    My favourite Antoine piec.
    He's so technical but still manages to be breathtakingly emotional, and that's really rare.

    Learning to play this is one challenge in itself. Writing it on the other hand... Thats a whole new world.
    I consider myself to be a fairly talented musician, but I don't ever picture a time where I will be able to write something so intricate with all those nuances.

    A powerful statement for a powerful song/musician.
    Dear Antoine, if you ever feel down or just having a bad day, let this remind you how important your music is to people. Everytime I come home from a shitty day at work, stressed out, or just feeling down, your music relaxes me and brings me back up to par on emotions.
    Bravo man.

    @SwampDog1957 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    You shouldn't feel bad. I've been playing for 42 years and it still takes a lot of effort to produce the desired sound and mood.
    The solution is much practice to develope "muscle memory" and work on developing your technique and timing. Finding the right notes, though not always easy, is the easy part.
    If it's in your heart, you'll do it.

    Antoine Dufour is the reason I push myself so hard to excel at guitar. Sure, there will always be somebody better than me, but just sitting on my back porch tapping away while I stare at the pond really makes me feel home, content, and warm all at once. It singlehandedly helped my depression vanish. I only hope that one day I can make it look as easy and natural as he does. I owe him!

    The versatility of the acoustic guitar is what makes it one of the greatest instruments of our time. The way the candyrat artists can play melody while simultaneously striking out a percussive rhythm is beautiful, whether it's the way McKee hits the guitar body or the way Dufour was using the muted strikes of the low E string. These pieces are so amazing because every single audible noise coming from the instrument is there by design, it's part of the composition. You don't get that out of tabs.

    Much of it comes from a good musical education I think. I have a lot of faith in the music education in our universities. Mr. Dufour went though a classical guitar degree program. They teach you all the necessary music theory and technique necessary. So, with some talent, of which Mr. Dufour has an astounding amount of, you can make some wonderful stuff that you couldn't have done without the education.

    Brilliant. I finally caught a pattern he has throughout many of his songs. A lot of his tunings are like this. The bottom string is tuned to the name key as the main part of his song , and the top 4 strings are tuned in the same key but a different scale all the time. That way he can change scales at the bottom with easy while still harmonizing with the top open strings. His use of downward strikes with the fingernails sporadically at 2:12 show that.
