. Mine was clogged. they have a knurled nut that you can remove by hand, but the clog is on the screen that is upstream from the knurled nut. I had to remove their threaded assembly with wrenches.
I need the supply line for a Pfister 26 series kitchen faucet. The faucet has a 1/4” female thread, and NONE of my local hardware stores have this line. Can you help?
Having trouble getting the handle off after taking out the set screw. Is there a puller you can get for this when they are corroded or is it easier to just get a new faucet?
This one has had troubles with handle removals the cheaper metal it's made of corrodes ad makes it difficult. Try to take a flat screwdriver and pry up from the base of the handle. There really isn't a handle remover for this type of handle
I believe this is the part for my Parisa model Pf bathroom faucet. My issue is that the handle comes down as I'm washing my hands reducing the water flow. Will replacing this part solve that issue, or do I have another issue? Should I replace this while I"m working on it anyway? I've had the house almost 6 years and this was already here. Thank you!
I will bet that most of the 72 comments ask you why you didn’t show how to repair or replace the cartridge in the sink body like the title of the video says. Have you made very many TH-cam videos about repairs? Doesn’t seem like you really grasp the concept of what those words mean.
I have replaced the cartridge twice, each time the cartridge worked for two days Than the handle would move up and down, when a tried to move the handle to the right to turn on the water the handle would only move to the right in one spot, not through out the range of the temperature setting. I'm I doing something wrong?
To remove the decorative cap, simply get a small hammer and tap on it lightly for a bit. Then get a slightly larger hammer. Be careful not to scratch the finish on the faucet. Tap a bit harder. Keep turning up the aggression. Now the final step. Put the hammers away and get an ever so small amount of C4. Place it gently in the cartridge hole Next, attach a fuse to the C4 and carefully light the fuse at the end opposite your 'splode puddy. Grab a cream soda and sit in the next room over until you hear the removal process complete. Now return to your faucet. You should find the cap and the rest of the faucet fully disassembled. Lastly, jump in your '86 F150 and head down to Harbor Freight for a short hose and some duct tape to complete the repair.
I agree with most comments. It shows the part not how to remove the old one or install the new one. A regular wrench will not fit as there is no room between the nut and the sleeve surrounding it.
It should come right out. Make sure you have the correct size wrench. Also sometimes there is grime stuck inside the hole from soap. Maybe a smaller allen key or pick to get grime out
I have two issues with my faucet one of which I know is the cartridge. I have two questions: 1- my faucet will randomly not flow any water. Everything else has been checked and is open (no clogs or debris) as it should be. Therefore, why does this cartridge stop flowing water without being clogged? 2- depending on the answer to the first question, is there anything that can be done to prevent or prolong these cartridges from failing? FYI: The other issues is the handle will not stay in the off position, its weight pulls it slowly open. For now I have a rubber band around it and the main faucet riser it to keep it close/off.
They flow issue turned out to be the tiny check valve (if that's what it is) in the line before the faucet. I just removed the internals and haven't had any issue, that I know of. The handle staying in position didn't return after I replaced the valve* and tightened everything properly. *I got a oem replacement valve from Amazon.
For all the people wondering, for my faucet you pull the handle straight off after you get the little set screw out, but it's not easy the first time. The difficult part of the repair is tightening the nut down properly, its got to be a lot tighter than you think. If I ever have to do this repair again I will order the nut, the one i had was undamaged but to get it off again will definitely damage it. .
Replacing the cartridge was not difficult. You will need to remove the cover (lower handle), then used 3/32 allen wrench. Philip screw driver to remove the screw. the silver out ring is removed by hand. The copper ring holding the cartridge I used the channel lock pliers. Cartridge was quickly removed and replace in minutes. My hot water problem though did not get fixed. Trouble shot the problem and switched the hoses, around hot/cold and whatever I connect the hot water hose to will not work. Line clogged somewhere in the faucet and switching the cartridge did not fix it. Faucet is brand new and only worked for about 10 days... Sucks!
We ran across recently a faucet supply line underneath the sink that had built in check valves. Make sure one didnt fail. Disconnect the supply from the faucet side and aim the hose in a bucket and turn water on to see if you get hot water.
@@PlumbingPartsPro I swapped the cold to hot lines to trouble shooting if it was the house line. The cold side of the faucet got hot and when I went to the hot side of the faucet, the cold water never came through. I removed the faucet and exchanged at Lowes, it was 3 weeks old.
