I love the Horizon series so much that I’ve purchased this upgrade on both PC and PS5 and plan to finish it on PC in the week before the Pro comes out and finish it again on there. Looks amazing. Thanks for the video.

If I'm honest, the 2017 game looks already better than some games released nowadays. But then again, it's a PlayStation studio or only at first. There is probably lots of money behind the development. But this game still looked quite sick. I launched it the day before release of remaster and was still kinda mind boggled how good it held up. No. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is how you remaster games. 25+ year old games that are not accessible on modern consoles. Not a 7 year old games that still looks great and is accessible and can run fine on PS5 via backwards compatibility with a literal PS5 patch.
I don’t think anyone said that this was a bad upgrade, just not a needed one since it already looks beautiful on the ps4 and has the ps5 patch. Games like days gone and assassin creeds unity that didn’t perform well due to the hardware limitations needs a ps5 remaster more than anything but that’s just my food for thought
This might be the first PS4 to PS5 remaster where the difference is actually very noticeable and a marked improvement. Certainly looks like it's worth 10 bucks if you haven't played the original in a while.
@Cthulhu8762 Last of Us Part 1 is a PS3 game, so the jump for that one is less impressive. Plus that was a full price game, even if you owned the original and the PS4 remaster.

This upgrade is a graphical improvement across the board which is great, but I do feel like some of Zero Dawn’s unique artstyle was not properly translated into the PS5 version. The comparison at 2:17 is the most glaring example. It’s really cool that they improved the visuals and the NPC interactions, but I’m gonna stick to the original, especially because it has 60 fps anyway now.
I was wondering about that. I mean, it's a completely different time of day so I feel like we need a better comparison. Especially since, I believe?, you can select the time of day by resting somewhere. For that scene specifically they should have lined up the weather and sunset because otherwise it looks completely different and I do love me a good Horizon sunset.
Started playing today and I’m having a great time. The upgrade is definitely substantial as someone who did 100% the game and remember how it looked, pariticularly the colors and the huge amount of detail on the environments and character models. It’s my second time playing it since it came out and it’s a great game to finally revisit, then I’ll finally check out the sequel which I still haven’t.
lol there is NO WAY you're showing me a 30fps version and want me to believe it shows better than a 60fps version , no matter the -not so big - differences in resolutions. 60fps ALWAYS.
I thought I was going crazy reading some of these comments, my brain was straight away thinking the PS4 looked better. xD They should do a comparison of the PC versions, that would be truly interesting.
I would have preferred 150+ fps and the PC version, but this video isn't about that. Framerate aside, this is about comparing the graphics between the versions, not how well it plays at higher framerates. You can tell this by the fact there isn't a moment in it that features combat.
This comparison definitely should match time of day a lot better if possible. Other than that it's obvious I will never touch the original again. Just an absurdly huge update to the visuals and sound.
So I love the additional detail in the foliage and particle effects in the remaster, but I love and miss the stylized lighting in the original because it was such a strong art direction: it reminded me of James Gurney's paintings for Dinotopia. The original leans more heavily into the fantasy elements of an almost alien Earth. This is most apparent at 3:39 when they're showcasing Meridian. The remaster is a little hard to read visually, however, I can clearly see the paths and corridors in the original due to the colored fog and lightening up of the environment. It also imbues the setting with a bit of wonder and curiosity for this huge city that Aloy/the player has only heard rumors about. This creates a juxtaposition against the corruption and horrible history that bleed within the city's walls. If this was meant to be a gritty game like bloodborne or tlou, it would make more sense to follow a more accurate/darker toned lighting style. So it is unfortunate that some of that art direction got a little lost in translation. Despite this, it is an excellent remaster and I'm excited to see all the new mocap animations be brought into the conversations because I loved the amount of life everyone had in the dlc and sequel.
I think they did a masterful job. The Earth of HZD looks like I would expect after a world apocalypse. The forests and fields look greener and more lush considering humans aren't as ubiquitous as before. The deserts have life with wind and swirls of flying sand grains. And they deepened the colors in areas where light is low to create shadow effects you would expect to see. Not that glowy fog effect to obscure more distant objects. I think I would have dropped the $10 anyway because my HZD came bundled with my PS4, so in a sense this is my only money purchase concerning this game.
Ive spent all day replaying this gem. Oddly enough, it looks how I remember it looking back on ps4. That’s always a plus for me when it comes to remasters. Same with the Metroid Prime remaster.
While the Remaster looks visually better and just as good as the sequel, something about the asthetic of the original's visuals resonate with me more, because that's how I remember playing the game for the first time and absolutely loving it.
This comparison was really cool and really showed the difference between the two games. That being said, I feel like it would have been better if the time of day had been better lined up so the comparisons could have been more 1:1. Sometimes it's impossible to truly see the upgrade because it's mid-afternoon in one game and ultra red sunset in the other, for example. Do we get those stunning colorful sunsets in the Remaster?
This would be an easy buy if I didn't already beat the game and DLC. Props to the devs for this solid effort. Maybe years down the line I'll playthrough again.
My issue with this is, until the console started being listed, there were a few examples where I genuinely couldn't tell which was the remake. Now that could just be TH-cam's video compression, but my point stands. The original stands up very well still, so remaking it seems redundant, even for $10. What next, a God of War 2018 remake?
Damn! This isn't even the Pro version! Can't imagine how it will look even greater on there. I just beat it a few months ago and pushed myself through to finally finish after years. Whilst is does not blow me away, for me to play the story again on my PS5 and also see better graphics and get PS5 trophies i think £10 is more than worth it…
They did surely missed some lookdev in some spots. Perhaps its due to time of day. For example. @3:42 the city looks vetter to me on os4. The haze looks nicer to me

I'm here hoping they didn't fix a certain exploit that lets you get a very good item early in the game.
Remastered is more natural and movie feel ;
Original is look like cartoon feel
$10 is a reasonable price for an upgrade? Heck yes.
Some parts look better, some of these I thought the ps4 version looks better. And a couple of times if they hadn't put on screen which version was which I might have guessed the opposite.
Damn I still think this is like one step behind Forbidden West but looks absolutely fantastic.
The haze looks nicer to me
There is more depth in the view due to the differences in tonality. The PS5 looks why to saturated and lacks depth here. Felt like a Minecraft scene. To much popping colors. I've seen the same in som other shots
I think the way to play is quality mode with 40fps.... im very interesting to see it on ps5 pro mode. If i had a pro then go on max fidelity with 40 fps.then u have a masterpiece
I feel that remastering games that are less then 10 years old, when there are so many older classics that should have already been remastered or even remaked, makes me a bit sad..
Well, Sony and Guerilla hired Nixxes to work on this game so it is in line with the sequel graphically. Did it take away resources from Sony or Guerilla to do so? No. Keep wishin'.
@@minbari73 im 40 years, been playing such other great classics, do you look at horizon zero dawn og and did you felt "oh this game is not pretty enough, it feels old?"... My opinion if they want to remaster do so but sony could allways look into games they launch way before this game, its my opinion.
Good God that is a beautiful game. Guerilla Games is just on another level.
Might pick it up on pc at some point
$10 for this? I'm sold.
Why not compare Performance mode to the PS4 original with the FPS PS5 patch? Comparing Fidelity to it seems a tad unfair.
There is only resolution differences.
@@МухаммедАли-б7д The start of the video they say the left is Fidelity and the right is the "higher framerate" PS4 version (which I assume is running on PS5 with a patch).
Tomorrow's begins & can't wait + horizon lego imminent too.
Looks awesome. I'm all for it but there are a lot of people that don't even want to pay full price of a game. They want to wait till it goes on sale. So for a remaster those type of people are even going to be worse about it. In my eyes if you live the game you will pay for it. If not then there not going to want to spend the price of a game/remaster
"People who already don't like the game probably won't want this." We need more people with hot takes like this on youtube.
Damn the os4 could really push some pretty graphics too.
imagina the witcher 3 in this graphics would be epic
Add the gilder as a mod and it would be the better game.
Maybe i am stupid but cant figure out how to upgrade for 10$,i have completed edtition for ps4
