    I just got back from a rough session with the driver at the range and this video was on the opening page when I came to TH-cam. This addresses exactly what I was doing and that I couldn't figure out. I'm eager to get back tomorrow to work on it. An instructor from years ago would say to hit into a firm left side, almost feeling as if the back were to the target. One of the many things that get forgotten. This lit the lightbulb today. Thanks!

    I have suffered from this for 30 years. A swing practice I use to start the downswing is from the top, pull down your arms only, keeping the rest of your body quite. Feel like your pulling down on a rope to ring a bell while the rest of your body stays still. Keep your hands quite while you do this, only move the arms down into the ground. It has really helped my swing and stops me over rotating.

    Hi Christina. Wow over 100 thousand views on this video alone. Congratulations on your repeated success on You Tube.
    This video nicely stated and showing us not to over rotate our upper body starting our down swing first with our trail arm and shoulder..Early extension and OTT here we come; for certain.
    As you said in your most recent video we need to get out of the gate with our obliques crunching and turning first. Our shoulders arms hands and club will then be allowed to lag behind through post impact to our ball; and as you know we will feel this happening from the very start of our downswing. Cheers

    I've never heard it explained this way. It makes so much more sense. I have touched on this feeling in the past. I always seem to stay just on the edge of correct form. My swing speed fluctuates between 105 and 118 and I can't (couldn't before the video maybe?!) figure out why. Lately I have been suffering from some serious lower back pain on my right side. I think this may be why. After a week or so off, I can't wait to try this drill. Hopefully I get my 300 yarders back!!

  • @davebarber9332
    @davebarber9332 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Finally someone who doesn’t tell people to keep turning the chest through impact like practically every instruction on the internet. The weight shift to lead side at transition drops the club and arms and stores the power. Then the feeling of stalling out transfers the power through the hands to the club and ball creating the speed. The chest will turn but only after club accelerates and pulls trunk round and through. Not only does this help speed but adds extension.

    Hey Christina! I watched this video and tried it on the course - previously with my driver I just kept on hitting fades and slices and now I can hit a soft draw as keeping the chest pointing back means I don't swipe at the ball. Hate losing distance with a slice - this video really helped me. 🥰

    Guilty as charged! This (the X factor) is something I have started to do, its a separation of above-the-waist / below-the-waist. But I like this drill a lot because it accentuates the feeling of where the chest needs to be at or near impact. Thanks coach!

    great swing observation. we hear so much about rotation but you can over do it-especially w/ the upper body. the arms have to let fly. been working on re-sequencing my swing so arms start down once I have loaded on my trail leg (before my hips and shoulders clear.) I know it’s working when i can hit a soft draw. it’s not working when I flair one to the right.

    I think this might be the game changer for me. Going to try it out at the range tonight. My issue been is that I’m early releasing and putting too much loft on the ball. After trying this tip at home with foam balls it looked to delay the release a bit but definitely generated more power. Will see what the real balls tell. I’m really hopeful.

    Just back from the range....wow....thank you...now I'm "hitting" the ball..... ie. smash factor is up....BUT..... i'm tending to draw too easily...prob not shifting my weight......more fine tuning needed...but thank you again.

  • @tomeldridge2915
    @tomeldridge2915 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is one way to do it. And it works beautifully. The problem is it isn’t the only way to achieve solid golf shots. Much modern teaching has the chest open at impact, or covering the ball. Unfortunately most instructors teach their own swing and one size does not fit all. The best teachers can watch a students swings and make a determination what swing fits best for their flexibility, athleticism, age, body type etc. Readers will watch videos and try to as do you say and if it does not work may throw in the towel. When if fact there is another way to swing the club. This is not an indictment on you personally. It is a TH-cam phenomena.

    This will probably help some people who over-rotate the upper body. You can play well with this swing, but it takes a great deal of timing because your club face is closing very quickly. This is what is known as a 'jump-stall' swing. Better way is to start with you left hip/weight landing forward toward the target and then start rotating. Thinking of your arms as ropes, being pulled via the rotation of the hips/then torso/shoulders. Tour pros don't stop rotating, the rotate ALOT with the arms/hands passively following. Lastly, if you look like this from golf, you should be a bodybuilder, you're jacked, bravo!
