Yep, a 2018 designed A-Class is still more advanced than the 2020 Golf, A3, and 1 Series, its amazing how far ahead this car was, and still is! It just shows that Mercedes are always that 1 step ahead of the competition
No its not ahead. The new Volkswagen Golf and new A3 comes standard as hybird. For the Mercedes you got to pay atleast 10/15 thousand more to get a hybird engine...
@@TA-uj7ez one aspect does not mean the entire A3 and golf series is ahead 😂😂 the technology, styling, power, efficiency, and comfort is ahead in the A-class range, making it ahead. As most professional reviewers will tell you
@@TA-uj7ez The golf and A3 are fuel powered as standard with a mild hybrid for the petrol version. Mild Hybrid does not mean it’s a proper hybrid. The proper hybrid costs extra.
In India people admire this car but they ask some cheap questions like 1. Tell me what is the mileage? 2.Service charge / Maintenance charge ? 3. For this Rupees (money) we can buy 4 or 5 Indian or japanese car with different colours.
I love this car. 😍 This is still my favourite compact car. 😍 I remember being so impressed by it, not just because of the technology, but also how it drives. It was so good. I remember laughing at myself, because I wanted it so much and wanted to trade my car for it. Why I laughed is because my current car is higher in the Mercedes-Benz hierarchy than this car...and costed much more than the one I tested. Of course, mine is still more comfortable, luxurious, and quiet, but the pure ambience and atmosphere of this A-Class was enough to draw me in. So I can imagine someone who is only just starting their journey into the Mercedes-Benz world and getting or considering this car after being in a more budget segment into a more luxury one. They will be even more blown away. I see why it is so successful. This A-Class opened a whole new world, and I love it so much. I think it is still the benchmark, especially in its segment. It is still ahead in so many ways, even today. Not many hatchbacks or even other cars have what it has. Pretty much what we can get in this A-Class is only available in other Mercedes-Benz models, not its competitors or other hatchbacks or compact cars. This includes the AMG variants. The only thing that makes it "not as special" is OTHER Mercedes-Benz models having what it has in terms of technology, services, and ambience inside. I think even in five years this A-Class will still be special in its compact segment. Great video, Nick. 🤗
Wow agree with all of that Lightning Farron! I know such a good model and even in 2018 when I saw it’s launch so don’t think I truly appreciated how far ahead this car was! It still is today and as you say I’m sure it will be even for the next few years. It might be the entry level model but it certainly leaves a wow factor that’s hard to beat!
@@npoleary no nick I have just today had my first go using the paddles it was a lot of fun in sports mode and it a completely different experience will definitely be using it more in future but I learn something new every day great car ...
@@npoleary I have a question for you nick do I need to reset the car in some way so I can get the best results from the manual gear box as I try to change gear between 3000 and 4000 for max effect but find that it changes for me
It depends to be honest the car will always go back to it’s automatic mode after a few seconds of driving without touching the paddles. Some models also feature a full manual mode where you have to change gear which you can sometimes make on the individual mode.
MBUX was not introduced by the A-Class, you’re on that count. The system first appeared in the S-Class, and was filtered to the models below. The A-Class was running the previous Command system when the S-Class had the MBUX system.
Hey Sublime Comprehension, MBUX first came out in Summer 2018 in the A-Class and a very weird turn of events filtered through the cars from there. The S-Class has only just got MBUX (gen 2 with a portrait style screen) earlier this year. I covered it here in my review: th-cam.com/video/zXFAYspuNQY/w-d-xo.html MBUX gen 1 never made it to the S-Class and prior to this it has always run COMAND Hope that helps! 🤓
10.25 inch displays are usually found on things called Premium Packages so keep an eye out on those ones. It can vary from country to country (sorry hard to tell where every is from on here in the comments). Also note it does very from model to model too 🤓
@@npoleary haha fair enough I live in England I appreciate your reply again I want the a200 I think that's a sweat spot I am not keen on crazy horse power I love inside and entertainment system like that 10 inch displays haha
Hey for mpax, no sadly you can’t watch TH-cam on most cars out there…that would be cool to have one day though! Some models of Mercedes allow video playback but that’s just because they have a faster processor inside. If you get a memory stick with a movie on and try it then if it does allow video playback, it’ll pop up on the screen.
Your videos helped usher my decision for firstly Mercedes in general but especially our A-class 250 AMG Sedan, beautiful car in digital white + Night package.
This the colour and package Im thinking of too as I find the all black night package sedan do not have the nice contrast like the white. How are you enjoying it so far?
@@happyhero1093 It came out great, the digital white against the black is super fresh. Also has a deeper tint in sunlight which is much better than the flat white.
Thanks Sven, I know! 🥳 I literally saw that this morning...mind blowing I still can’t believe it! Mmmm...I guess for now keeping making videos! 😅 Next week’s one is a good one, finished it already! 😝
Ah Mark sorry no! 😅 The announcement / reveal was only on the 23rd, so I won’t see that until summer at the earliest! Wish I could get my hands on it now though!
I got a super late 2018 A-Class A180d Sport Premium so I have the 2 big screens, comfort seats and ambient lighting. Edit: I also added Active Distance Assist Distronic on mine and it also reads signs adjusts speed and drives by itself just like the S Class. It also has the parking assistance so it can park by itself. Its pretty crazy stuff.
Just bought a 2018 (new model) A200 Sport Premium Salvage. Very excited. I always buy salvage and fix them up. I manage to get whatever car I want for half the retail price.
@@npoleary They are usually write off cars that insurance dont want to fix, a lot of the time the damage is very minor (broken bumper or grills) and its a very easy quick fix. I dont fix it myself but if you know good bodywork people who dont rip you off. You can get a bargain. Only issue is that when it comes to time to sell, the value will be a little less as it’s a Cat car. Also great video!
I was really impressed from this car thanks to your videos, but after the test drive i felt literally in love for it and for the plug -in version... i am looking-forward to get my 250e next month 🤩 thanks a lot for your job 😄
Hey Mitch, no it’ll be the same car (same design) but there will be a couple of spec changes since it’s launch. Your local Mercedes dealership will be able to let you know what’s available now 👍🏼
Hey Zac, I try not to go into too much detail about Premium & Premium Plus Packages etc in the videos because specification can change over time and it's different for each country round the world. But in terms of the sound system comparison, currently in the UK, the Mercedes-Benz Sound System (225W) is found on non AMG models. It's very good and offers a dedicated amplifier and subwoofer to enhance your listening experience on the inside. When you go for an AMG model such as the A 35, on the Premium Plus Package Burmester is included. As this is a branded sound system, the listening experience is exceptional and offers amazing clarity. It features 590W and has been specifically designed by Burmester themselves. More info can be found about Burmester here: www.burmester.de/en/Automotive/Mercedes-Benz/A-Class/
AMG line is very similar to other manufactures like BMW’s M Sport or Audi’s S Line range. AMG Line takes inspiration from the AMG’s but there will always be some things reserved for the ones with the fast engines like the A 35 or A 45 S
I have a 2019 A-Class A180d sport executive so it's pretty good in the toy dept. I absolutely love it though If I could I would change it for the saloon version with the premium plus pack, I think the saloon is absolutely gorgeous.
Great review. I appreciate this is purely about the A class but dont overlook the B class. Have just got a B200 amg line Premium and it is superb. It has everything the A class has but is that much bigger which makes it great for families and a boot for the dog as well if you have one. The 1.3 163hp is a peach of an engine. I have read reports that people think its a bit rough but I can assure you at normal speeds and revs it is far from that and also has a good deal of pulling power. On a recent longer journey this week I genuinely got 53mpg out of it which shows the clever tech of shutting down 2 cylinders at times must be doing its job.
Excellent Matthew! Yes not many people know about cylinder deactivation on that engine! I’ve had that engine before and I have also achieved MPG in the 50s so is completely achievable! Ah if you have Premium, you’ll have all of those fancy lights! Let me guess...Blue? 😛
The mileage trip? Have the mileage visible on the screen by swiping your black touchpad to the bit you want to reset and when it’s there, actually press it in. It’s a button too 🤓
Hey Adam, I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere in other countries but I can confirm it’ll come on automatically when you switch between Park / Drive in the UK on modern Mercedes. I’ve had two before and it worked back till 2016 on my first one
Hey Nick, nice video. Is it possible to update the screen (display) after purchase? Or even possible to add ambient lighting for a Class A AMG line (advantage package)? thanks
Hey Pascoal, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! No sadly not, Mercedes can only sell the cars as described on their spec sheets and can’t fit things after the car’s been made.
Hi Nick, I wasn’t planning on making a dedicated video on them as just tapping either one will put it into a temporary manual mode and you quite simply go down a gear or up a gear. It’ll stay in the temporary manual mode for a maximum of 8-10 seconds depending on accelerator input before going back to auto. But if you hold the right one it will go back to auto straight away.
It depends on the spec, I thought it was just Premium Packages that had it but as always it will vary round the world so might be best to chat to Mercedes directly. If you give them a reg of the car they can check for you 🤓
Nick I drive the GLA 2023 and I’m changing again in July I am disappointed with the front tires as go on board I would like the head office in Germany address so I can lodge a complaint I think the car is too heavy for the frontAnd it is causing the ball tires on the front is Mercedes responsible for this problem and is it under guarantee thank you very much Alice Burke
Hey Alice, if you have any issues the best thing to do would to speak with your local Mercedes and they can help you out. Really sorry I don’t have any contacts in Germany or anything like that as only review them and produce tutorials for my channel on TH-cam. They will be to help you out though! Hope you get it sorted!
Thanks Steve, the good thing with the A-Class & B-Class is that they share the same engines and specifications so they are almost the same in terms of the their buttons layouts on the inside. It’s just the shape where they differ. I honestly haven’t seen a B250e in person yet. They share the same 10.6kWh battery and 1.3L engine as the A-Class so they’re very similar. If I get my hands on one I will though!
Hey Amir, thanks for the suggestion although I wasn’t planning to cover the A180d specifically. However it is one of the most economical engines Mercedes make so it may feature in the future!
Hi you are doing amazing job thanks a million I have ordered sport executive coming on Thursday but really like amg line but it's only factory order not available now So confused is sport executive good
Hey Manish, thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos! Ooo very nice! Ah sport and AMG Line are just the looks on the outside. It just adds a few kind of lines and angles in the bodywork and larger wheels and red stitching to the interior. There’s a few other things but that kind of generalises it, other than that they’re very similar! I’m sure you’ll love it! 🤓
Hey Pixel Playing, best to speak with your local dealership to get the latest prices and of course what’s included with it. In the UK it’s part of the Executive Package and has quite a few other things bundled in one package.
Hey Mark, it’s on my to do list...genuinely haven’t seen a new one to record in almost a year! 😓 They get snapped up really quickly! When I get my hands on one I will 🤓
Hi Nick, Great video as usual. Do you know if Mercedes are bringing out that car as a 250e manga grey AMG line Edition hatchback? I prefer those wheels or the bladed ones. I find the current five-star wheels to be less attractive though. Thank you. Geoffrey Salvage
Thanks Geoffrey! Glad you enjoyed the video! No sadly I wouldn’t know if they are, they haven’t had that paint option for a while on cars now. It’s an awesome colour, hope it comes back!
@Nick O'Leary Hi Nick, Wow! Thanks for the fast reply. Do you know why Mercedes are using the current five spoke wheel design on the A Class 250e car. Personally, I prefer the bladed design wheels, in silver, black and silver or just black. I feel that the current five spoke design wheels detract from the sleek beauty of the cars. Thanks. Geoff
Does the a class sports premium 2017 have the voice command function? I can receive phone calls, but can't make them unless I scroll through the functions by hand on the media screen? I do have the voice icon on steering wheel, but dosent work. Not sure if this has been deactivated or I need to get that added. Cheers
Hey Lee, on 2017 A-Class’s there was a voice button on there but it only gave full system commands if you had the option COMAND. This was quite rare as most of them had Garmin Map Pilot. You can give voice commands when you’re on GARMIN (if you have the SD card installed) but only for the Sat Nav. Alternatively if you have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, this also acts as the voice assistant for your phone but you also have to have that option too.
@@npoleary just checked it out again. When I press that human speaking icon it takes me to sat nav screen. I have checked settings and don't have the voice command options in there. So tells me I don't have it, which is very annoying. Nothing worse than on motorway trying to scroll through numbers on screen lol
Try pressing it when you’re on the Navi screen, you can give it commands such as “Go Home” or “Last Destinations”. But you have to say those exact specific phrases. Another tip: If you hold the voice button it should activate the voice assistant on your phone (whatever it might be) iPhones have Siri where as others have I think Hey Google etc
Hi nick I bought a 2021 a class saloon with amg line & night pack just over a month ago , just wondering did u ever come across a wind noise issue on the drivers side door or the rear door ?
@@npoleary hi yes I’m waiting for them to come back to me on it , I’ve seen a few on the aclass forum who have experienced it , there is supposed to be a fix for it on the Mercedes tips system
Hey Abi! Ah I’ve already made a video on the A-Class which is this one that you commented on, I wasn’t planning on making specifically on the A180d 😅 But if you wanted to see the Driving Assistance Package, I’ve covered it here: th-cam.com/video/LEqM2FqUIa8/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps!
Hi Nick, if the opportunity arises, could you include in a future video, some of the items to be aware of when looking for or ordering a new Mercedes? Eg, the different levels of Mbux ( one being able to show nav full screen in the instrument cluster and others not). There seem to be codes in the options list which are hard to decipher. Thanks for the videos 😊
Hey Andrew, I would love to but sadly it varies massively round the world so I don’t tend to go through exact specifics because it will only apply to a select group of people. And if the specs change, the video will then not be relevant. For exact specs it’s best to build one on Mercedes-Benz’s configurator or get in touch with your local Mercedes who can help. In terms of the different versions of MBUX, there are two 🤓 (again correct at the time of writing this). The landscape styled widescreen with the Hey Mercedes voice assistant is MBUX v1 (NTG 6) and the ones with the portrait styled screen v2 (NTG 7). NTG 7 is found in the new C-Class Saloon & Estate, EQE, EQE SUV, EQS, EQS SUV, new GLC, new S-Class & new SL. Full screen navigation on the instrument cluster is available on these as they have faster processors 🤓 There are selected models with the 1st version of MBUX that can do this but it’s not that common, I’ve only seen it a few times. Hope that helps!
It hasn’t changed shape since 2018 🤓 Mercedes models usually last anywhere between 6-7 years however in between model changes, there’s usually a facelift halfway through. So, technically speaking there might be one next year or the year after 🤓
I had my A 200 AMG-line/NP for a year now. The ambient lights still impress me every time I drive it. Purple, green and blue is the best colours IMO. I just read a article online about the face lift coming next year. Probably a good reason to upgrade to the plug in-hybrid. 😊Greetings from Sweden.
Thank you Nick for your superb Mercedes videos. I test drove an A200 AMG Premium 1.332cc petrol 163bhp automatic last week and fell in love with it. I was pleasantly surprised how nippy it was for a small engine. I have since ordered one in Mountain Grey Metallic, hopefully for delivery in June/July. So it will be goodbye to my 67 plate Golf GTI PP DSG 243bhp which in itself a fantastic car with only 14,000 miles on the clock. Keep up the good work Nick.
@@npoleary Yes Nick the automotive industry has taken a massive hit because of the microchip shortage. At least I will have the new registration in September. My wife and I are really excited about the A200
Nick in exactly 9 days I will be the happy owner of an A35, there is the MBUX Innovation Pack which seems to recognize hand movements, I have not found any information on this Pack. Do you have any information on how it works?
Innovation Pack? Hmmm I’m guessing that you’re based in another country? That’s the first time I’ve heard of that package before! It’s doesn’t exist here in the UK. I have heard of hand movements on Mercedes tech before but only very selected models and it has been called the MBUX Interior Assistant. What it does is allow you to highlight things on the screen before your fingers actually touch them which is quite cool. Reaching over to the passenger side will put a light on. And on some specs, hold two fingers in the shape of a V in front of the screen and you can access favourites on the screen.
@@npoleary Thank you Nick for the information, yes I am French. For information, this pack is called "MBUX innovation pack" and contains HUD and the MBUX Interior Assistant. It actually sounds cool to use.
Hi Nick, i have a problem with my a class saloon. The suspension seems to be very stiff in city roads, the ride is very hard and bumpy. Is it normal for this vehicle ? Its a new vehicle just got 3 months ago.
It depends what you mean by firm…if you compare it to an E-Class or S-Class, yes it will be quite firm but compare with it with another similar manufacturer who make hatchbacks and it’s quite smooth. Also depends on the wheel sizes too, larger wheels will have a firmer ride, A35 & A45S’s will have a firmer suspension also tyre pressures too, so you know if they’re correct? I’d imagine they would be if it’s new. Have you spoken to Mercedes? They can always check it out for you 🤓
@@npoleary Thanks for your reply. Definitely not smooth it very hard, compared to my friend’s Yaris suspension which is better than my Mercedes. I have contacted Mercedes 2 weeks ago haven’t heard back from them hope it gets resolved soon. Thanks again, love your videos.
@@npoleary Quick update: Took the car to Mercedes. They kept the car overnight and next day called me saying that there is no problem with the suspension and the hard ride is the characteristic of the car. Not sure what to do now. Can't change the car either as its on lease.
As with most manufacturers of cars they offer loads of models. Mercedes alone offer roughly 35+. Everyone’s requirements for a car are slightly different, wondering if you could speak with Mercedes and see if you have the option to change if it’s not right? Wish I could help but sadly I just make videos on my channel on TH-cam. If you bought from a main dealer, get in touch with them and just explore and see what they can do 🤓
Ah nice! So if I remember to fold the rear seats in the hatchback, it’s behind the rear seatbelts but for the saloon, in the boot at the very top will be two black handles either side: share.icloud.com/photos/0UC6DNBy_rUTRKWyp9qfmi_zw
I do wish someone would know a way to into Coordinates into the A-Class Sat Nav.. Inputting "Angles and Degrees" is so imprecise. I know first hand, I got lost in Guildford today. I ended up using my iPhone to help me:(

Picking up my 21 plate A220d AMG Line Saloon, Premium Line in Digital White next weekend! Looking forward to it as I previously had the last shape A Class A160 AMG Line Premium. Does the 21 plate A220d have Mercedes Me Seat Heating capabilities?
Oh very nice! No you can’t turn them on via the Mercedes me app but you can switch them on / off in the car on the switch and via the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant 🤓 Just Say” Hey Mercedes, turn my heated Seat on” and she’ll do that
I have the A250e and have never had more than 32miles on the battery and in cold days lucky to get 24miles. Do you think there is an issue with my battery?
Hey Charlie, not at all It all comes down to the journeys you are doing. If you drive in the town with lots of start / stop traffic then this can be the reason. Also factor in that if you’re using your heating, this will cause this to happen too. To achieve the best range, you’ll need the ambient temperature outside to be 23°C and be travelling between approx 40mph to 60mph. This is also how the WLTP range is achieved too. Have you seen this video I made? th-cam.com/video/J2GM83dtbes/w-d-xo.html
@@npoleary Ye thats what I thought, we have 2 in the family and the other one is the same. It must be due to the town we live in and quite hilly. Does the back seat air vents have ambient lighting? I have the premium model and notice all other vents light up but the back ones dont
Hey Jake, Unfortunately Active Park Assist hasn’t been available for the past year. This is due to the UN-R 79 regulations that stipulate manufacturers need to have a hands on/hands off sensor before this technology is allowed to be used again. I’m sure Mercedes are working on it for future models but Active Parking Assist is not available on most models available today.
Hey Chunk, no the shape is the same, specs may be different but best to speak with your local dealership for clarification as the specs can vary round the world 🤓
Sadly it was only available as a special edition at the time when I produced the video. Colour code was 662 Think it’s just available on Mercedes-AMG variants now like the A35 & A45 S
Hi again I just got delivered new A Class now and I got amg primium but I think it got a night package on with black trim on windows not chrom but grill is black too not diamonds style is it right Please let me know ow bit worried I got wrong car
Hi Manish, really sorry I wouldn’t be able to advise on here on TH-cam, if you get in touch with your local dealership they can let you know what spec etc you have. The A-Class has had a couple of special editions called Exclusive Edition where they have a couple of blacked out elements which could be what you’re describing.
Hey Mehmet, check out the video 3 minutes in, I cover it there. On the exterior, all it changes is the look on the bumpers, wheels and lights and the interior the seats from white stitching to red stitching.
Hey yournextsmile, Really sorry I wouldn’t know over here in the UK Get in contact with your local Mercedes and I’m sure they’ll clarify for you if it is available and if not something that’s very similar for you 🤓
Great video. I've just bought an AMG-Line premium plus second hand but from a non Mercedes dealer still under three years old so I see I need to go to a Mercedes dealership to get the App linked to the car. Bit annoying that.
Hey Stuart, thank you! Glad you liked the video! Yes that’s right. Some might be able to do it remotely via email but there are several things on there such as unlocking and locking the car and even tracking the car on a map. These features are only for the end user so Mercedes just need to verify the new owner to give you access. Only takes a couple of minutes to do 🤓
Hey Roy, Don’t worry I’ve heard this many times before but rest assured the entry level engines in the compact car range are not just Renault engines, Mercedes and Renault work together to produce a very highly economical, low emission and powerful engine. One of Mercedes-Benz's best sellers at the moment! Mercedes also put their own tech and spin into it and put Formula One technology such as Nanoslide and even cylinder shut-off called CAMTRONIC. None of this is found in the Renault’s engines so no, they are definitely not the same at all. Hope that answers your question!
Great video Nick, can you do a review of the A250e Saloon that was in this video? I have ordered one with Premium Plus and Driver Assistance packs, but its delivery is not due until the end of June.
Hey Darren, Have you seen my A250e video? th-cam.com/video/XnMvX9AbfnE/w-d-xo.html I did this last year and although it’s on the hatchback, everything is the same in the saloon apart from a couple of things involving the shape of the car and the seats. The engines, hybrid power train and specification are all the same so sorry wasn’t planning a dedicated separate video on the saloon as it would be almost identical. Exciting though you have one on order and with the Driving assistance package! Very nice 👍🏼
@@npoleary Thank you for the reply Nick. Understood. It was just that I am getting a polar white premium plus A250e saloon. The one you had briefly in your latest video looked similar, but I am struggling to see it in the flesh because most TH-cam videos are either the hatchback or videos from another country where the wheels are different and do not show the sunroof as not Premium Plus. Thank you for your videos though, I have found a number of them really useful, particularly the MBUX and driver assistance videos.
Yes I know they’re quite rare! The last new one I saw in a showroom was probably over a year ago. They get snapped up quite quickly! I did also make a comparison video between a CLA Coupe and A-Class Saloon if that helps. Glad you like the videos! If I get my hands on one, I’ll try and make one!
Hey Manish, this model shown was a special model called AMG Line Edition. There were only 500 made in the UK which this special paintwork 🤓 Same shape car, just a special kind of one off I believe
Hey Osman, a few spec changes since it’s launch (package designs, what’s standard etc) and you can now also get an Exclusive Edition with larger wheels and a night pack just like this one.
It won’t be! Mercedes-Benz lifecycle is typically 6-7 years with a facelift halfway in the middle somewhere. At lot longer than phones! They seem to be every year 👀
Thanks for another great video Nick 👌I love my 2020 A class AMG line premium and wouldn’t change it for anything else at the moment. Just out of interest any ideas on when you think Mercedes might update the A class again ?
Thanks Mark! I know it’s a great model having owned one myself, I loved it! Wish I still had it! A good question actually so...Mercedes-Benz models and their product life cycle is typically 6-7 years until a new model is unveiled. A lot longer than Smartphones which are every year! With this in mind, the A-Class was launched in 2018 so it’ll be a little while yet but there is normally a facelift halfway along that life cycle. But and this is a big but....in 2030 everything has to be fully electric so this may have changed Mercedes-Benz’s plans! And yes they do work that far ahead!
I have my a250e saloon amg line being delivered next week and I’m really scared as I’ve only ever driven an old KA and an oldish fiat 500 both manual 😬 but I’ve found your videos very informative
@@npoleary everyone says that to me I’ve been driving everyday as a district nurse for 9 years so confident with driving but just the fact it’s a lot bigger and automatic I’m like 😬😬 I’ll get there haha
Great car! And no comparison to the first A-Class. - You could also take the little one with you on a trailer on a trip with the Marco Polo camper. Ideal for going to the bakery. 😎😉
Hi Nick great channel and reviews your detail explanation of the models and features are invaluable really helped me make up my mind between and Audi S3 and A35. On one of your next reviews could u include a slot some of the key features (manually operated features) the can be controlled by the “hey Mercedes” command in MBUX...thanks in advance.
Thanks Pete! Glad you like the videos! What sort of things did you mean by manually operated features? :) You can ask it to do virtually anything on the multimedia screen (topics include Navi, Radio, Media, Tel) and on top of that there’s loads of vehicle functions too! You could always say “Hey Mercedes, what can I ask you?” And she’ll give you a load of things to say 🤓
Hi Nick, really appreciate the prompt reply. I’ve had the A35 prem+ since end of Jan and I am still getting use to it and what the “hey Merecedes” command can operate/control.. For instance I have managed to use the voice command Tom open the roller sun blind don’t don’t seem to be able to get it to open the sun roof itself 🤔 despite several try’s...(any tips on the right command welcomed) so was wondering is it possible to do so and if so what other vehicle functions I can control ie, activating child lock, lower a window etc. At some point I would love for u to do a feature on A35 prem+ so owners like me can maximise features of this model.
Hey Pete, it’s mainly only things on the screen that you can do. For safety reasons you can’t ask it to operate moving parts anymore rather annoyingly... But if you ask it “Hey Mercedes, what can I ask you” she’ll give a whole load of things. Honestly the list is endless much like Siri, Google and Alexa. Hey Mercedes is connected to the internet so things get updated all the time, it’s impossible to know them all 🤓
Nick, quick question for you. I took delivery of the exact same car in this video (A250 Exclusive Edition Plus) and I've noticed that the seat headrests don't have the LED lighting in them like a 'normal' A Class. Is this something you noticed whilst shooting this video, or do you have any knowledge? I've asked my dealer and they only have an Exclusive Edition in stock to check (which does have the lights in the seat headrests). Cheers
Hi Daniel, the A-Class had a specification change late last year where some elements of the inside were changed and I believe this to be one of them. Things like the addition of Mercedes me services in the UK are now standard, removal of a metallic paint option, illuminated door sills were changed too among a couple of other things.
Hey Ace Friends, I don't usually run through the packages in great detail in the videos because specification can change over time so best to speak with your local Mercedes for what's currently included in that package. Currently right now it includes everything from Executive & Premium and: MULTIBEAM LED Panoramic glass sunroof Electrically-adjustable front memory seats Traffic Sign Assist
Yep, a 2018 designed A-Class is still more advanced than the 2020 Golf, A3, and 1 Series, its amazing how far ahead this car was, and still is! It just shows that Mercedes are always that 1 step ahead of the competition
I know! 🤓
Had no idea the A-Class when it launched in 2018 was that far ahead! It’s an amazing car 👌🏼

Hi How is latest 2022 A class in hatchback look like ?

Hey Sublime Comprehension,
MBUX first came out in Summer 2018 in the A-Class and a very weird turn of events filtered through the cars from there.
The S-Class has only just got MBUX (gen 2 with a portrait style screen) earlier this year. I covered it here in my review: th-cam.com/video/zXFAYspuNQY/w-d-xo.html
MBUX gen 1 never made it to the S-Class and prior to this it has always run COMAND

Please do an A Class Premium Plus vs A35 Premium Plus sound system comparison. Can’t decide which one to buy!!
Hey Zac,
I try not to go into too much detail about Premium & Premium Plus Packages etc in the videos because specification can change over time and it's different for each country round the world.
If this is the AMG line why doesnt it have the other steering weel? The AMG one?
AMG line is very similar to other manufactures like BMW’s M Sport or Audi’s S Line range.
AMG Line takes inspiration from the AMG’s but there will always be some things reserved for the ones with the fast engines like the A 35 or A 45 S
Very well spoken 👍
Thanks Eman! 🤓
I have a 2019 A-Class A180d sport executive so it's pretty good in the toy dept. I absolutely love it though If I could I would change it for the saloon version with the premium plus pack, I think the saloon is absolutely gorgeous.

Just today got my new a250e amg pack fully black
Ooo nice! 👀

With the A Class 2019, do you have to apply the handbrake when parked or does it engage and disengage automatically when you park/ switch to Drive?
Hi Nick, I have just got a C220D AMG and I have no idea how the paddle shifters work, any chance of an educational video 🙏🙏
Hi Nick,
I wasn’t planning on making a dedicated video on them as just tapping either one will put it into a temporary manual mode and you quite simply go down a gear or up a gear.
It’ll stay in the temporary manual mode for a maximum of 8-10 seconds depending on accelerator input before going back to auto. But if you hold the right one it will go back to auto straight away.
Hi Nick - does the 2020 (petrol) AMG line (executive) have ambient lights on the dash?
It depends on the spec, I thought it was just Premium Packages that had it but as always it will vary round the world so might be best to chat to Mercedes directly. If you give them a reg of the car they can check for you 🤓
Nick I drive the GLA 2023 and I’m changing again in July I am disappointed with the front tires as go on board I would like the head office in Germany address so I can lodge a complaint I think the car is too heavy for the frontAnd it is causing the ball tires on the front is Mercedes responsible for this problem and is it under guarantee thank you very much Alice Burke

Wow!
Thanks. Geoff
Haha no worries!
Not sure, but if you do go for Premium Plus on the new ones, you’ll get multi-spoke wheels in black 👍🏼 (for UK spec anyway)

Full screen navigation on the instrument cluster is available on these as they have faster processors 🤓
There are selected models with the 1st version of MBUX that can do this but it’s not that common, I’ve only seen it a few times.
Hope that helps!

Do Mercedes come with cigarette ports anymore? I was looking to connect a dash cam and couldn’t install it due to being unable to find.
Hey louisnicholson95,
No, all Mercedes-Benz have USB ports (some USB-C, some the normal style USB port) 🤓
You can connect a dash-cam front and rear with adapter in sliding compartment in front console.

If you bought from a main dealer, get in touch with them and just explore and see what they can do 🤓
Hi Nick, any idea how to lower the back seats on the new mercedes a-class. Just can't seem to find it. Thx
Is that A-Class Saloon or Hatchback? 🤓
@@npoleary saloon i think. The longer version.
I'm sorry its a company car so i have no idea 🤣
I ended up using my iPhone to help me:(
Hey Roland, on MBUX you can input Geo-Coordinates with latitude and longitude. However for more accurate navigation, you can utilise What3Words which I’ve covered here: th-cam.com/video/zMYbD-1dLXI/w-d-xo.html
@@npoleary Thanks Nick. I have been watching so many of your videos this last week it has been most informative. I cannot find [and the garage did not help either] how to input GPS Coordinates [eg.
50.824458, -0.169310] 3 Words is not used by Europeans and all my business colleagues use GPS Coordinates in their address. Is it easy to input GPS data?
Good video that helped me a lot thank you for helping me
No worries! Thanks John! 🤓
No you can’t turn them on via the Mercedes me app but you can switch them on / off in the car on the switch and via the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant 🤓
Just Say” Hey Mercedes, turn my heated Seat on” and she’ll do that
I have the A250e and have never had more than 32miles on the battery and in cold days lucky to get 24miles. Do you think there is an issue with my battery?
Hey Charlie, not at all
It all comes down to the journeys you are doing.
Thanks for the info, this was my first merc and certainly wont be my last as love it.I had the SQ3 before and mercedes beat it hands done for class. Just one other question. Does the back seat air vents have ambient lighting? I have the premium model and notice all other vents light up but the back ones dont
Ah no problem
No sadly ambient light is just for the front passengers (well in the vents anyway)
It can be found in the handles too
@@npoleary cheers Nick
are the ambient lighting standard?
Unfortunately no :(
One of my favourite parts! Usually found on things called Premium Packages in the UK 🤓
Does all Mercedes A-Class come with interior lighting?
Hey schlorgh fal,
No in the UK it’s commonly found as an extra on the Premium Package 🤓
Hi Nick, beautiful car looks nice 👍, thanks for another vlog
No problem! 🤓
Had my brand new A Class AMG line and it’s beautiful, so gorgeous and amazing to drive! but my parallel park assist doesn’t work! Any advice?!? Thanks
Hey Jake,
Unfortunately Active Park Assist hasn’t been available for the past year. This is due to the UN-R 79 regulations that stipulate manufacturers need to have a hands on/hands off sensor before this technology is allowed to be used again.
I’m sure Mercedes are working on it for future models but Active Parking Assist is not available on most models available today.
@@npoleary thanks for clarifying Nick - need to sort that out directly with Mercedes dealership unfortunately
Are there any design differences between the 2020 AMG A200 and the 2021?
Hey Chunk, no the shape is the same, specs may be different but best to speak with your local dealership for clarification as the specs can vary round the world 🤓
@@npoleary thanks Nick
What colour code is the car in the video? Or colour? I ordered an iridium silver something
Sadly it was only available as a special edition at the time when I produced the video.
Colour code was 662
Think it’s just available on Mercedes-AMG variants now like the A35 & A45 S
Hi again I just got delivered new A Class now and I got amg primium but I think it got a night package on with black trim on windows not chrom but grill is black too not diamonds style is it right Please let me know ow bit worried I got wrong car
Hi Manish, really sorry I wouldn’t be able to advise on here on TH-cam, if you get in touch with your local dealership they can let you know what spec etc you have.
The A-Class has had a couple of special editions called Exclusive Edition where they have a couple of blacked out elements which could be what you’re describing.
@@npoleary thanks I will ask them sure and its primium cause I have 2 display 10 inch
I’m looking for A-class but I’m not sure SE, sport or AMG? Could you please make a comparison video which one should I get? Thanks!
Hey Mehmet, check out the video 3 minutes in, I cover it there.
On the exterior, all it changes is the look on the bumpers, wheels and lights and the interior the seats from white stitching to red stitching.
@@npoleary thank you very much! 👍
AMG-line together with the night package. Looks great.
Is the hatchback model available in the US?
Hey yournextsmile,
Really sorry I wouldn’t know over here in the UK
Get in contact with your local Mercedes and I’m sure they’ll clarify for you if it is available and if not something that’s very similar for you 🤓
@@npoleary Okay thank you Nick, I will contact them
Great video.
Only takes a couple of minutes to do 🤓
@@npoleary OK, thanks for reply. I’ll give them a ring Monday
Hey Nick
I heard that the A class engine is produce by Renault is this correct ?
Hey Roy,
Don’t worry I’ve heard this many times before but rest assured the entry level engines in the compact car range are not just Renault engines, Mercedes and Renault work together to produce a very highly economical, low emission and powerful engine.
2 litre petrol & diesel options are 100 % Mercedes built engines on the a class
Great video Nick, can you do a review of the A250e Saloon that was in this video? I have ordered one with Premium Plus and Driver Assistance packs, but its delivery is not due until the end of June.
Hey Darren,
Have you seen my A250e video?
th-cam.com/video/XnMvX9AbfnE/w-d-xo.html
I did this last year and although it’s on the hatchback, everything is the same in the saloon apart from a couple of things involving the shape of the car and the seats.
Hi how come you got electronic seat I have ordered amg primium and they don't have that
Hey Manish, this model shown was a special model called AMG Line Edition. There were only 500 made in the UK which this special paintwork 🤓
Same shape car, just a special kind of one off I believe
@@npoleary oh its looks great
What new changes has there come from 2018 till now on this model.?
Hey Osman, a few spec changes since it’s launch (package designs, what’s standard etc) and you can now also get an Exclusive Edition with larger wheels and a night pack just like this one.
@@npoleary Allright thanks for the information, that is not much for 3 years :-D
It won’t be! Mercedes-Benz lifecycle is typically 6-7 years with a facelift halfway in the middle somewhere. At lot longer than phones! They seem to be every year 👀
Can I still plug in USB stick (USB-A) to listen to music like older models?
You can, but you’ll just need a dongle if the car has USB-C ports 👍🏼
bit.ly/USB-CAdapter
@@npoleary Thanks for the reply Nick - and congratulations on the 15K subscribers btw 👏🥂
No problem! And thank you! I saw that this morning and was like whoa.....🥳🥳
Speechless....
How did you open the bonnet
For the A-Class? Next to the accelerator pedal 🤓 to the right (for right hand drive cars)
I can’t see anywhere on the website a version that has the black alloys!! I want them! I may treat myself soon!
Hey George, ah this model was a special edition for a short while 🤓
Think the spec has gone back to what it was before now
@@npoleary 😭
What colour is the one your showing us please?
designo mountain grey magno
It’s an awesome colour 🤓
How do you get the matte colour? I’m confused bro
It’s called Designo Mountain Grey Magno
There were a couple of special edition models that had this option but now it’s primarily found on AMG models.
I’d buy a MB just because of you 😍
I have my a250e saloon amg line being delivered next week and I’m really scared as I’ve only ever driven an old KA and an oldish fiat 500 both manual 😬 but I’ve found your videos very informative
Ah thanks Amelia! You’ll be alright! Once you’ve had an automatic, you’ll wonder why you ever had a manual!
It’s super easy!
@@npoleary everyone says that to me I’ve been driving everyday as a district nurse for 9 years so confident with driving but just the fact it’s a lot bigger and automatic I’m like 😬😬 I’ll get there haha
The steering-column shifter is the best part. You never have to look down and take your eyes of the road. I love it.
Great car! And no comparison to the first A-Class. - You could also take the little one with you on a trailer on a trip with the Marco Polo camper. Ideal for going to the bakery. 😎😉
Very nice! I’ll get myself a Belgian Bun, haven’t had one of those in while! 🤤
You can ask it to do virtually anything on the multimedia screen (topics include Navi, Radio, Media, Tel) and on top of that there’s loads of vehicle functions too!
Hey Mercedes is connected to the internet so things get updated all the time, it’s impossible to know them all 🤓
Thanks again nick I will try the “Hey Mercedes, what can I ask you” 👍🏾
Nick, quick question for you.
What would get in a premium plus
Hey Ace Friends,
I don't usually run through the packages in great detail in the videos because specification can change over time so best to speak with your local Mercedes for what's currently included in that package.
Currently right now it includes everything from Executive & Premium and:
MULTIBEAM LED
Panoramic glass sunroof
Electrically-adjustable front memory seats
Traffic Sign Assist
