kurosawa developed 99% of the nsx and actually got honda to create such a car. He still holds many records on the nordschelife today and was one of japans top racers in the 70s
It's untrue, the main drivers who helped in the development of the NSX were Senna and Nakajima. Kurosawa is not mentioned by Honda as having participated in the development. The car only went into series production after Senna's feedback. On Honda's website they mention Senna's name, but they don't mention Kurosawa's.
@@leonardokdc1 Kurosawa was a bridgestone tire tester as well as honda test driver at the time. To be honest, I don't think they get much credit for all the crazy stuff they do. Best Motoring has videos of him talking about testing the then acura legend coupe and twisting the frame and dropping the window on a nurburgring test drive with Honda executives spearheading NSX development at the ring. He also talks about it on his own personal channel and organizes a NSX gathering in Japan every year. All of the official NSX nurburgring lap records were set by Gan-san. I'm sure Senna and Nakajima also tested and gave input, but they were also full time F1 drivers where testing production cars were not their main job.

I noticed Gan-san follows a constant radius arc whereas Senna chisels the corners up Ving off which is actually faster because there's more straight line braking and straight line accelerating. Senna also bends the car round corners with a sharp steering input on the apex setting the straight lining up. There's also zero delay between coming off the gas and jumping on the brakes, that's F1 for you. I like Gan-san's buttery smooth style which is a product of his era and machinery in a time where you really had to caress the car delicately. But Senna is a ruthless animal behind the wheel and I can see where he snags a lot of time up with the car always on the edge!
These Motoring videos got me absolutely hooked on Honda at 15 years old. I'm pushing 40 now, and love Honda just the same. I'm hoping the true Honda spirit is revitalized somewhat though. Maybe the new Type R will help.
yeh, i noticed this watching another channel - having them side by side it shows Senna, if you didnt know any better, drives like a complete amateur. I saw something that broke down his style and the conclusion was it wasnt fast and would only work in a handfull of cars. But then i guess thats part of the legend, a legend isnt going to fit our idea of how things work.
I prefer Senna's riding style, a style that comes from Kart. His style made a difference in every situation, especially in the rain. Meaningless comparison, Senna was just doing tests to help with the development of the car. The Japanese driver took it seriously, he wanted to be faster than Senna.
Great video!! Sad side: the japanese that looks like as fast as Senna should be an exemple that the japanese drivers are good as any driver from Europe, USA or Brazil. But we still have the same misconception about Japanese drivers caused by Satoru Nakajimas' season in F1.
Quebresil I agree with you, I just don't think he was in the same level as Senna, Senna wasn't even wearing a helmet for him was probably just like lets do a warm up lap.
