I recently purchased Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D for the PS 5. While the game does have some weaknesses, including amount of gold earned cut back from the previous versions, frequent battles and grinding (which is expected for DQ games), and water and air transportation being slow, it has a lot of strengths. These strengths include new Monster Wrangler job; new abilities for Warrior, Merchant, and Martial Artist; new monster arena battles; new bosses; secret and stash areas; and regional dialects based on town, nation, and geographical location. Some of these regional dialects include Spanish and Scottish for the Aliahan area, Italian for Romaria; Russian and Ukrainian for Khoryv and Mur; Norwegian for Narvik; Egyptian and Arabic for Isis and Assam; Portuguese and Spanish for Portoga; Sanskrit for Baharata; Japanese for Jipang; English for Edina; Australian English for Lanson; Southern American English for Persistence; and Brazilian Portuguese for Manoza.
I've never played Dragon Quest but my friend is playing the new one right now and loves the series. Is this old Dragon Quest 3 any good? Is it worth getting the Remake? It looks like my kinda game aka Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 👍
My only issue is that Im not very imaginative person , i hate it on earth bound and smt games despite how good those games are i enjoyed played them .still i hate first person pov. Its not 1980s , i can see if its an indie dev but big Boy like square enix don't have any reason not to include the 3rd person pov to me its just lazy.
I agree, I really love the Octopath games because you can see all the characters during battle. I have no idea why this is first person in battles. Looks weird and made me not buy it.
It's not for you then, it's for Dragon Quest fans. It's been this way across every release of this game. Go play Final Fantasy or Persona or whatever if need to see your characters jumping around.
@ficamnuzone7052 Moreso than you clearly. The NES/Famicom, Super Famicom, Game Boy Color, and Mobile/Switch versions of Dragon Quest 3 all have the same combat view. No point in changing what has worked just fine to try and appeal to people who weren't going to play it to begin with.
This should have been an instant buy for me if it didn’t have the incredibly jarring first person combat view. It looks terrible. Even if it was just the same view as when selecting the attacks with the slashes etc appearing, would have been much better. Waiting for a big sale discount
This was going to be a day one buy for me but the random encounters are a big negative for me. Probably my biggest pet peeve from older rpgs. They should have done the DQ11 method where you can choose when to fight and when not to.
@@LegacyRap7777 well I appreciate your opinion. The golden way would be a simple setting in the options and everyone would be happy. I absolutely hate the frequency of how much these battles appear. After six hours I got absolutely fed up with the relentless spamming like those darn TH-cam commercials that you can't skip. Two minutes of exploration in 30 minutes of gaming is just too big a hunk out of my time.
Its frickin awesome. I am loving it. :D Switch has fps drops in towns which is a pity but other than that its great. Not too much handholding too which I love, Keeping those quest markers turned off and enjoying getting immersed in this world.
The game is way too easy even on Draconian Quest mode apparently being the "hard" mode. They shouldn't have made the change where party members get fully healed on level up, game is trivial now regardless of difficulty setting.
Every rpg from that time is grind heavy never saw it as a problem and high rate of random encounters makes sense in a world full of monsters just makes it more of a challenge
Make an options setting that can turn the random encounter frequency from every two seconds to never😊
So excited for the easy mode!!

Yeah
I’m never.

Wait did Square Enix make this game? The SAME company that made Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced?
Check your time zone. I'll be able to play it at 9pm tonight!
I love the pov. Brings me back to the good old days😃

I really wish they included an exp boost so you could replicate the balance of the OG NA version.

Nope, a remake should be true it it's source material, greatest JRPG'S of all time have this battle system, your loss.
@ not really, I’ll end up getting it just when it goes on sale
No @@LegacyRap7777 our loss. Then we did it because games were limited. Now, there is no sane person that should go through that abuse
@@WankenZeFurious not a loss at all, it's the nostalgic pain in the ass grind format I grew up with, wouldn't want it any other way.

So we can’t see characters when they attack !? It s a very bad thing for me 🤦🏻♂️ no options to change for this problem ?
So it's not a permanent 3rd person toggle? Yeah a big miss on that

They need to remake ffvi like this game, you know it’s true
