    Brilliant video and finally I know what it means not to turn shoulders only hips through impact keeping shoulders mostly square whilst keeping buttons on shirt behind your belt buckle through impact. Well done.

    Chris, I see all of the comments complaining about your delivery and length of explanation. We’re in a world where we watch ‘instructional’ videos with the teacher telling the viewer not to get into the nitty gritty of the me mechanics.
    Personally I look for instructional videos with lengthy explanations of the technical aspects of the swing. Remember, most of these commenters would EAT up these explanations if they were done in person.

      Thank you Luke! I have to continue to remind myself that there are many people just like you that want to have as much of an understanding as possible. It really does help with the entire learning process and generally the commitment level is higher from those that have everything buttoned up in their brain before taking on a new movement pattern.

    Russell Heritage suffered from talking way too much in his early videos....he addressed this in a video and he made his videos shorter. Time stamps are vital for the social media generation. I'm guilty of having a low attention span but because it's golf, I want to hear what Chris has to say. It's not for everyone.
    Plus the info is free. I'm not complainig.

    Great Content, easy to follow drill. The thought of moving the body fast is just wrong. Shoulders square and hands moving fast is the real golf swing.

    I’ve been working on this for about a week now and it has really helped me to stop trying to muscle the ball. This creates almost a slingshot effect. Yesterday, my irons kept flying the greens because I was a club longer. Straighter too.

    I am a fan of your content; I just don't jive with the delivery. Too short of an attention span on my part. Reminds me too much of some of the lectures I sat through in college. One of your videos taught me the proper way to create lag and when to release the club, increased my distance easily by 1 club to 1-1/2 clubs. I don't swing a club now without referencing those tips in my mind.

    Thanks for this thorough explanation Chris!
    For years my instructor has been telling me that my shoulder turn is too much in relation to my hip turn at impact. He stressed getting my hips turning faster rather than slowing down my arms, but this shows me that the real problem has not been keeping my shoulders square (buttons behind the belt buckle) and letting my trail shoulder come under rather than around as a byproduct of the swing sequence.

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  ปีที่แล้ว

    After many years and thousands of videos plus some professional lessons, you sir have described the golf swing in a way that made me finally get it! I started with the drill where you just show how the left hand works. I'm just now realizing that I'm driving my right shoulder and my shoulders are open at impact. This did 3 things to me: 1. Everything pulled left. 2. I lost a ton of speed and distance. 3. I could never understand how anyone could have straight arms after impact. I always bent my left arm. I'm so excited. Thanks. Great videos!!!!

    I'm reading these comments about the video being too long....these are the real hackers out there that are hard to watch at the range. You all want some quick fix or a drill to make you better and you don't understand that the secret to the golf swing is UNDERSTANDING it. This guy is trying to help you understand what the hell is going on in the swing and its brilliant. When I learned about the braking action of the body I started hitting 150 yd 9 irons with very little effort..and I'm 58 years old. I attempt to teach golf myself and it's really frustrating how people want to golf at a high level but they don't want to learn at a high level. They're like the people who want to be great at guitar but they don't want to be bothered with scales or theory. If you don't want to learn the golf swing you might want to take up badminton or something. Thanks for the video dude. Really reinforced what I've been working on!

    Chris I saw some later videos but decided to start here but I have one major issue and I get very little distance with all my clubs . I cannot straighten my lead left arm, my elbow wont let me due a a bike crash before I took up golf. I would say from straight i have about a 30 degree bend. Would this technique help me gain distance as my right arm is fine , i have also just changed to a baseball grip from interlock to try and help distance. Hope you can help I feel like giving it all up after 25 years of hacking around the course.

    • @MyGolfDNA
      @MyGolfDNA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! This approach will definitely help you out. We've seen some pretty great golfers have a slight bend in the lead arm at impact. Obviously, I would stay clear of teaching that to students BUT in your case, since you have limitations, we would accept it and work to find your speed with videos like this one part 2 where I talk about using the trail arm for speed th-cam.com/video/lod_hatkYcA/w-d-xo.html
      I would work on video 1 and 2 together and then really make sure you are driving the swing from the lower half. We would also want to make sure you're using all of the leverage that you can through lag and bits of ground force. Check out part 2 and give it a go and let me know if you have any further questions at all. Hope that helps.
