  • What a beautiful day in the PNW to ride another 100 miles! This is my third century ride in three weeks on a fixed gear bike and I've never done anything like this. It may not be that impressive to ultra endurance athletes, but I am pretty proud of myself that I am able to do this. Ride 100 miles, pedal 100 miles, no coasting! At first when I woke up, all signs pointed to stay home. I woke up slightly dehydrated. I was having issues with my new rim tape not sticking to the rim, possibly causing a puncture. My Garmin watch said to spend the day recovering since I had only slept for three hours but I was too stoked to do that. Doing this ride was something I looked forward to all week. If you feel good enough to go out for a ride, then do it, even if your wearable technology tells you otherwise. You don't always have to hustle - you can just enjoy the ride like I did.
I adventured over to Hagg Lake, Oregon and it was very beautiful there. Some of the climbs were pretty tough, but with a gear ratio of 46/17 it was pretty manageable. Spinning is winning! I don't have any new additions on my Golden Cycles fixed gear bike but I did lower the tire pressure slightly from 85psi to 80psi all around and it felt a little more comfortable... maybe even faster since this was my fastest century ride out of the three. Or I could just be getting stronger?

That "extra motivation" I gave that roadie at the end of the video worked! It looked like he was suffering, but so was I considering that was mile 98/100. I did a short but solid effort sprint and passed him from 18mph to 30mph. I slowed down to 23mph to turn right at an intersection and he got off the saddle and sprinted like hell right passed me! Kudos to you my dude haha.
Also, during exporting, the audio and video synced kinda weird, so you'll notice that a little towards the end when my lips are moving. That really bothers me.
If any cycling creators have any wireless microphone recommendations, I'd love to hear them! I would like to take full advantage of the bike mount (handlebar/frame) but having a cable dangle around seems dangerous, so the mic just stays on my chest mount.
