Amazing song, though this recording seems to include an octave pedal, the bass line is brilliant but is a little suppressed by the pedal that seems to get confused on what to apply the octave to sometimes. Love the music anyway.
Man, your writing style is impeccable. Do you have any advice when trying to get into this style of music for writing? Been mainly a jazz/prog player and finger tapping style guy my whole life, but I really want to expand into this territory but I'm just not used to it. Any tips?
such a humble guy, i remember when i first saw him on youtube playing jerrys breakdown and was amazed by his skills, and he has undeniable talent when it comes to composing a tune as well
Oh man, you're such an inspiration Antoine. I don't even know how many times I have listened to your songs. Drive within is just a spiritual experience for me, every time. Cheers.
I was in the studio laying tracks and while on break the studio engineer played "Spiritual Groove" and introduced me to your music Antoine. I have to say that "These Moments" has to be my absolute favorite piece ever! Masterful, beautiful and inspiring! Thank you!
been watching this guy for some time now probably for as long as ive been playing guitar i really learned alot and pulled alot from the way he plays and the rhythms he creates thank you Antoine!! please keep progressing!!
OMG! Wow,wow, WOW!! you sir,are the most impressive, intelligent, and amazing human being I've ever witnessed! You are like.....a meaningful magical musician ! When you play those guitar notes flow like magic! Really! You are miraculous and magical! You have the greatest and most astounding gift I've eve rseenand heard! It's breathtaking Nanci San Diego CA
I like all kinds of music but am primarily a rock/ old school metal kind of person. Yet, I think Antione may be my favorite guitarist. His technique never fails to blow my mind and more importantly, I love his songs. Keep doing what you do because it’s working. Thank you for the beautiful music!
Awesome performer and probably my top 5 favorite guitarists, but after meeting him after the show the impression he gave me was cocky and arrogant. He was nice in this video though.
@@musicaldrops I had a Skype lesson a few years ago with him and he was very humble and silly. Might've just been an off night for him when you met him. Ewan Dobson was super chill as well; we ended up going almost two hours over the allotted time window because he was enjoying just chatting.
"These Moments" is 1 of my favorite songs from Antoine. I like this video a lot because it explains so much. I tried the strings actually and they're very bright & project well; however, I don't like the squeak I get from the strings as I move my hands often.
The take aways are really important. He has a clear map of the instrument, both dynamically and rhythmically. He thinks in terms of specific parts on the body of the guitar for different percussion elements. And of course that he works up the arrangements and the speed of the piece...sometimes over weeks. He's brilliant. He is basically creating guitar music that would be like a mini orchestra, even more adventurous than piano...because piano doesn't have the "drum" sounds available.
More great videos like this with Antoine! Both he and his playing are an inspiration for an aspiration. Great playing as always, any chance on doing a video like this with En T'Attedendant?
Yeah steve howe! Love hearing Antoine talk about being influenced by Yes! My all time favorite. I hope Steve Howe has come across your music Antoine, he would be a big fan!
Basically the small section of string between the nut and the pegs can create overtones that bother him. He puts the bandanna in there to mute those overtones. Hope that makes sense!
Well its a perfect example what fingerstyle guitar music should be. The technics helps to create creative melody. Just enough percussion stuff, and fantastic right hand strumming technics, harmonics... everything is perfectly balanced in the song, and a beautiful melody stays in your ears. What else do you want??
Hmm , but if he said that he thought he was a fantastic guitarist, people would say he has a massive ego :P so i guess you can't win either way. but i get what you are saying , watching him would make most guitarist wanna give up hehe.
It's the recording, it's not very good. As others have stated there appears to be an octave pedal being used here for the bass frequencies which at times the pedal gets confused as to what note to pitch shift. Andy Mckee's ErnieBall set me up has the same problem.
+Karol Kappa You can get away with 2 semitones up fairly ok. Three semitones up is pushing it a bit. If you keep switching between tunings though (such as this tuning and standard tuning) then it's pretty likely to break.
If you want to try tunings such as this one, try the ernie ball aluminum bronze. Doesnt have to be heavy gauge either, I have the regulars and tune the 5th string from G all the way up to C almost every day and they still last months. Not only that, theyre very inexpensive. I was paying 16 usd for elixers that only lasted a couple months MAX, wheras the set of aluminum bronze using now is going on 4 months and theyre about 8 bucks a set.
No it’s an SJ, that one was custom built for him so the serial number is AD-01, only one ever made like that one. I know this cause it’s right beside me in the case right now 😂
It's so frustrating watching these Ernie Ball "Set Me Up" videos. They intersperse the interview with the performance. Taking away from both. Trying to listen to the guitar then you have interview, try to listen to interview, pops back to guitar, try to listen to guitar..... Ect... Ect... Ect... Thumbs down.
Wow! It turned out so good! I'm surprised!
Amazing song, though this recording seems to include an octave pedal, the bass line is brilliant but is a little suppressed by the pedal that seems to get confused on what to apply the octave to sometimes. Love the music anyway.
Really inspiring as always =) it's fun to know we share the same approach.
Gotta learn this song!
Grandy Yeah, I don't know, it sounds like octave pedal they put on it. Well, it's ok.
Antoine Dufour "I don't know all my skills." you liar..
Man, your writing style is impeccable. Do you have any advice when trying to get into this style of music for writing? Been mainly a jazz/prog player and finger tapping style guy my whole life, but I really want to expand into this territory but I'm just not used to it. Any tips?
It's worth remembering that underneath all the technique, image and belief lies a normal human being simply enjoying their passion.
such a humble guy, i remember when i first saw him on youtube playing jerrys breakdown and was amazed by his skills, and he has undeniable talent when it comes to composing a tune as well
Antoine is so humble and just SO GOOD. I love this talent.
One of my favorite acoustic guitarists.
I met Mr. DuFour after one of his concerts in Ocala, Florida. He is as polite and nice as he is talented.
I just wanted to say thank you. you inspired me so much!
I quit!! I was lucky enough to see Antoine, Andy, Don and Erick on the first candyrat tour. That was one hell of a line-up!!
Just incredible. Totally incredible.
Antoine is a phenomenal guitar player.

Excellent interview Antoine! Very inspirational! The video turned out very well!
You know that guy is set for life. Great guitar playing!

Antoine, you seem like such a down to earth and kind man! Love your music, your a big inspiration for a young fingerstyle player like myself!
Very nice Antoine, almost a whole workshop ;-)
You are one of our favorites here in Michigan...hope to see you again soon.
Brilliant person!

Beautiful sound, breathtaking melody, Talent////
Hard piece, spent 2 months to learn it, but it was so worth it, cause it's just amazing! thank you Antoine for making it!!

Very humble and modest which is quite usual for a fucking Genius.

what an amazing talent
Amazing, I'm so speechless...
A magical brilliant mind, a music genius, and so humble from the heart. What a good man you are. I thank Allah for creating people like you.
Amazing as always!
Me who been tying for last few days to just warp my heading around learnign this as i am. This video really helps
love this guy

Such a wonderful Guittarist.
Love your sound man! Existence was excellent!!!

I like You, Antoine Dufour.

Cool stuff!
Great job thank you
Favorite.
いつみても、magician.
Love it :)

He's Soo So good. Marvel at the freestyle players. Don Ross got them Goin.
This song is like drilling my head hahah but its soo nice
glad to see someone putting effort into their music..takes weeks to write sometimes?? thats a true musician
я тебя люблю ПРИЕЗЖАЙ В ЛУГАНСК!!!
what about the fretboard? did you cusomized like that or this is a Beauregard style? i mean 12 fret on the neck not 14?
wow
Bom Dia Qual a Afinação que você usa no violão.
Could someone explain me with more precision the deal with the bandanan like why exactly, how to set it etc... thks !
Basically the small section of string between the nut and the pegs can create overtones that bother him. He puts the bandanna in there to mute those overtones. Hope that makes sense!
It does, thanks a bunch ^^
The coolness factor is just an added bonus. :-)

If he doesn't consider himself a guitarist I give up
its frustrating to hear that..isn't it? :D
Hmm , but if he said that he thought he was a fantastic guitarist, people would say he has a massive ego :P so i guess you can't win either way. but i get what you are saying , watching him would make most guitarist wanna give up hehe.
que marca de guitarra esta usando.. !? es elctroacustica.. !!?
Does he uses amp in this video?
Dat tone...
The c# string isn't as responsive to Antoine in this take. Dunno if it's Ernieball.
It's the recording, it's not very good. As others have stated there appears to be an octave pedal being used here for the bass frequencies which at times the pedal gets confused as to what note to pitch shift. Andy Mckee's ErnieBall set me up has the same problem.
tune?
How da heck he's tuning is C# G# E3 F# B D#
Why string D don't break?
+Karol Kappa You can get away with 2 semitones up fairly ok. Three semitones up is pushing it a bit. If you keep switching between tunings though (such as this tuning and standard tuning) then it's pretty likely to break.

what's that guitar?
I think its a Beauregard OM
No it’s an SJ, that one was custom built for him so the serial number is AD-01, only one ever made like that one. I know this cause it’s right beside me in the case right now 😂
Dees nutz!
You should fire whoever set the compressor settings on this.
funny that he didnt mention the strings he uses :P
You literally see him pick them at the start
You're too humble my brother.
Simple
hurt index finger in these moment
Yatsunori Ono lol same
The goal is to creating chord when you're playing strings. It also create the scale you're gonna use (chord=scale)
I create new songs from antoines tunings.....come listen....rockin Antione.....
Think he's got T. Emmanuel beat on the percussion stuff.
that right hand thump percussion looks so painfull .. lol
Should've done the interview and performance separately.
damn right
Eh he's got enough isolated performance videos. I thought this was a nice change of pace
My guitar doesn't do that.
Not very good with english, can some one write the tunning?
It's so frustrating watching these Ernie Ball "Set Me Up" videos. They intersperse the interview with the performance. Taking away from both. Trying to listen to the guitar then you have interview, try to listen to interview, pops back to guitar, try to listen to guitar..... Ect... Ect... Ect... Thumbs down.
It's blended on purpose; that's the thing. You can go watch an interview or a performance somewhere else... this is both. He talks and walks.
