Honestly, unless you're playing a mill deck (in which case graceful tear might be better), it's most certainly better than the next 6 spots on the list, I don't think he made that up. Is it bad enough to be on the list? I don't know. Most life point gain cards are little better than a dead draw if you play against a meta deck, so I don't know if it's the 7th, the 10th, or the 13th worst life point gain card, but it certainly is better than the next 6. So you have good life point gain cards, average ones, bad ones, and then clearly the worst that can be neatly arranged in a clear top 6 or 5. Within "bad" they all sort of blend in and it's hard to tell which is worse. You could try the empirical route and see which winning decks contain the most copies of one of these cards, but "0 for all" don't really give much information. Perhaps a good way to test would be to make a deck which is specifically trying to counter the meta, splash 1 copy of the card into the deck, play until you've gotten that card in your hand for at least 7 duels, and then repeat for each card you're testing.

First thing that came to mind: Gusto.
Some have an effect of deck summoning "when" sent to the GY, but the effect misses timing on a synchro.
Changing it to "if" would mean you waste half your resources every time you synchro or link with them. [Edit: XYZ wouldn't work, cause rereading I saw they must be sent from field to GY. From overlay zone they won't work]

Top Ten Cards that Can Only Search a Single Card (Ex: Aleister The Invoker, Apprentice Illusion Magician)

I don't know if there's enough for a top ten list, but, what about Search Cards That Search Cards They Aren't Supposed To?
The most obvious one is the Vehichroid search card that searches Dark Jeroid. There's also a Guardian searcher that can search random cards that aren't in the archetype.

How about a "Top 10 Competitive Cards from the _ Era" series? So top ten competitive cards released during the DM era, the GX Era, the 5Ds era, etc.
You could also apply that to competitive decks of that era, as well.
Or even top ten cards of each era’s that are _still_ competitive to this day, or are at least potentially still potent enough to influence deck building even if said cards aren’t exactly common these days.

Would skill drain work for it as well. You flip Immortal of Thunder and then flip up Skill Drain as a separate chain them just sac it off for a stronger monster
@@hanakoisbestgirl4752 You'd need Soul Drain, since it would activate when it hit the Graveyard and Skill Drain only works when it's on the field.
Also, its effect is not OPT, so it's not impossible someone might work out a combo to flip this up an unlimited number of times to get a arbitrary level of lifepoints.
Of course, you could do the same thing with morphing jar and FTK, but that draws the opponent into every handtrap in their deck, while this doesn't.
"7" is part of why I love this game. That a slot machine is well mimicked within the mechanics of the game, is so cool.
As an old fan of the series, I really wish 7, 7 Completed (completely unrelated effect somehow) and Slot Machine actually interacted with each other to make getting off 7's effect easier while buffing Slot Machine...

@@thatguyinthecorner4648 I would literally just bruteforce the combinations one by one until I found a good match lol Most combinations would give you like 450-900 attack mons and then seemingly randomly some stupidly good lv4s with 1800+ attack! Went back years later and studied the system a bit and now I just breeze through the game using mostly combo cards rather than real cards, it's crazy and I love it

Graceful Tear was used in some Duel Links OTK decks. By giving Rainbow Dragon to their opponent, they could deal 4000 points of damage with the effect of Ally of Justice Decisive Armor.
As a child we all think life points are the most important thing in the game
Watching the Yu-Gi-Oh anime growing up ingrained the idea of life points being super important into my head.
As we age we realise it’s the EXACT opposite. There’s only one life point that matters and it’s your last one
Its something I realised that wasn't very important in my 9 year old playground duels because of The Cure Master lady who gives you 1000 was used far too much. I was like thinking to myself... you used 1 card for that effect, lmfao.

I remember at some point during my playground duelimg days "wait, the main thing that matters is making sure I can get high attack point cards to beat over my opponents cards." And I realised that gaining LP did like nothing because a good high attack point monster could do like 2500 in one attack.
This was so nostalgic...

The following is what I wrote before realising my mistake. :x
#1 would probably be Exchange. There may be better cards with that effect, but even though you don't get to choose which card (unless you have only 1 card in your hand, or multiple copies of 1 card) the fact you can take a card from your opponent's hand of your choice while seeing their entire hand and potentially putting a specific card in your opponent's hand does give it some niche usefulness. After all, one of the hardest places for your opponent to recover a card from is your hand.
Shout out to Magical Contract Door though for being a generic searcher of Level 7 or 8 DARK monsters - and as such having some *very* good targets.
i have a the supression pluto deck with 3 copies of exchange, gold moon coin an graceful tear and it is a fun gimmick deck.
I've seen a replay that's about giving the 2 Drytron rituals with Gold Moon Coin, then using the last effect of Ally of Justice Decisive Armor to discard those things and burn the opponent for 8k, causing a FTK. It was incredibly convoluted, but really funny.
There is swords for weather report otk, but that relies on your opponent not realising what you're up to, which they obviously would if you used graceful tear (maybe not with exchange or gold moon coin).
Lol card number five reminded me to this joke.

Update: you can do this in Yu-Gi-Oh Cross Duel game, but the maximum number is table #4.

well, the card says to target "A" player, not you or your opponent. If you are going to a tournament only to be masive troll and make your case to the Judges.
After that all the participants trigger Mystical Refpanel, putting the tournament itself in a infinite loop.
I recall hearing of a story I've heard like this with a Magic the Gathering card from the Unhinged set or a similar set. It causes the target player to lose and actually has reminder text stating it doesn't have to be your game or MtG. The guy pointed to a Yugioh player at the shop.
@Chains of Scarlet Granted, the story is possibly apocryphal plus the Unhinged and Unglued sets are joke sets.

So many of her cards mostly Pikeru is cause of LORE. As Konami is known for prioritizing LORE over sensible card design

Those archetype were predominantly have more female members than male, rite 2 aqua and gryphon rider.
I know that Curran and Pikeru decks and archetypes are intentionally terrible, but I love the idea of having a monster level up in such a creative fashion. I tried to make a couple of joke Pikeru/Curran Decks in Legacy of the Duelist, they're definitely just fun to play around with, with almost certainty that you will lose.

Griggle: You only gain LP after switching control to your opponent while IT'S faced up
At least Griggle gives you a lot of LP and it has really bad stats, so playing it with Creature Swap to steal a monster, gain 3000 LP, and then squish it with a strong attack isn't the worst thing you could do. Even then, it's hardly the best card for that purpose.
Exactly. Now something like Ameba however, with an opposite effect, does good with the Creature Swap method

Mooyan Curry has a niche use of artificialy boosting duel ratings in Duel Links. You use the card to give the opponent 200 LP and once you take him down with one 4200+ ATK, you can get the comeback bonus from beating your opponent who had more LP than you had at the beginning of the turn and the no damage bonus from not having lost LP during the duel.
It is situational but in Duel Links, the card does see some use because of the duel ratings manipulation.

They should introduce a card with some effect like "only activate this card if you have above x amount of lifepoints (let's say 20k lifepoints) this activation cannot be negated. You win the duel. It would be cool to see a lifepoint increase deck.

You can use some fairies to create a “life point increase” deck it’s kinda fun, but would probably be destroyed by anything remotely meta lol.
There was a LP gain deck you could use in the YGO GX GBA game, but it was really only used in one event where you could duel one of the teachers after failing the monthly exam, and they'd give you money equal to your remaining LP at the end of the duel. Since the goal was just to maximize your LP, there wasn't really a win condition apart from standard beatdown or deckout, since you weren't really trying to win so much as not lose. The goal was to get cards like Cure Mermaid, Spirit of the Breeze, or Dancing Fairy on the field and then use Spells/Traps to keep them alive as long as possible, or utilize an AI exploit that forces all of their monsters into Defense position if you control the highest-ATK monster on the field.

From experience if you go first and have soul absorb and any "banish" card like macro cosmos, at least online they kinda tripple your lp (unless they harpies) cause they just combo even if there cards are going to banish and gaining you lp
I remember abusing The Immortal of Thunder with Spear Cretin's bugged effect in Stairway to the Destined Duel (GBA). In that game, Spear Cretin doesn't actually special summon monsters from your graveyard, rather it creates a copy of the card you selected that counts as belonging to your opponent. So you would get the LP gain and your opponent would get all the damage.
Man, that's busted as hell.

@@Master1Morrison I made a deckout deck centered around reusing Morphing Jar and Needle Worm with The Shallow Grave and Spear Cretin, then I noticed how Spear Cretin's effect "worked" and played around with it a little.
Muscle Medic would probably see some play if it was released back in the middle ages of 2004-2006.

I could probably abuse Muscle Medic even now if I handed it to my opponent and crashed all four of my Scapegoat tokens into it. There aren’t many easy ways to rack up 8800 LP’s like that, especially if I could follow up on that somehow.
@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire it's still kinda too slow for modern yugioh. Life point gain in general isn't as big of a deal was it was in say 2004 - 2006. You're basically wasting a turn you could be using to win the game (especially when the name of the game in modern yugioh is to win in one turn).

@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire hands down, you can easily gain over 20k lp with a single card, and that's considered not worth it because you still go -1. Your combo goes -4 (you lose a monster, your scapegoats and a card to give control, your opponent gains a monster) and doesn't even gain half that many lp. That's not abusing it at all.

7 was released back when archetypes were denoted by "cards with [archetype] in its name" rather than "[archetype] cards".

Though I can't speak from experience on how White Pickels taste, the main deciding factor was probably that I generally prefer inflicting damage to gaining life points.

Works well in a casual deck based on removing cards from play. Suprised the video didn't mention the option of somehow returning the card to the hand once flipped too
I don't know why I watch these videos. I only casually play M:tG, and haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh in over a decade. And yet somehow, these are really enjoyable to listen to.
Due to the wording of the card, Muscle Medic's effect applies to both players, so you can use it to crash into your opponent's high attack monsters to gain LP. Alternatively, if this is the only monster on your side of the field during the battle phase, your opponent is going to have to use a card effect to destroy it, unless they're willing to waste an attack that will only result in a heal for you.
It's gimmicky but still, I find it cool. Also the artwork is amazing.
The more I watch these videos the more I realize you have to have a lawyers mind to fully understand and play this game.

What if Konami made an archetype that had different effects based on how much lp you gained with a card effect. Like gain 500 or less search out a card from that archetype, gain 501 to 1000, special summon a monster from that archetype, 1001 - 1500 draw an archetype specific monster, 1501 - 2000 special summon from the deck. Make the lp gain specific, but make the effect really good. Several of these cards on this list could be useful.
One that I've been thinking about for a bit is Top 10 Cards that Influence Card Design. Things like Lonefire Blossom, Instant Fusion and Machine Duplication where just by existing they affect how other cards in the game are made.
I remember trying to experiment with Immortal of Thunder back in the day to see if I could make it work with anything consistently. I considered comboing it with either Penguin Soldier (to return it to the hand) or Banisher of the Light (to, well, banish it) but unfortunately I could never get either one off consistently.
Top ten monsters with effects that allow them to be placed in your backrow (whether it be set like artifacts, turned into continuous spells, turning into equips, etc.)

I have seen Jenis played as a spicy side card due to the new time rule implemented in tournaments. Though literally most other burn cards are better for that, such as firecracker or any LP gain cards like spooky dogwood

Whhhooooaaaa, seeing Hysteric Fairy gave me a flashback. I totally played him a lot when I was a kid, for the reason you described: my deck was mostly built around getting 1800 attack monsters or 2000 defense walls to wait until I could summon big guys. I may have used his effect once when I had some spare Scapegoat Tokens and I wanted to clear so space for monsters with effects that I could tribute? Not sure, but it was rare I ever actually bothered doing that.

Far as Immortal of Thunder goes, recall seeing a few casual decks back when I played in college that used banishing effects like Macro Cosmos and Dimensional Fissure to get around Immortal's steep life point loss since the card wouldn't go to the Graveyard if it was destroyed while said banishing cards were on the field.
When I played DMVR, I always ran Graceful Tear for Battle Royale Duels, cuz it always felt fun to give a player who was nice to me Raigeki, Mirror Force, Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, or some tide-turning card that could help them win when I knew I was going to die

I think a top 100(107), ranking each "Number" Xyz monster (Including/Excluding Number C or any variation of the original Number. Not sure if you'd want to feature the Numeron Gate Numbers 1-4 or the "Fake" 1-4 Numbers i.e. Cicada King) with a brief summary of it's relevance and strengths/weaknesses would be really cool. If the time and energy invested into researching them isn't too exhausting that is!

Then I'll flip up the trap card Loss Time, once my opponent has 16000 lp. So I can piggy back and instantly put my own lp at 15000.

Hysteric Fairy counters Ojama Trio (and burn in general) pretty well in Goat Format, especially for Chaos decks
i don't know if you already cover that in one of your videos, but is there a reason why both when and if effects exist, or more like the whole miss timing mechanic? it seems just redundant, like there's a ton of cards that would be decent if not for that.

It's worth noting that (a) you don't have to use the card given by Graceful Tear, and (b) it can be used to trigger the effects of cards that require naming a monster in your opponent's hand (especially with cards that are harder to summon).

Immortal thunder was a hero in a certain GBA game that I can’t remember. I forgot which yugioh game it was , could have even been duelist of the roses but thay card would save me in dire situation

I thought of a retrain for it: same first effect, but also when either player gains or looses LP, you can activate all copies of this card from any combination of your hand, deck, field or graveyard for a free 200 LP each, but the cards used this way are banished after activation, all at spell speed 4. Not much LP gained, but its almost never dead, and can handily thwart OTK attempts that are overly precise, and also get up to three cards in the banished zone for the sake of other cards that benefit from that sort of thing (like Gren Maju).

I have to wonder if this was inspired by your last match with Jimbles on Hardleg's channel.
My favorite deck was a combo of old and, at the time, new cards. I combined Geartown and Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon with Magical Hats and stall cards like Destiny Hero Defender, Spirit Reaper, Arcana Force 0 The Fool, Spirit Barrier, Mirror Force, Waboku, Gravity Bind, Swords of Revealing Light, Messenger of Peace, Level Limit Area B.
Sprinkle in a few Counter cards and get ready for a slow brew salty opponent that randomly gets wrecked by 2-3 Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragons popping up randomly in one turn.

Immortal of Thunder is hilarious when you realize he's one of the cards XYZs breaks and is you use him for a rank 4 he's not leaving the field AND going to the graveyard at the same time so his negative effect never takes place.
Xyz are just funny like that and you could probably protect him with things like Gentlemander. Worth it for 3k lp? Debatable but funny regardless.

Before I started playing, I thought that having a lot of life points was a good thing because it meant that you'd somehow be able to win. After actually playing the game, I can confirm that unless you've got a strategy or you're against someone who uses a lot of really strong monsters, there's no real reason to focus on increasing them.

I love using my life point mill deck I use gracefully tear to give pot of desire to opponent and side effect with trickster trap I've won duels because of them because alot of the time even if they would just win if atked they still will choose 3 side effect and has gotten better with mystic mine, gingerbread house, and there can only be one

muscle medic can be useful with mega morph & a quick play extra deck summon like super polymerisation, you give your opponent life points, end your turn once they get out say their boss monster you fuse muscle medic. with their monster then when it’s your turn use mega morph and then it’s GG
Muscle medic kind of worked on early victory road exodia decks. But yeah, you need a good twist on it to work
If gryphons feather duster was a quick effect you could use it to pop artifact scythe on your opponents turn
And if you are about to slot dpe scythe into ancient gears like I am today in ancient gears you could do that AND pop geartown
For Immortal of Thunder, you CAN use it to help you get off the effect of Life Equalizer, but it still is really bad, especially since even then, Wall of Revealing Light does a much better job at it!
PS: If you just want ridiculous LP gains btw, either go Manticore of Darkness loop with Card of Safe Return and Solemn Wishes out (gain up to ~27K LP on 60 card decks) or Dark Snake Syndrome with Prime Material Dragon (way slower and gives LP to opponent too, but is the single biggest LP gain possible after a lot of turns in a 2v2 co-op setting with 60 cards each capping at a few multiples of SEPTILLION LP per turn after like 110+ turns, even 1v1).

Now I'm curious. Aside from Exchange, Gift Exchange, Magical Contract Door and Graceful Tears are there other cards which allow you to give one of your cards to your opponent?
You could play some mind games with them, like mimicking the anime and make them activate The Seal of Orichalcos so they lock themselfes out of the extra deck, or set Soul Release which then can be force activated with Bait Doll, allowing for a cheeses win.
I know there's some gold coin moon thing that lets you draw 2 cards by giving 2 from your hand to your opponent. I was thinking of using that in some kind of crazy combo with cards that require you declaring a specific card type/name that your opponent has, but I can't think of any cards that would be amazingly useful with that
A card called psychic eraser laser is really good for nurse burn. It non targeting sends an opponents extra deck monster to the grave and then your opponent gains LP equal to its attack

Could you use Muscle Medic by crashing it into high attack monsters? This way it acts as a deterrent by having a negative for being beaten over as well? Not competitive in any way but seems to be its intended use?
